You're basing this opinion on the fact that you have to jump through a few hoops to install a mod? This is usually how things are until they release a Creators Kit for the game which usually drops 3-6 months after the game initial release. This has to be one of the CLEANEST and has way less bugs than any other 1.0 Bethesda game before it which I am completely surprised by.

well, I was crashing every 5 minutes(despite going beyond the recommended PC specs) if it wasn't for a mod I got that is only for RX 570-590 cards so everyone else is screwed
enemies are magically walking through sealed doors and shooting through them during combat so that kind of ambush is always "fun"
turrets sometime turn on their own faction npcs cause...why not
I see people flying or going into the netherworld for...reasons
all guns are hitscan, it doesn't matter how good your personal aim is, the game will decide by dice roll whether you hit or not, there is no bullet drag, no ballistics, all bullets function the same way, all lasers function the same way, there aren't dozens of guns, there's just 3, energy, bullet, and EM and every gun is just a skin to them, they all function and hit in the exact same way, I dare say if you stretch it there's really only 1 gun, 1 projectile type and all these categories are just flavor text and skins, the only thing that brings a bit of diversity is the mods to make something explode or bleed or zap
you land and all you see are a few locations thousands of meters away that you have to drag your ass over to with no vehicle to get there faster, only to find the exact same base layout you've seen 10 times already and nothing to do along the way except pick rocks, which your extractors are already doing at some outpost somewhere
you can't save modifications on a gun(imagine not being able to unscrew a suppressor on a gun...wow)
you can't strip away one ship and add the modules to the other you have to merge the two
and for some reason Vladimir is Black, that face and the voice I'm hearing do not match at all in my mind and it is constantly taking me out of the immersion so I consider that 'not finished' as well.

You know, you could always just… oh I don’t know…. NOT CHEAT, if the steps you need to take to cheat your XP gains is too much trouble for you.  Better yet, maybe Bethesda should just make a special version of the game, just for you where you start at max level so you will not be bothered with having to do too many additional steps.

Or better yet, go out and make your own game since you seem to be some expert of game development.  Must suck to know you paid for a, so called, “not finished” game. How about you go cry somewhere else, we don’t really care about your hot take on it.
    5. and for some reason Vladimir is Black, that face and the voice I'm hearing do not match at all in my mind
This just makes you look Racist. There's Plenty of Black people who don't sound like a stereotype. Does it break immersion for you if a Mexican or Asian looking NPC doesn't speak using slow and exaggerated enunciations or the inability to vocalize the letter R?

bro this comment didnt age well. took them almost half a year to implement dlss and all the patches were just embarrassing small and remember how todd said on tv, " this game is optimised" well after some months and 2 patches the game suddenly ran vastly better. what a coincidence. besides when digital foundry says your game is unoptimized, that is usually the truth.  also how do you feel know after finishing it? the main story was bad, the missions were bad, the loading screens are bad, ship building is fun but combat is just a stat check, u dont even have a ship roll, cmon. u cant evade, since the enemy just shoots straight in the middle of your ship (this is true). and theres nothing to do in space. starfield is a great landscape of a game, with some nice sidequests, but it needs like 3 years of actual game development and it needs an actual engine not creation garbage. the dialogue system is every time 3 different wordings of saying yes and one is no. i remember when u in new vegas actually had skillchecks and vastly different outcomes, you dont have that here. its a major disappointment. you can have fun but its just not a good game. i wanted to love it, and now even with 81 mods, i barely can like it and its just annoying me at every corner. and making fun of someone that says starfield is bad after a bad launch (bro the LUTs are UNDEFENDABLE) is cringe cos it just shows you simp for bethesda and bethesa hasnt done anything good since skyrim (f4 was garbage) and skyrim also is just mediocre and broken in every corner

what annoys me is that every few minutes, security gives you an activity.  if you thought preston in fallout 4 was bad, man, security in Starfield is 100x worse.

      2. Place 'StarfieldCustom.ini' in [UserName]\Documents\My Games\Starfield

For me its the key right below backspace and next to enter key. But it can be different for you depending on your keyboard layout and language preference set by windows. Just click some keys that are normally not used until the console pops up. One on them has to work.

I do agree on the instructions. " points to the XP.txt file that should be in the same directory, downloaded here." makes it sound like the txt should go in the directory where the ini is; and that I'm supposed to be clicking on "here" like it's a link to a file.

I don't know why or what I did wrong, but I had to manually execute the bat xp command for it to work, and then I used SaveIniFile just in case :p but it seems to have saved the xp increase.

the explanation ist already in the description but but if you didn't understand it, i leave this here, go to StarfieldCustom.ini in the section [UserName]\Documents\My Games\Starfield and paste this
      [General]
      s Starting Console Command=bat XP
but, if you already have someting in this section, write this instead
      [General]
s Starting Console Command=bat (your previous mod); bat XP

I'm not a programmer or anything, but I know how to do this kind of thing.
If this doesn't work then someone more qualified will have to intervene.

(s Starting Console Command-------write this all together)

so you dont have to edit the xp file just put it in Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield
and my ini looks like this is this right
      [Archive]
      bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
      sResourceDataDirsFinal=
      [General]
      sStartingConsoleCommand=bat XP

      i really appreciate the help

Thanks, this morning I was just thinking I wish there was a mod for this cos levelling up is annoying. Especially with the stupid 'challenges' to get to the next level of skills.

I hope a mod to get rid of skill challenges comes out soon, cos they are the most annoying thing. Shouldn't even be there.. the only reason is to get you to keep playing the game by grinding. That's a cheap way to do that instead of focusing on making a game people want to keep playing.

I thought it made things interesting, but the level grind is starting to make me mad. I am 27hrs in and only Lvl 11 with no skills past the first tier. I was going to play Vanilla with only performance/QOL mods, but I feel I need this to have more fun without just cheating and using an "all skill unlocker".

what a ridiculous take. it makes total sense for you to have to do stuff related to that skill to level it. like, why would your character be really good at picking locks if they dont spend anytime picking locks

I agree, but I think you shouldn't have to spend a skill point to then rank it up. I think if you do the skill challenge, then you are technically "experienced" and it should unlock the next tier without spending a skill point.

im 26 hours in and sitting at lvl 25.8 - very little progress on the main quest, just finished the crimson fleet questline

im also using the 1,75x damage multiplier mod to reduce the health spongy

im definitely one of those people who thinks the new system is interesting

i did not care much for the system in fallout 4 or skyrim, but here in starfield the skill point system has me hooked and makes me want to play more

Really just think of challenges as leveling your skill in Skyrim. You pickpocket -> Pickpocketing levels up. You want to level up theft? You need to steal from people

I mostly agree with everyone here that I love the idea of the challenges, but when they compound with having to spend a point as well it is kind of a drag.

It is nice that there is no level cap, but I am with folks who are at ~15 hours and I think I'm like level 7 despite not hanging in once place all that long (though I admit I am a loot goblin).

Isn't it ridiculous too that every lock counts the same to level?. Shouldn't more complicated locks teach you more about lockpicking, in the context of the game?. The system doesn't make much sense. I prefer the Skyrim way where you level a skill as you use it and perks are extra.

You do "learn" by using the skill. You cannot put more points in a skill until a specific threshold is met. There really is no difference between "Unlock 20 Medium locks before progressing" than just progressing naturally in Skyrim by unlocking 20 locks. Whats going on under the hood is the same thing, you just don't actually have a tiny bump in a progress bar like you do in Skyrim when ever you do something.

      Have you....
      I mean, I....
Have you not ever play an RPG from Bethesda before? Skyrim had actual skill gains when using a skill in order to be able to level the tiers of those skills.
Granted, you don't have a skill gain progress bar here but you do have "Kill/pick/sneak 'X amount' of.." in the perks section in order to go up the tier ladder which, under the hood is the exact same thing that is going on that is in Skyrim, its just a different way the player sees the progression.

What's  going on under the hood is NOT the same thing. What's going on under the hood is that you lock pick 20 locks but CAN'T LEVEL IT ANYMORE UNLESS YOU PUT A SKILL POINT IN.

      Very different.

@NickMillion - Thanks for this mod, I know it's simple and just a console command, but it's knowing the variable name that is useful. Unlike most people I actually want to REDUCE the XPs I get, I find RPG games timescales are too quick and leveling is too much for my liking. I'm lvl 27 already just from exploring, not gone anywhere in the main mission really. So I've downloaded to endorse, but I'm setting mine to 0.30 :)

I can always put it back later up on if needs be :)
