For what purpose this mod is? I am using steam input, all support of playstation controllers are enabled on steam and Stray shows dualshock prompts for my dualsense, dualshock 4 v1 and v2 and even for Dualshock 3!
I can confirm that even when used wireless, for me the Dualshock 4 buttons correctly show up. Maybe they updated this. In Fallout 4 it doesn't so I'll still use a mod for that.
Stray does have Dualshock support, you just need to disable PlayStation Support on the Steam options. A mod like this is always nice though, because third-party Dualshocks are recognized as Xbox controllers by Windows.
Because 'steam controller support' takes that controller (whatever controller you have thats not xbox) and emulates it into an xbox controller to make it windows compatible.
But as more games are released that are natively dualshock compatible, they require steam controller support to be disabled for dualshock so that the connection between the controller and the game isnt being interrupted and warped by steam telling the game its actually an xbox controller. If you leave it enabled you get xbox prompts but disable it and you get dualshock prompts and functionality (in games that support it).
As a side note, in my experience, games that support dualshock natively usually require it to be plugged into the pc, not connected via bluetooth, for them to recognise the controller without steam (or ds4windows) emulating it to an xbox controller. If you connect via bluetooth with this setting off, you get no input, but with it on you get xbox prompts.
The mod notes recognize it has Dualshock4/DS support, in that it recognizes the controllers and responds to their input. At least ime though, it still shows Xbox buttons despite having 'native' support. Perhaps a bug, but this is what this mod is intended to address.
Why bother with that? I play with pirate copy from tracker and this mod is perfect for that cuz game displays only xbox buttons even by emulating ds4 in ds4windows.
It shows dualshock/dualsense prompts if you 1. Turn off steam controller support for playstation 2. Don't use ds4windows 3. Use the controller plugged in (not via bluetooth).
There is no glitch. Using ds4windows emulates an xbox controller just like steam controller support. I've already explained what that means but the comments after me seem hell bent on getting it wrong. The game natively has dualshock buttons shown in game if you, the user, don't run a compatibility layer on top. Thats where the mod author and those commenting have messed up by not turning off compatibility layers that make the game think its an xbox controller, designed for games that don't natively have dualshock support.
Native dualshock support means showing dualshock prompts in game, not just recognising the inputs.
It looks like something changed after update 1. Now It shows XB buttons if you select "Disable Steam Input" 2. You need to select "Use default settings" to play as PS buttons

DS4Windows also has the ability to emulate DS4 controllers, you have an option with each profile you setup.
