I’m not sure if it matters that I installed the containers first (and they had resources in them), and then installed the mod later. But when I try to move the container with resources to another location, the game crashes with a CTD.
I’m using the version of the mod that only increases the capacity.
On my level 48 save that was taking over eight minutes to load, it is now down to under 20 seconds. This was achieved by using the mod Outpost Storage Containers Increased Capacity by remosito found on Nexusmods. I deleted all the storage containers at each outpost to replace them with a relatively small number of Large (40,000 kg) storage containers, since each of these will hold over 60 vanilla large storage containers.
With each outpost doing this, I found my load times fall. They went from over 8 minutes, to under 8 minutes, then 7, then 5, 3, 2, 1, and finally under 20 seconds.
I kept all the large storage containers (each can hold 40,000 kg) at my Akila outpost where I collect resources from the other outposts. With nine outposts producing more than ever (upgraded extractors) and more storage capacity at each of them, and extreme capacity on Akila, load times are under 20 seconds. This is with Akila at very close to the hard limit budget.
It seems that the problem of too many containers may not be just due to too many containers. It may be due to connecting so many of them. For example, if there are 1,000 solid, 500 gas, and 200 liquid containers (an outpost that produces palladium, helium 3, and mercury) with each type connected to flow at the end to the cargo links, this causes the slow load time. You could probably reduce load time by reducing the number of links to extractors and cargo links. The mass storage on Akila (twelve stories high of large containers) which are linked only within each skyscraper, but only cargo linked when when set to receive a resource (each of three cargo link connects to one tower), the total number of connections where the numbers must update is low. I bet that if I deleted 95 percent of the storage containers on Akila, that load times would not fall much below 18 seconds because the active links really wouldn't reduce that much.
With storage of 40,000 kg per container, and several hundreds (over 1,000 and probably over 2,000 containers) it should be far more than enough to stockpile more than I need. Maybe when I get fabrication going it will be necessary to delete some to be within outpost budget limits.
That's enough of outpost building for now. Time to go play some quest lines, since restore times are fast enough again.
I should also note the required mods for the file apart from sfse all don't have adequate explanations for installation and if anything go out of their way to be obtuse which is like why would you even publicly post your mod if you're going to be difficult in how people dl it?
Is it possible to use this mod to increase the capacity of the transfer container only? That's the only storage where more capacity is desperately needed for me.
I wasn't able to get this to work. The only mod that I current have that MIGHT conflict would be: Player Placed Infinite storage (decoration items) or Infinite ship storage.
- you did update all the required mods (sfse, address library,..) after game update that just dropped? - you do have realtime form patcher mod installed? - other rtfp using mods are working?
- Yes - I keep things updated. I use Vortex and it automatically prompts me to update files that are updated. - No - I don't know what realtime form patcher is. - ?? - I don't believe I have other mods using RTFP.
- Just now installed RTFP using Vortex to install. I'll report back if it's working.
in the description of all mods there is "Requirements" subthingie that can be opened.
It lists for all mods what other mods are required. Really important to always check that. This mod lists Realtime Form Patcher as a requirement. Meaning it wont work without it.
Btw good idea as well to always check "Changelog" there before updating a mod.
This works fine unless you have a mod that changes container size. Is there a way to get this to override the mod? Im using royal galaxy and it stops this from working.
I understand it a little more now. I thought it would override everything, but I got it to work by matching the other mods values. Thanks for the mod and the reply.

But currently I do not see this mod as working.

thanks for reporting back :-)

rtfp syntax requires from_value and to_value..
so if from value is changed by sth else it wont do anything...
glad it all works for you now!
(but, I could REALLY use it for Storage Crates! ...hinting for your SECOND mod!) :)
Really appreciated.
Outpost Storage Crates Increased Capacity as a thank you for reporting back here :-)
