So this is just an eye reshape so that they don't look as if they're bulging out? You might want to rename the mod to reflect that, so people aren't quick to assume you're attempting to "soften African features" or some nonsense. As I'm sure you're aware, the better call Cal mod got some attention for changing up how he looked, particularly by the actor, but I do think that had significantly to do with how the author mentioned "gingers". And with the way some folks like to stoke the flames of division along identity politic lines, I wouldn't put it past them to target this.
Personally I don't see anything wrong with the mod; it comes off completely neutral in its presentation and description IMO. Who knows how other people would respond though. With that said, you're obviously doing things that I, and other people, like when it comes to mods (specifically the recent Zobrak and female Cal mods, and talks of a Cal customizer). And this eye thing was something that many people mentioned being "bugged out" by, so it definitely caters to a target vocal audience that's out there. Anyway, you did a good job with it. Thanks for your hard work and good luck with this and all your mods.
EDIT: On further inspection it looks like you also reduced her cheekbone size too. I mean, I definitely see what you're going for here. If you look at the unmodified version, she gives off this gaunt, sort of skeletal appearance. Based on comments, that sort of freaks some people out. Personally I couldn't give a hoot about how she looks, but as I said before, it definitely fulflils a large target audience demand out there.
Well, it just a face edit mod, like there a tons of those for Witcher, DMC 5 and etc. Author haven't said anything in the description, unlike some other authors and commentators here, that were pretty loud about their dislike of Cal's vanila appearance. Something like that would lead normal people to asume that "nonsense" you have mentioned.
If you have read comment threads here at the very beginning, quite a lot of people were callling Cal's default appearance "disgusting", "freak", as well as other colorful adjectives. So, actor's reaction was actually quite understandable, from my point of view. The problem was not so much with mod, but with weird reaction from some commentators here, that led to reaction from actor, as I see it.
And if some people seek illusionary contex, interpritation or something else for this mod, just to be offended - they will always do that anyway, no matter what you do. As long as it's just a appearance mod and all commentators behave themselves - I don't think there would be any problems.
Thank you both, I appreciate the perspectives. I was afraid it would offend some people indeed and it felt weird doing this edit. I personally don't use the mod, really just a quick thing made for the people asking for it. I hope this doesn't blow up, I truly mean no disrespect. I guess it's a bit untactful to only do subtle reshape, turning her into a twilek could've been less controversial.. or maybe more. I'll just wait for more responses and remove the mod if it really comes to that.
@leonid9966. It's almost impossible to avoid offending when it comes to certain people, absolutely, and there's already a post kind of hinting toward that. Suggesting that the author is trying to "fix" something, when it clearly says it's just an edit. Obviously made for a lot of people who had seemed to comment on the character, or make specific requests for this.
As far as the comments on Cal's appearance, that's a bit much. I didn't read all of them as I kinda came around in the aftermath after seeing how the actor responded. "digusting" and "freak" really? Weird. I personally liked the better call Cal mod, but that's just because I prefer the gruffy look of the beard growth. So, it's always nice to be able to customize the main character to your preference.
@AlexPo21 I hope it doesn't blow up either. I don't think it should as leonid and yourself have pointed out, you've done this without negative meaning or disrespect. I mean, it's quite clear that it's just here to fill a demand that was undoubtedly out there.
Agreed, people just look for oportunities for offenses here around! Thank you for support, i have being waiting for this moment and am looking forward to a skilled texture replacement, for maybe some other female character or a mandalorian rogue ex jedi or sth. I actually waited and didnt play the game untill now, am very excieted and happy that i was heared!
@Senpaj you picked an EXCELLENT time to come to this game. EA just released a new DLC (free of charge!) on Monday, the 4th. It allows you to do NG+, keeping all your collectible lightsaber parts, clothing, and BD-1 / Mantis skins. There's also an arena/challenge mode that nets you points for performance based progress, of which you can use for purchase of in-game loot. I think I read there's also an arena & enemy customizer, so that you can face off against any enemy gauntlet of your choosing. And possibly more!
This game is positively awesome, and modders like AlexPo21 have made the experience that much more complete and rewarding.
To be honest I've seen pictures of Debra and the comic art of Cere, and it's not really got anything to do with the actor, Cere in game just has really overexaggerated features, even Debra's most unflattering angles don't come close to how Cere looks in game, I agree with you anyway, I feel like some people are really sensitive about it, even though a lot of the models in this game only bare some similarities to the actors who played them, this actually looks more like Debra at least to me.
Also if you take a look at that comic book with Cere on the cover, this edited face is perfectly accurate to how she looked there, and I will agree that the World is too political and sensitive , but that's all I'm going to say on politics.
@sekirolover00099 Wow thank you for notification! I didn't know about that. I am waiting for the model replacement for Cere and using the Dart Maul red skin for the first walk through, since i didn't finish even a half of the game yet, I will take a look on what is coming with arena and so on, i think if nothing comes out except for AlexPo's tweak (which i hope is not true and in fact it feels like it was solly my whining who brought this mod to existence but that's not the point here, I'm just happy it did!) I will use this one, since he made the face looking human again. But to be honest i had enough of this actress in Wolfenshtein, and i think it's just visually more appealing to put some female ex Jedi in there or a rogue, even a mandalorian rogue would be fitting, but not the looks of the actress I dont care about. It just spoils my immersion when I remember how many games she appears unmodified in rn. Cals face is anatomically wacky as well to be honest but you can at least replace him with Maul now, which is ton of awesome! Thank you for your answer friend!
I'm not offended by this at all. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if you went further. Debra Wilson looks nothing like this. Watched the woman on MadTV often, and it's plain to see they did her NO favors in this game.
Damn bro chill, no need to be a dick about it. It's fine if you've got your preferences, but there's this thing called tact that it might behoove you to learn. Didn't see anyone gatekeeping in here and you kind of just sound like a dipshit, lol.
Also not every character model in every game needs to be some supermodel-esque thing for you to fap to. ;)
Just reading the first few comments and my thoughts.. whoever originally crafted this NPCs face is the one who should be called out if anything.. they literally made an absolute cartoonish caricature of a black woman.
You've done a great service fixing their sloppy ass work, good on you mate.
They may have scanned her, but during retopology, rigging, or making shape keys, someone definitely fucked up her eyes. They don't look like that in any photos of her, half the time in the game they look like they're gonna fall out of her skull.
I mean no offense, and I agree there's nothing to fix. I see it as a different version of Cere the character for the people that want it, rather than a "fix" of Debra Wilson the actress.
I've got to agree with mindlesspuppet there. I genuinely think the game creators just messed up on the model I've compared images to the actress and the issues I have with the in-game model isn't a thing in real life just the model.
I mean, there is because the mesh itself is a really strangely exaggerated version of the actress. This mod edit makes her look waaaay more like the actual actor / real person, whereas the original mesh doesn't. It's not a "fix" like swapping in a whole ass other model. It's a tweak to make it more accurate to the real person.
Either way, mods exist to give us options. It's okay for people to play around with these things however they want to. The whole point is to give people options, and if you don't like some of them, just... don't download those mods? Far as I see it, it's fine to make mods. You could turn Cal into a literal golden retriever and that's *fine*. I mean, jesus, there's mods out there for all kinds of games that swap whole character models in for like, completely whack replacements (like a GTA Mod where you can play as a Teletubby lol). Where it gets NOT fine is when people are unnecessary cockwaffles about it and needlessly insult the actors or models. *That* s#*! isn't okay.
Part of the fun of mods is just giving people s#*! to play around with. Half of them aren't even serious, lol. Pretty sure Cal running around buckass naked is one of them, lmfao.
Bro just look at her face without mod, that thing doesn't even look human, i thought she was some kind of alien kkkkkkkkkkk They did a terrible job on modeling her into the game, don't even know why they didn't fix that before launching it, just look at her eyes, thank God this guy made this mod
what do you mean there is nothing to fix? people get plastic surgery to look better all the time. the actress is pretty ugly lets be honest here. i don't care if she doesn't want to get surgery but in my game, I don't wanna look at ugly people for hours. when did yall become such snowflakes getting offended for others.
Thanks for making this, the character model they made for Debra Wilson is bizarre and makes her look like a crackhead. This is a significant improvement, I'm surprised she allowed them to make her look like that in the game.
Hm. As much as I find her vanilla eyes gross, this mod doesn't really make it better. If it were just for the eyes, it would be good, but it seems this mod alters more than just her eyes and gives her a very unnatural look overall.
I checked the actress online and I don't know what was on their mind. She looks nothing like the goblin we got in the game. there seems to be a common trend to uglify women in video games and it's ridiculous.
I wouldn't touch most face edits (especially of women characters, extra-especially of Black women characters) with a 10-foot pole, but this mod is so good I could cry. Cere actually looks something like Debra Wilson now, instead of one of those stress balls where you squeeze it and the eyes pop out. I can't believe I 100 percented this game before without it, and having it for this replay is an utter relief.

Good job on getting rid of the bug-eyes.
