This posts section is meant to help players with Modfix itself. Since I keep getting posts from players disregarding my request to not post about other things not related to Modfix (on main page) due to either not reading, ignoring, etc.. I am locking this. It is known there are other methods to get the game working properly with mods, I hate to be this way about it, but I cannot continue to babysit a forum thread and get sidetracked with things not related to helping users of this Modfix itself. Instructions are there, video tutorial and explanation of how this works is there. Thanks for the understanding.
GamePass Players: ModFix should be placed into the Starfield\Content\ path.
(or wherever your Starfield.exe happens to be located, this is just so the command file knows the path to link the documents location to)
Hi, I used your mod, and Junction was created successfully. But the files inside junction (all files in Data) of approximately 120gb are now being uploaded to Onedrive. Onedrive does not sync the junction folder but syncs the data junction is pointing towards. Is there a way to stop this?
Now I remember why I despise OneDrive, The only way to stop it from happening if using OneDrive is to go into OneDrive settings and turn off Sync for Documents (because MS thinks it is a good idea to not let you exclude subfolders). It is one of the reasons I stopped using it and removed it.
I will tinker with it on vmware and if I can come up with a solution I will definitely post it.
Thanks qwetiks! I will still keep an eye out if there is a workaround to make it easier on players - I had found a couple but they are more a pain than anything even though they did work (one involved moving files and causing OneDrive to become out of Sync of that location in which prevent it from Syncing the folder)
*EDIT* Added optional command file to make it easier for those unsure how to go about this fix.
If you did not move them from Documents\Starfield\Data (or Data_backup) to Game_Install_Folder\Data then they wont work until you move them to the proper location. This wont move them for you, that is covered in the Q & A on description page for the reasons why.
To uninstall, simply show hidden files and delete the Data shortcut that was made in documents location. Rename the Data_Timestamped folder back to just Data.. Done.
See Video tutorial I posted up top under Videos tab on how to properly install and get working.
Different drives wont matter, not sure why it would not be working. If it created the link and mods stopped working - the only thing it can be is mods not being moved to right location. Sorry for your troubles, can always start over and watch the video - it might give an insight to what might be going wrong for you. Even if you decide not to, then all good, have fun with the game either way!
Only issue is now all my bat mods doesn't work (no matter if i use single file or multiple one) should i place them somewhere else?? I notice new Data folder doesn't not contain Content folder is this a issue??
See if placing those bat run command files in the location where Starfield.exe is located allows them to run again with the game. As far as Content folder, if the game is running normally, I would not think it is a problem, but I can check into that later and see if there is something amiss.
Regarding OneDrive - there's a more up-to-date method of disabling specific folders, on Win 10 (I don't have 11, so I can't say.)
To exclude a folder from OneDrive -
1. Rightclick on the OneDrive icon in the systray 2. Click the Gear button, top right, "Help & Settings" 3. Click 'Settings ' 4. In the menu on the left side, click, "Account" 5. Click, "Choose Folders" 6, Navigate to the My Games/Starfield entry and uncheck the button next to it.
Yeah, the issue is - only works on Windows 10, Windows 11 for whatever reason says "these are important system files" or something along those lines and won't let you uncheck them. (OneDrive that ships installed with Windows 11 - and even version you download and install separate) Went through it in VMWare to try and resolve, best thing imo is to get rid of OneDrive and use a third party app to manage your OneDrive Syncs (there are others that will backup to OneDrive account without the hassle and full control) but anyhow :)
Ahhh - sorry, didn't realize. I'm going to be so annoyed when they force me to use Win11 but hopefully some of these 'oversights' will be fixed by then.
i'm losing my mind trying to get the Onedrive command work , tried rebooting my pc and also tried manually blocking the folder sync in onedrive but it just won't work. https://imgur.com/a/DnZqk5t
0 added, it is not finding the blocklist.txt file (you need that in same location as the command file itself) See Video Tutorial I posted above in Video section as it covers that as well more towards end of video. (I will update the block command so that it will print a message when blocklist is missing, this will help others in future understand why it may not be working)
ok so the problem was having both the onedrivesync command file and the txt in a folder , once i copied both in desktop and opened it with admin it worked flawlessly. huge thank you and endorsed !
whenever I try to move the data contentf from Modfix to starfield.exe data folder it says that the files are currently being used and can't move them. Any tips?
It creates one if it is run as admin (for special case on some systems), if not run as admin it creates Junction. The error check is for admin check (error if not run as admin) so it knows it is creating a standard junction: .. and is there because on some systems it wont allow it not to be run without admin. (elevated security in user profile / control panel)
It is an easier fix than trying to private message back and forth trying to diagnose why someone's machine wont allow the junction.
**EDIT** uploaded a tutorial video which also explains this and reason behind it.
File extension blocker not working. I run it as admin. I type 1 for option 1 and press enter. At the top of the cmd window new text appears and says it blocked 1 file extension. I dont know what file extension it blocked, but it wasn't ba2. Those suckers started syncing as soon as I ran the modfix. And that's 114GB just with the game's own ba2 files lol
EDIT: The extensions were all added to the Registry. I will try and restart my pc to see if that fixes the issue EDIT 2: Restarted PC and works perfectly

windows 10 - How to prevent a folder from being synced on OneDrive? - Super User
Anyone else using this solution - just keep adding variables like this : https://imgur.com/a/EJN9PzS and such files will be blocked.

How do I remove it? There's no uninstall instructions.
