About this mod
Makes glass completely transparent to help boost FPS. This mod is intended for potato PCs and people who prefer FPS over visual fidelity.
- Permissions and credits
This mod modifies a common glass texture that is not only used by windows/glass-panels but also glassware, tables, shelves, etc. So there may be invisible glass-only objects, but so far from my testing these objects are fairly irrelevant when compared to the FPS boost I personally get in certain areas.
Overview
Makes glass completely transparent to help boost FPS in areas that use lots of glass (ships, star stations, buildings, etc.). This is especially worse when glass/windows are layered on top of each other.
This mod is intended for potato PCs and people who prefer FPS over visual fidelity.
These changes were made based off the following mods:
- Clean(er) Glass: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1938
- Project Better Glass: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1834
I really just simply took the "glassnoise_opacity.dds" file and made it completely black to make it 100% transparent. Nothing special here.

Installation
Download with Vortex OR Copy the 'Data' folder to '(..)\Documents\My Games\Starfield'
Make sure your 'StarfieldCustom.ini' has:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
Side Note
If anyone knows a way to totally disable reflections in this game let me know, as I believe this causing one of the biggest FPS drops, at least for my potato setup. I already have the following set in my ini file but I can't go any lower than 64 resolution as it will cause the game to crash:
[Reflections]
uReflectio nProbeArraySize=24
uReflectio nProbeFacesToRenderPerFrame=2
uReflectio nsResolution=64
(had to add spaces since text was getting replaced)
Otherwise, this mod I made will help me with most locations that use a lot of glass.
