As of the 1st of June, 2024, I will no longer be actively developing this mod.
This mod STILL WORKS if you install the updates made by EagleFour! (October 2024, see comment below)
The video below provides an explanation and more information.
Big thanks to everyone!
Deadly Hazards Update 1.2.3.0
This update ensured Deadly Hazards works fine with the v1.11.36 update for Starfield.
You can install v1.2.3.0 mid-playthrough
At least from my testing, it's safe to update an existing save from v1.2.2.0 to v1.2.3.0.
The 1.2.3.0 update cannot be uninstalled mid-playthrough, but you can disable most of its features by setting Environmental Damage & Afflictions to Normal or Off in Starfield's gameplay options.
Make sure you read the mod description!
Starvival
Starvival recently updated and added its own take on environmental hazards! I highly recommend that you check it out!
Deadly Hazard's main module and Starvival's EnviHazards are obviously not compatible with each other.
Hi, You can turn on a notification that will show you the remaining amount of oxygen, depending on the time set. The status window also shows the remaining amount of oxygen (in levels). There is no nanobot display. The nanobots have a lifespan of 3 minutes.
Question, When I take off my helmet on a moon that has Gravity: 0.91 G, Temperature: Deep Freeze, Atmosphere: Thin Co2 and Magnetosphere: Weak I pretty much insta die. Is there a way to adjust it so I suffocate a bit longer before death? Seems a bit extreme to just insta die after like 2 seconds. I have the preset set to kinda Deadly but after adjusting all the settings it doesn't seem to make any difference at all on how fast I die without a helmet.
going from 1 atmosphere to .5 (thin?) atmospheres wouldn't cause explosive anything. your saliva might "boil" (vaporize) but your brain wouldn't. you would die from slow asphyxiation. the explosive decompression you're thinking of involves huge pressure differentials that happen in water.
If I remember correctly, here's the things that cause you damage in the scenario you describe: - Non-breathable atmosphere (co2, meaning you are beathing in poison (hypercapnia) - the "thin" part does nothing - that's thin pressure and is unrelated) - Deep Freeze (insane low temperatures, probably between -150 to -199 celcius) - Solar Radiation (gamma rays, weak magnetosphere)
I don't know about you, but -150°C to -199°C are pretty lethal temperatures and will end your life just that alone. It's on cryogenic levels of absent heat. You'll experience Flash Freezing, bascially your tissues freeze and die in literaly seconds. You'll loose consciousness immediatley from the shock and almost instantly experience irreversible brain death.
I'd say death in 2 seconds is pretty realistic just from the temperatures alone. Hypercapnia is also pretty bad. You get instant neurological failure thanks to the fact your body can't expel co2.
But yeah - this should all be tweakable through the in-game settings menu. Make sure you have the patch from EagleFour which unlocks the remaining settings. It's your game and you should be able to tweak it to what you want. Look for the settings that control damage for when you are not wearing the space suit (including Suit Integrity Failure).
How do I find the presets in-game? My gameplay settings only show the vanilla options. Installed via Vortex, and the Apply Settings patch is loaded after Deadly Hazards.
The presets in-game are applied using the custom-built Deadly Hazards in-game settings menu (accessed via an item that gets added to your inventory). They do not appear in the gameplay options! =)
does anyone else have an issue where randomly you just start losing all of your health, and reloading a save where you weren't dying like that it happens again?
BUG: The oxygen consumption from moving while encumbered is excessive and doesn't seem to be controlled by any of the consumption settings. This is the only thing I can't live with. It goes down 5% with each step.
Somewhat related, hopefully modders are working on new POI's that look like they belong on habitable planets and spawn on them, replacing the space sealed habs POIs currently on all planets, with POIS like houses etc, that don't require vaccum chamber doors because who needs that on normal planets... it will require new models and textures to get new POIs in
I have a question. I do not see any kind of bar on my hud for how much oxygen is in my suit or how much hunger or thirst I have left, it isnt until im almost completely out of 02 food and water do I even see that I need to take care of it. Is there some kind of bar that shows this information that I can set up? I asked over on the deadly hazards oxygen page but noone has responded to me. So Im asking here to find out if I have a mod that may be conflicting with something or if there just isnt any bars for those things. Here is what my hud looks like.
Yes, but you might need this: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/11121
And I think you NEED this: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/11484
The second one is a patch I think for the HUD changes made for the Vehicle systems. The first one at least gives you the ability to have dialogue immunity if you have the conversation camera disabled. It also just adds some options that were there but not enabled because development on the mod stopped.

Believe it or not, but Deadly Hazards still work (sort of) as of October 2024! 😱
Here's how to get it up-and-running:

Do I need nanobots? From a medic? Thanks!
