Notes:
Any stuttering you get in The Well or Neon Core is a vanilla issue, sadly, but is exacerbated by some mods. It's been reported to Bethesda here and here on their Discord server so now all we can do is wait for them to fix it. If you want to help out, maybe go put a star on the linked bug reports.
To change from using Junk In Your (Ship's) Trunk (JIYT) to Better Ship Part Flips (BSPF) v1.1.0 or higher, you need to remove all JIYT-added parts on any ship you own, then uninstall JIYT and all of its patches.
Hello there! Amazing mod, thank you, rux, just want to report that flipped versions of ship fuel tanks do not work with Starvival's refuel mechanic, vanilla ones are functioning ok. Figured i'd mention it here, if anyone else runs into this problem.
this mod bugs out the Frontier at a new game start, its makes the grav drive thrust power 13, instead of 145, which makes it unusable, and it also deletes a structural ship part from the ship (i guess from the whole game, it removes some parts not just adds flips to them), and its weapons become unusable because they are detached from the ship, because the part they are attached to vanishes with this mod enabled.......basically it bricks the game
The ship basically works, but as soon as you want to edit it, it has errors, and you need to repair the issues this mod introduces... for me at least it worked, i only found out it has these issues when i wanted to edit the ship..
I know your mod isn’t the root cause after reading some of the other comments, but I really hope the interior stuttering gets fixed. Either by Bethesda or someone else. Right now I’m deciding to power through it. Thanks for the mod.
Just thought I'd mention something about the "random flips" thing that happens. I've noticed while playing that it only seems to happen after 2 situations. When your ship gets into combat (as far as I've seen this is almost 100% of the time bar 1 time it didn't happen), and sporadically when your character gets into combat (far less often, more like 50% or less of the time).
Just thought I'd mention it in case this issue was something you were still trying to track down. Either way keep up the good work.
Hi Rux. So I have a question, I keep selecting the option to hide decoratives in the FOMOD but once I get into the game and then go to ship build they are still there so I was wondering if the FOMOD isn't installing the plugin properly?
LarannKiar just posted an update to Starfield Engine Fixes (5.1) that appears to fix the persistent stuttering/hitching issue. It's disabled by default; you have to enable it in the INI file (set bEngineLoadOptimizer=1).
I just tested it in my save in the worst area for me (Nishina Research Lab) and the stuttering/hitching was gone.
edit: other users are reporting huge improvements but maybe not 100% fixed. I had only tested in my worst area. Haven’t tried in the Well or Neon yet.
Well it worked for me in my worst area. Haven’t tested it everywhere. It may have helped the problem to a degree and I just don’t have as many mods adding to the problem.
I only use the original Better Ship PartFlips and Ship Builder Categories right now. Even with just those ones I was having problems before.
Further testing using Starfield Engine Fixes 5.2 with 'bEngineLoadOptimizer' enabled.
With version 1.0 of BSPF I had no issues at all in the Well, Neon or (my personal nightmare) Nishina Research Lab.
With version 2.0 of BSPF I had no issues at all in the Well or Neon but Nishina Research Lab there was a barely perceptible stutter, but so slight I may never have noticed it.
It has eliminated or dramatically improved the situation with my L/O. Others have continued to have some problems, though.
Possibly the difference in results from various users may come down to CPU/RAM perhaps?
Can confirm with Engine fixes 5.2 and the updated engine load optimization I have zero stutter in Neon Core (Haven't been anywhere else yet). Using Better Ship Part Flips with the decorations patch and Starfield Fleet Expansion 1.0 (1.1 still has issues, I posted about that on the respective mod page).
I tested Starfield Engine Fixes v5.2 (with bEngineLoadOptimizer=1) earlier, and while I still had micro-hitching in Neon Core, The Well and Cydonia (inside) were fixed for me. With that said, I didn't do really extensive testing like going back and forth to each known trouble spot a bunch of times.
But, it looks like whatever black voodoo magic LarannKiar has added at least somewhat fixes things.
I've done some testing with the SF Engine Fixes optimisation update - personally it does improve the stuttering for me, but it is still perceptibly there unfortunately with this mod + Ship Categories. Maybe a future update will sort this issue for good.
Thx I did it, changed the value from zero to one. Still the same stutters in neon city every 2-3 seconds. Without pause.
Can also not open my locations map "G" hotkey in neon city, it is just greyed out. In every other city the map works, and also zero stutters in akila city and so on.
Only neon stutters for me.
Disabled all "ship" mods that could cause that, also all neon mods, still the same stutters.
Any ideas or options left what I can try out? I can not find the issue for hours.
I has finally migrated (back) over to Better Ship Part Flips, hazzah! \o/ ♥
Now that Junk In Your (Ship's) Trunk has been merged with this mod, I decided to make the change with the release of the 1.14.70 update, since I can't play this game without Junk, hehe ♥.
Again, THANK YOU for all the time and work you put into all your hella amazing mods, rux616 (and freschu too!!♥)!! o7 ♥ :)
Also, so far, I haven't experienced any of the stuttering problems that others have commented about, with this mod, nor with Better Snaps (I don't use Starfield Engine Fixes - SFSE either.). So far, this mod has been working flawlessly for me since I started using it again (Steam; Manual installs). *knock on wood!* :)
To add to that rux, I have a completely fresh install with a new save that has never had ANY mod, let alone this one, and I experience the timed stutter in Neon, the Well, and Cydonia. I only found this by searching specifically for that problem. I have noticed quite a few 4070/4070ti mentions and that's my GPU. No idea if it's relevant, but hoping BGS can figure it out.

I did install it with mod organizer 2.
Do I have to install it manually to work? Or is it fine with mod organizer?
And you mean just put in starfieldcustom.ini "bEngineLoadOptimizer=1" to make it work right?
Or did I get something wrong?

This single response fixed hours of me trying to figure out why the game was stuttering every 4 seconds in cities.
I got no stutter at all anymore after changing the bEngineLoadOptimizer setting to 1.
Thank You So Much!
I noticed the problem when the two Nova radiators in the Star Eagle were missing.
That is the only problem I have noticed.
That being said, how would I go about reverting the change that the patch makes to the Nova Galactic Radiators?
Or would it be better to simply keep the patch disabled?
