The youtube installation video is worthless. 3/4 of the mods I tried to install from Nexus don't even show up with this manager. Can someone point me to a good installation and use tutorial?
Platform: Steam Installation Method: Manual (I don't use Vortex/MO2)
Installation: Once you've downloaded the archive from the Main Files ("Mod Manager" Version 2.2.22 ), and extracted the folder/file ( "Mod Manager-96-2-2-22-1722377046" / "ModIntegrator.exe" ), you can pretty much execute/run the app (the .EXE file) from any location, but for me personally, I like to keep things grouped together, tidy, and organized, so I placed the ModIntegrator.exe in my game's root directory, where the "StateOfDecay2.exe" is located. Example:
Again, this is not needed; the Mod Manager works fine from any location you place the ModIntegrator.exe. This is just something I like to do.
I've also created a Shortcut on my Desktop for ModIntegrator.exe.
Installing Mods: When I want to install mods, more specifically mods that use ".PAK" files, they will always go into the "Paks" folder. Located in:
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved\Paks (Note: If you are installing mods for the first time and don't see a Paks folder, simply create one.)

For me personally, I prefer to manually Drag&Drop/Copy&Paste the .PAK file(s) into the Paks folder, instead of using the Mod Manager features.

Integration: Once you have your mod's .PAK files inside the Paks folder, then run the ModIntegrator.exe, and click the "Create Integration Pak" button (top right) if you are installing mods that require integration. Be aware, you only ever need to do integration ~IF~ the mod specifically says on their description page that the mod "Requires Integration". Integration is not needed for any mods that do not mention requiring integration. Each time you click the "Create Integration Pak" button, you will get a confirmation pop-up, letting you know integration was applied and working properly.

Load Ordering: You can do this by simply dragging the mod name Up or Down the list. I personally find it easier to just change/rename the number on the file name itself (within the Paks folder), or you can also use the number-boxes in the Mod Manager (Left side, under the "Order" column) and change their load number by editing the number-value.
The Mod Manager has a lot of other good features and functions (as mentioned on the description page), but I don't really use any of them, so don't ask me about them, lol. :)
This comment was far more useful to me than the (forgive my bluntness) shitty youtube video... I had no idea you had to make and place the mods into the game directory's Paks folder BEFORE adding them to the manager. I thought that the manager did this on it's own and could not figure out why it wasn't working. Thank you!
I tried all the suggestions below of manually putting them in the paks folder without mod manager and it still doesnt work. It just freezes the moment I try to start a new community. I think Im gonna leave the game alone until either this is updated or there is a new mod manager(though I doubt it). The only way I was able to somewhat work is to first delete the mod manager and the integration file, start the game and start a new community right up until you get the first base. Then quit the game, load the mod manager with the desired mods, and go back into the game load. That works put its tedious and frustrating. I hope someone or creator updates the mod please.
After I put the hades mods in the mod manger it won’t show up in my community after I hit the button for hades it won’t even show up on my screen does anyone having the same issue I am
If anyone else is having problems with integration crashing the game at the startup:
after lots of tries I can confirm:
change regional format setting to English US (start -> setting -> time & language -> regional format) seems only that setting is the important one ( I still have my extra language pack other than English, country set to different country than US) then you create the integration
I don't know if I did explain it in a understandable way but I hope this helps
PS: after generating integration.pak you can change regional format back to whatever you want
