pasting "[your pathing]\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield\sfse_loader.exe -- %COMMAND%" into the Starfield launch option on steam works better, and also doesn't brick your lighting mods like SFSE.ini does.
Keeps returning an error "Cannot find C:\Program" Clearly the space in the path is messing it up... how do I fix that?
Got it, for me the corrected Launch Option looks like: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield\sfse_loader.exe" -- %COMMAND%With quotations around the filepath
04/22/24 installed the mod and it works fine just a side note the SFSE.ININ file has to be located: ...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data\SFSE folder unlike mentioned on your main page. was it an update that cause it to do that unknown, but program works fine with this adjustment.
renaming of the SFSE_loader and StarField exe is done in ...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Starfield
Maybe I'm stupid. I followed all the instructions on the description, but somehow my starfield version is still on 1.7.33 even after I have had updated. Anybody know why it stays in the old version? Any help is much appreciated.
I got KiLoader to work using Notepad++ Hex Editor on KiLoader.dll in "...\Starfield\Data\KiLoader\". I've detailed on how I do it in a previous post here.
But the guide Slathard points to or the steam launch command NeuroticPixels and BarkBot posted here should work for you, I think.
I figured out how to run SFSE through the new MO2 beta and also have steam overlay. I followed this steam guide for Morrowind but applied it for Starfield. You can look at it here
Install SFSE normally and go get the beta build for MO2 from the MO2 discord here. This MO2 build will automatically detect SFSE. In MO2 go to modify executables, select SFSE, make sure "Force load libraries" is selected, then click on "Configure Libraries" to the right.
Select "Add Row", check the box next to "Process Name", then hit the "..." button to its right and select the "sfse_loader.exe" as the process. Then hit the "..." button on the right of "Library to Load" and navigate to your steam root folder and select the "GameOverlayRenderer64.dll" then hit ok.
The guide will be more descript with pictures. Even though it is for Morrowind, this still worked for me by selecting "sfse_loader.exe" instead and then selecting "GameOverlayRenderer64.dll" instead of the non 64 version.
Now I am only using reshade and the Baka Achievement Enabler. I am not using any dlss mods at the moment so I don't know if that will conflict at all for you.
Anyways, I hope this helps because I really wanted the steam overlay for achievement tracking and I finally found an answer that worked for me.
Thanks for writing the suggestion! I hope it helps other with the same need, as I never really used any of the mod manager like MO2 or Vortex. I still love to install all of my mods manually.
Thank you so much, I was trying so hard to figure out a way to get the overlay working with MO2 that didn't require renaming files, this worked a treat.
Just a quick head up for anybody that uses the Root Builder plugin for MO2 (it's awesome and you should use it): this fix won't work if you install SFSE utilizing Root Builder. Just manually install SFSE into the steam install folder like normal and then use the fix for the overlay posted above. It looks like Root Builder doesn't work with the force load libraries option for an exe it deploys to the root install folder. Not a big deal but it might trip other up.
Seriously, thank you so much for this. It's a beautiful thing when people find solutions and then come back to share them with everyone else. I am so glad I stumbled across your comment!
I could NOT imagine playing this game with only mouse & keyboard. How anyone wants to fly a spaceship that way is beyond me!!

When I load any of my save the game crashes to desktop without any warning dialog pop up.
Took me 2 hours to figure out what mod cause the crash and I finally found it was this mod.
