Update: now you can using at least 3-4 DLSS mods in Nexusmods (The newer one made by NUKEM also work so great!). Feel free to choose one of it. But this DLSS indicator method still the same, doesn't matter what is DLSS mod that you are currently use (as it only activate GeForce driver flags inside Windows Registry). If DLSS activated then you will see the info in your left bottom screen, if it not activated then there is no info at all.
My top overlay (for frame gen) says it's version 310.2 but I've checked the actual DLL in the game folder and it's 310.1. Where is it getting this newer DLL from? Is that NV App overriding things?
EDIT: yes... the NV App was overriding my DLSS DLL choice. Had to turn override off in NV profile inspector. Ps. Thanks for this helpful tool!
When I have Frame Generation enabled, I also get the overlay at the top of my screen. So bottom left shows me regular DLSS overlay.. but with Frame Generation enabled I also get an overlay at the top of my screen. Is there anyway I can disable the Frame Generation overlay? Without actually disabling FG. ;)
for linux users who want to test their dlss installation: go to your steam folder/compatdata/1716740 edit system.reg with your fav editor search for [Software\\NVIDIA Corporation\\Global\\NGXCore] and add these 2 lines "Installed"=dword:00000001 "ShowDlssIndicator"=dword:00000400
Or these two (for OFF setting) "Installed"=dword:00000001 "ShowDlssIndicator"=dword:00000000
Lmao i don't know how but somehow every other game is showing when i use DLSS but starfield even though i followed every instruction of the mod the information on the bottom left still isn't showing up.
I have tried the 3 types of dlss mods (mods id: 111, 196, 761) and the information does not appear, I tried it with fortnite and cyberpunk 2077 and it works but not with starfield, anyone else have this problem?
if not appears then your Starfield DLSS mod actually is not loaded and running properly. That can caused by you missing something on your DLSS mod installation process (wrong runtime path, missing DLSS file runtime, etc.). Read your mod installation instruction carefully. Or since you mentioned you have 3 DLSS mods, make sure there is not conflict between them (make sure you clean-up previous DLSS mod files, before apply a new one); DO NOT mixed them up.
Cyberpunk 2077 and Fornite are the games that supported native DLSS without mod like Starfield (lack of native DLSS supported).
You should download and do a proper DLSS mod installation first, and don't forget to also download the proper DLSS runtime (nvngx_dlss.dll) as mentioned in the Luke's DLSS mods description page (He already explained it so detail on that page section).
If this DLSS indicator didn't show up after you activate with this reg key, then the DLSS mode probably is not running properly with your game. It could caused by there is something missing in your installation process (wrong folder path, wrong DLSS runtime location, etc.) that made the DLSS mod is not loaded properly.
I have a general question about implementing DLSS in this game. Can we change the render presets? If so how? I've always felt render set D had a sharper image than C (assuming that's the default).
Like can we just drop in the DLSSTweaksConfigTool into the Starfield folder?
nvm, I just read properly for the first time in my life
if you are using Luke's DLSS mod then you may put a file named "preset_override.txt" in the same folder as his "FSRBridge.asi" file. Put A or B or C or D ......... or F inside text file to set the preset that you prefer.
About all preset details; you may read it from DLSS documentation (PDF files) inside DLSS SDK or DLSS plugin for Unreal Engine that come from NVIDIA.
you should create that file "preset_override.txt" manually; then edit it with notepad. Put into the file a letter A or B or C..... so on; for your preferred preset.
Well this definitely helped. Found out at some point my DLSS file disappeared so I've been on FSR2 this whole time. It all makes sense now.... (Shimmer artifacts in game from fsr2)
100% agreed with you. For performance matter, FSR2 and DLSS (non frame generation) sometimes just barely different, or almost equals. But, that shimmer artifacts (most noticeable were in "Neon City") from FSR2; it made me prefer to using DLSS.
