Do not use in the following universes: "Vanilla": universe (non-NG+): The game treats your character as the exact same individual from the start of the game, so introducing AltYou causes bugs.
"You": universes (both NG+ and non-NG+): These universes explicitly treat the player as the same character who left Vectera with the artifact, so having AltYou conflicts with how NPCs perceive you.
"You?": universe: This is more ambiguous, where NPCs might treat you as either the same character or as someone different. The mod can cause issues because the game's treatment of your identity is unclear here.
Works well in most other universes: In universes where the game doesn’t specify your character’s identity before arriving (post-Unity), the mod works fine since NPCs don’t expect a single version of you.
Edit: Reminder: For the best experience, use this mod in universes where the character’s identity is not firmly established to avoid dialogue bugs.
Are any of those "You" versions you describe corresponding to the "Evil You" version?
I know there are three universes where you can find your alternate self (single you, multiple you and evil you) so I don't have clear if your description fits with the Evil You universe which is the one that I'm playing right now.
Just a heads up. Using this setstage command will effectively break a vanilla NG+ run as it overrides parts of the vanilla main quest. If you want to keep everyone (as in all the non followers) at the Constellation interacting with you via dialog and additional quests and not realizing you're the Starborn, do not do this. Otherwise they'll go to to the default 'alternate' NG style of just making Starborn comments without any dialog interaction.
Have you found a way to make the look of You remain static after summoning? When I started the You NG+ I saw that my You had scars I earned 3 universes ago, so I fixed them in Enhance (respecting the load in of You limitations), however, after I swapped back my look to my 'experienced' look... my other Me went and got scars/tattoos all the same. :( - I see where this seems to be called for in the scripts, but have you figured out a way around it. They should look like them Me not like me me. - This was a poor choice on Bethesda's part, not reflective of this mod. Just wondering if you had fixed this or knew a workaround.
Been tinkering and had some modest success. The two scripts that need to be edited are 'CrewEliteOtherPlayerScript.psc' and 'OtherPlayerAliasScript.psc'. Since the player has a dynamic appearance it is not possible to call to a past static appearance. I tested removing the references to changing the appearance, but that seemed to fail initially. I think the best method would be to do that janky swap thing folks do, where you find an uncommonly used but persistent actor to transfer the appearance you want to retain to them so that the script can call a static actor reference. I was toying with this today based on the copy appearance code used in: 'MQ207HunterScript.psc'. - This was more successful, but not in the way I planned. I think mostly I broke the copyappearnce code bit, so my Me is looking like my first meeting Her not me. (which is the goal)
If I find it keeps working when I am playing today, I may post it (proto-state) as a sister mod to this one. I think it may be janky to have them be in the same mod since the mod that edits the scripts would essentially 'lock in' the look of the You. However, the game still needs to acquire a You initially. The code does not seem to differentiate between first meeting (creating You) and subsequent zone transitions.
Because Me is hella down with hanging out with You? and, as a version of Me, You? is down with hanging out with Me, and neither Me nor You? sees any reason not to also hang out with ¿You?, do ¿You? know what ¿I'm? saying? :D
(like, if there's Me (with my RefID) and You? with You?'s RefID, and if you checked for the You? universe ID and, if it's the...uh...You?niverse...then spawn a ¿You? with a different RefID to avoid a collision. <3
There is a specific ALT universe that features you as a singular alive and existent NPC. Which is probably where this mod gets the ID from, and thus would be a problem for that universe. All other universes either do not feature you as an NPC, or they are totally different character IDs.
I've had 1, run in with Vanilla of running into the Current Universe Self. I do have the 'seduce other self mod,' so that I can recruit 'myself,' to be part of crew/companion. The 'seducing part,' not into, but having another 'self,' I like. Now, if they 'decide,' to not go through the unity, ok, how about we at least 'power' them up....?
I always thought the Alternate Universe where you meet with yourself should be the main universe since at the first playthrough, you existed in your own universe, so the AltYou should also exist in his/her own universe as well.
Thank you so much again, finally I can get to play the main universe as how it was always supposed to be 😅😍😍😍🤩🤩
In a nitpicky mood sorry lol, but you do exist in every universe you travel to. In all but 2 variations you're missing, likely one of the causalities of the CF invasion.
Oh no worries at all, if you misunderstood me, I wanted to say I am thankful for this mod because I also feel the same way as you too (Your AltYou should exist in other universes too).
It's very nice to have my otherself as a companion now in this universe 😅😅
I'm plannig to add Moara and Rafael for the NG+ universe that make you skip main quest. Ty for your comment, it's lovely to see other players love this game.
I agree, there should be a Version of 'You,' in every Universe you go to, unless that person has been killed through some other means. Say their crimson fleet won that fight, ect. There could be a myriad of reasons, if Multi-Verse exists, for a person to not be there, which is the entire reason, for there to be Multiple. Like Arriving at Constellation, there was never a 'You' to join Lin's crew. Honestly, I like your thoughts on this mod, something to get a better beginning. The other thing I thought of recently, is, if you have a Companion, that you both Devote yourselves to. Why wouldn't they go through the Unity with you. When, they 'marry you,' you should be able to talk them into getting powers via temples, so they can become a Starborn.
XMK2CATX1, Also yup, for marrying and going through Unity together actually would perfect too. Barrett to be honest fit perfectly with this, because of what he doing with you together in the mid way. He gets only 1 thingy but that could have been expanded to more by bethesda to be honest there was so much potential.
There is a evil you as 1 of the random starts , unfortunately you only meet them once . It would be way cooler if your evil self stalked you and tried to mess with you through the whole playthrough .
