Hi folks. I'm new to this mod and tried to get it all setup today. I noticed that the "options" CFG file appears to have been hacked or something? If you open it it's in various languages, and if you translate it, it just says stuff like the USA is doomed and such. I wonder if this is part of why the resolution is not working?
We are in 2025, the resolution/fullscreen problems that have been around with this mod since 2021 still exist today. You cannot increase the resolution above 1080p, which would be fine but you cannot run the game in windowed mode without it being stuck in the top left of the screen.
I tried playing the game this way but the mouse sensitivity is so high due to the resolution mismatch, with no way to adjust it.
If we could get a way to fix the mouse sens, or move the game window to the center of the screen, or run the mod above 1920x1080 resolution without it crashing, that would be incredible and make this game+remastered mod still awesome. It doesn't really seem like a 'remaster' when it can't run on modern systems today without crashing due to resolution or fullscreen options being changed. I am not sure why they are in the .config file if they don't work.
doesn't work, won't even launch, clicking on game icon does nothing. EDIT: Yeah, it's the resolutions, only 3 resolutions work, if you use any other, you are sh#t out of luck, game won't launch so your only choice is to play a weird, misaligned resolution which your monitor doesn't support or to delete the entire damn thing and forget it even exists, which i am about to do.
Yup, this is still a problem in 2025. I don't know if the mod author never fixed this, or if its a bigger problem with the game in general, but fullscreen won't work for the default resolution of 1920x1080, and changing the resolution to anything above 1080p (a lot of us have 1440p or 4k monitors in 2025, I am trying to run this at 1440p 2560x1080 and no go) does not work.
I would just play the game in windowed mode, but its stuck in the top left of the screen, which is frustrating not having it centered. Also the mouse speed is extremely high in-game, with no option to lower the sens to make it playable. I have a Logitech Superlight with the dpi set to 450.
So mouse sens too high with no way to change it, and no way to adjust the resolution above 1080p or fix the windowed mode, it seems this remastered mod may be unplayable. If anyone has a fix or a different mod to get the game running in higher resolutions in full screen with proper mouse control, I would appreciate it. It is now April 2025 and it would be awesome to play this.
Is there any fix for the campaign saves not loading? I basically have to just pick new every single time I want to try and play it because it always crashes when trying to load a save game. Also it frequently crashes between missions which just exacerbates the crashing when loading my game issue. Maybe it's my fault for trying to play the single player but I've never played it before so I wanted to try it out with this mod. Also I've seen multiple mentions of a 1.3 from like a year ago, is that somewhere and I just can't find it or is that still just in the works?
Same problem here, I can only play the campaign from the start menu, every same game the game itself creates while playing the mission crashes the game. Event log of windows shows 0xc0000005 error, access violation.
Does it work without the mod? I just wanted to play the single player mode first.
Getting the same problem as well, save games never load. They work for me within the session I'm playing the game, but won't if I close the game and run it again.
Same problem it sometimes crashed when I try to load a save and then corrupts the save so it always crashes when I load it. Otherwise great job with the mod having a lot of fun.
In the past with original, i remember editing files (spent a long time tweaking to get right) to give my ships a love boost (yes cheating to call it what it was), and it was great, shields, weapons and really great repairing capabilities.
However i really don't have time to do that all again, but would love to play this remastered version.
Any ideas how to get great shields and weapons and what files i need to edit to achieve this.
To be clear, i don't wish to be invincible...for me this is pointless, but i do like to have.... a really powerful ship! (ha ha ha ha...evil laugh LOL)
hey all - anyone know how to get other mods working within this? having a ball but would like some extras like redistribute shields to work. when installing others, they appear in mutators, which i've turned on, but never show up in actual gameplay.
How do I access the new modes like wave defense and others? I also see videos of newer version with more ships and other addons but I can never find a download link. Where can I get those?
Is there a way to make all the new ships available in quick battle? Currently I can only select ships from the base game in quick play but in multiplayer I see all the new ships.
I installed it fresh from Gog. When I open the folder where it is installed, there are no folders except documents. Where do I install the mod files? It does match the description in the instructions.
BC cannot natively display any resolution axis larger than 2048 pixels (unless you use external programs). 1440p is 2560x1440, so it cannot display the full width. You can modify your game's options.cfg file to display 2048x1440, but that's the closest you can get. Also, this works for some systems but simply will not for others. The old game engine is very picky.
Mod is unplayable . Game crashes every few missons at single player .....load a savegame also impossible ......
Very Playable for me, Just follow the instructions. If you start the game from the mission selectors on the left in the main menu, those work just fine. Save games seem to work fine for me too, as long as to start the game from the mission selector. I do have a few grips but Kudos to keeping this game alive VonFrank, great work!
I can only play the campaign from the mission selector and not the save games the game itself produces while playing the campaign, a little bit frustrating because sometimes the game creates save points which you can't choose from the start menu
