Thanks for these presets in particular. I am so picky about my UI but you provided so many nice options that I don't have to spend 45 minutes tweaking from scratch. Now I'll hop between a couple depending on mood when I fire up the game. :)
Still working as advertised, with Starfield Update 1.14.74, woohoo! o7 ♥
Again, THANK YOU Seb263, for this hella fire mod! With the sheer amount of times I restart the game, and with the nature and intention of the NG+ gameplay, it's hella nice to be able to switch things up once in a while, and slap on a fresh new different subtitles paintjob, hehe.
I was kinda hoping the Alive preset would have its text colors match with whether or not the dialogue would advance to the next topic but it seems the colors are almost totally random, which is disappointing.
I also use (and love) CleanTalk...maybe try the following:
In your 'Enhanced Subtitles - Preset.ini' file: (Make sure you make a backup before you start fiddling with the settings, lol!) > find the following lines:
Spoiler:
Show
[Background] # Background color of the text box in hexadecimal format, e.g., "#000000" for black. sColor = #000000
# Opacity of the background, with a range from 0% (fully transparent) to 100% (fully opaque). fOpacity = 0.0
# Controls the radius of the corners of the background. fBorderRadius = 0.0 # Options: -1 = Fully rounded corners, 0 = No rounding, Any other value sets the corner radius.
# Vertical padding added to the text box, specified in units. fVerticalPadding = 6.0
# Horizontal padding added to the text box, specified in units. fHorizontalPadding = 10.0
f0pacity = 0.0Maybe try it at 5.0 or 10.0 or 15.0, if you want it to be very subtle, or try higher value for darker background.
And in your 'Enhanced Dialogue Interface - Preset.ini' file, do the same (if you also want the same effect for your dialogue options box): (Make sure you make a backup before you start fiddling with the settings, lol!) > find the following section/lines:
Spoiler:
Show
# ============================================================================= # This section contains settings for dialogue entries. # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [DialogueEntry] # Sets the text color for dialogue entries. sTextColor = #FFFFFF
# Adjusts the opacity of the text in dialogue entries, ranging from 0% (fully transparent) to 100% (fully opaque). fTextOpacity = 85.0

# Controls the strength of the shadow for dialogue entries. fShadowStrength = 2.0

# Angle of the shadow in degrees for dialogue entries. For example, "45.0" degrees. fShadowAngle = 45.0
# Shadow color in hexadecimal format for dialogue entries, such as "#000000" for black. sShadowColor = #000000
# Horizontal blur for the shadow in dialogue entries, specified in units. fShadowBlurX = 0.0
# Vertical blur for the shadow in dialogue entries, specified in units. fShadowBlurY = 0.0
# Shadow quality for dialogue entries, with higher values providing smoother shadows. iShadowQuality = 3
# Opacity of the shadow in dialogue entries, ranging from 0% (fully transparent) to 100% (fully opaque). fShadowOpacity = 70.0
# Sets the background color for dialogue entries. sBackgroundColor = #000000
# Adjusts the opacity of the background behind dialogue text in dialogue entries. fBackgroundOpacity = 0.0
# Horizontal blur for the background behind dialogue text in dialogue entries, specified in units. fBackgroundBlurX = 0.0 # WARNING: You may encounter crashes with certain values. If that happens, leave this at 0.
# Vertical blur for the background behind dialogue text in dialogue entries, specified in units. fBackgroundBlurY = 0.0 # WARNING: You may encounter crashes with certain values. If that happens, leave this at 0.

# Color of the border for dialogue entries. sBorderColor = #000000
# Opacity of the border for dialogue entries, ranging from 0% (fully transparent) to 100% (fully opaque). fBorderOpacity = 0.0
Also, you may want to (or not) change the opacity of the text background "when hovering over", if you want it darker (or lighter) than what your default is, when you hover over your selection (also in your 'Enhanced Dialogue Interface - Preset.ini' file): (Again, make sure you made a backup before you started fiddling with the settings, lol!) > find the following section/lines:

# Thickness of the border for dialogue entries when hovering. fBorderThickness = 0.0
And if you want to nit-pick even more, you can try making edits to the same lines ( fBackgroundOpacity ) in the following sections (also in your 'Enhanced Dialogue Interface - Preset.ini' file): # ============================================================================= # This section contains settings for dialogue entries that have already been said. # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...and/or... # ============================================================================= # This section contains settings for dialogue entries that have already been said when hovering. # -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
thats for the reply by all that is out of my range of expertise when it comes to tinkering and i really dont want to mess my game up right now lmao. Thanks tho im sure someone who has the patience and will to mess with that will appreciate it :) I have no clue what im doing outside of just the basic .ini edits thats WAAAAAAAAAAAY too scary
I used to feel that way too, and sometimes, I still do. It may seem like a lot to take in (the stuff I said above, and the coding), and I totally felt that way too, when I first dipped my feet in, but it really isn't that hard, once you've tried it. It's a lot like learning to ride a bike...scary and sketchy when you think about it, but when you actually try it, you realize it's not that bad/hard, and gets even easier with practice hehe!
You're literally only changing the numbers on one line (two if you want to change the others):
If your having problems installing this this is what i did. Download the preset from here. Then download Enhanced Dialogue Interface & Enhanced Subtitles. Now open up a new folder on desktop and then open each .zip folder and click the Data/Interface folders and drag all the stuff from each folder into the New folder on desktop so you have all the files from each .zip in that folder together then goto Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Interface and then drag and drop all the files into that folder make sure they are NOT THE DATA OR INTERFACE FOLDER you want everything from the Interface folder. Its going to ask you if you want to replace the EhancedFonts.swf just ignore it because they are both the same file. That should get it to work for u. This game is weird with mods. Idk why but some mods like the .esm & .bak files i have to intall through Vortex and the ones that are .ini or .swf i have to install in MyGames. Idk its weird! LOL but thats what works for me and how ive been having to deal with it since Day 1. **IMPORTANT PART* IF it doesnt work still then to delete it just quit the game and goto desktop and right click and select Undo Move. that should delete everything you just moved earlier but make sure when you do the initial move the first time of all the files to gether make sure that you highlight them all before dragging and dropping.

I invite you to do so directly within the dedicated forum. Thank you!

Still appreciatin' ya, friendo! ♥ :)
It's mentionned that both Enhanced dialogue and Enhanced subtitles are required, so I added both (I'm using Vortex).
(though one is with Better Hud)
but I get conflicts :/
Any idea why ?

As long as you make a backup of the file(s) before you edit them, then you have nothing to lose, and much to gain! :)
The file(s) you want will be located in your Starfield root game directory's "Interface" folder (example: "...\...\Starfield\Data\Interface"):
For the subtitles: Enhanced Subtitles - Preset.ini
For the dialogue options text: Enhanced Dialogue Interface - Preset.ini
Honestly, give it a try, I was scared too at first, but you'll see it's all good! Have faith in yourself! I have faith in you! \o/ :) ♥
Again, don't forget to make a backup of the file(s) before you edit! :)

LOOOVE Skyfield and CleanTalk, hhnngg!! ( * 3*)
Enhanced Subtitles is ready to blast off again, with 1.14.74! o7 ♥
Enhanced Dialogue Interface also good to go with 1.14.74! o7 ♥
