Changelogs
Version 2.0
>Added FilmicTonemap(Adaptation) to the NaturaLUTs version to further clear up the image >I suggest you reinstall reshade with the new version to download the filmictonemap(adaptation) shader if you dont have it >Adjusted the shadows to remain neutral gray instead of black with almost no detail loss >Shadows are naturally a bit darker now for more realism
Version 1.65
>Changed HDR values by a small amount to keep shadows consistency >Adjusted the LUT to invoke a slight change >Removed RadiantGI Hotkey and the effect values from the .ini as it was causing some issues, hopefully it's fully gone now
Version 1.60
>Created a LUT to mitigate the baked in engine filters >Further adjusted the HDR value to fit the sometimes overblown stars or suns >REMINDER; Reinstall Reshade with the new preset to download LUT.fx if you don't have it in order to use the NEW LUT. >Kept planetary colors but drastically lowered Bethesdas filtering
Version 1.50
>Removed Levels as it was completely replaced by FakeHDR >Adjusted interior lighting to have a less apparent green filter, but still present in some story interiors since it is baked in the engine >Especially dark areas covered by a layer of shadows made a bit lighter as they were loosing details to the darkness >Sun exposure lowered to not hide detail behind the flare
Version 1.45
>Adjusted Levels to not lose detail while the sun is shining on white surfaces >Tweaked HDR to not overdarken the screen in certain darker areas >Further improved the contrast sharpen to clarify more details
Version 1.40
>Adjusted Contrast Sharpening in CAS accordingly to make the image sharper further out as it was being blurry
Version 1.30
>Adjusted HDR values of the flashlight so it doesnt lose detail on textures with brighter surfaces >Adjusted HDR values of the map with a very bright sun or star so it doesnt lose detail with pixel clipping
Version 1.25
> Reduced HDR whitepoint clipping
Version 1.20
>Merged Vanilla version planetary colors with green and brown filter removal tech >Game looks clearer while retaining vanilla feel. >Still included AMD FidelityFX CAS for better sharpening and tweaked it accordingly
Version 1.15
> Adjusted colors to pop more and not look washed out while trying to retain a little bit of vanilla vibe
Version 1.11
>Adjusted shadow curves to not make the game overly dark
Version 1.10
>Removed Ambient Light as it was causing the game to be overly bright in some areas >Tweaked the blackpoint to avoid overdarkening of shadows >Clearer colors >For DLSS users: Added AMD Fidelity CAS for sharpening
Version 1.05
> Adjusted some effects to tone down the massive over contrastness > Added a better sharpening value filter > Tuned black point and white point > Added auto correction for certain colors > Tweaked shadows so they arent too dark and in line with the game engine > Added more in game pics for comparison
PLEASE ENDORSE IF YOU LIKE THE RESHADE. IT DOES MEAN A LOT. THANK YOU
Drag my preset and reshade-shaders folder into your Starfield main folder that contains the Starfield.exe.
Download the latest Reshade and run the installer. Select Starfield.exe or in case of GAMEPASS, you need to select gamelaunchhelper.exe file, not Starfield.exe.
Select DirectX12 as your renderer.
When it asks which packages you want to install, select my preset in the preset selection screen to only download the shaders it needs.
When you start the game, use Home button to open Reshade menu(this is default), or whatever button your set in your Reshade.ini.
Follow the instructions on the screen to finish the tutorial and during it select the Quantum Reshade preset.
That should be it.
Enjoy!
FOR PUREDARKS DLSS USERS I suggest you grab the RESHADE VERSION OF HIS DLSS MOD!
I made a video tutorial for installing the Reshade in case a visual guide is more helpful to you. There is no talking or text, just do what I do, it's simple.
>IF YOU USE FSR2, TURN OFF AMD FIDELITYFX CAS if the game is too sharp for you; or tweak the Sharpening Intensity under CAS.fx in Reshade settings to your liking. I play with DLSS, so naturally the FSR2 ingame sharpening slider DOES NOT work for me.
>Different Method to install the Reshade for Puredarks DLSS 3 thanks to Formula21;
"I got it working, heres some directions if you wanna include it in your instructions.
-Install Reshade as per Crimsons instructions.
- Delete dxgi.dll in Starfield folder
- Extract Puredark DLSS3 mod (tested with Build Beta 03)
-Copy all of the content of the DLSS3 mod into your Starfield root folder, overwrite everything EXCEPT for ReShade.ini, leave the one that is already present in the game directory.
- (Unsure if needed but I had to do this to get my steam controller working.) rename d3d12.dll to dxgi.dll"
