First, please make sure to check that the answer you're looking for isn't already somewhere in the description or somewhere in the comments. Use the search bar at the top right to search for keywords.
Second, check the FAQ which provides answers to common questions and troubleshooting issues.
If you still need help, feel free to leave a comment below describing your issue and I'll try to help you out. Ideally, accompany your comment with a link to a copy of your full log file (found at Subnautica > BepInEx > LogOutput.log) uploaded publicly to GitHub Gist, pastebin, Google Drive or similar. If you can't find the log file, it is very likely you haven't installed BepInEx correctly and you should first make sure to re-read the instructions carefully. If you are confused about something in the instructions, feel free to ask for clarifications.
But be forewarned: if you're just going to ask a question which could have been answered by reading the description, the FAQ, or the other comments already here, there's a good chance you'll get a snarky response for wasting my time
Glad you fixed it, but just to answer anyways since I keep getting people asking for help with similar issues:
This is a Vortex issue and not specific to this mod or even this game. I do not maintain Vortex itself, and I do not offer support for Vortex. When you have issues with Vortex - which is made and maintained by Nexus Mods staff, not by people who happen to release mods on their platform - the first place to ask for help with it would be in the Nexus Mods discord or the Vortex support section of the Nexus Mods forums, not in the comment section of whatever mod you happen to be trying to install when you run into issues with Vortex. Additionally, you may wish to refer to the Vortex Troubleshooting section in the wiki found on Vortex's GitHub repository.
I'm having trouble on Mac. I used the terminal command to install it, and it said it had installed just fine, but when I open Subnautica (BepInEx), it crashes right after the epilepsy warning. My log file is here. My copy of Subnautica is owned through Epic Games; idk if that has anything to do with it.
Hmm, odd. The log looks normal albeit cut off earlier than one would expect. I don't have a copy of the game on Epic to test with unfortunately. Not sure what I can do for you on this one 😕
Ok so I attempted 4 times and had 2 other people also attempt to install this manually following YOUR instructions of copy paste: That just means open the .zip file (e.g. double click it) and drag-and-drop the files and folders into the game folder! and these files DO NOT EXSIST ANYWHERE... I didn't find them, neither did my husband, neither did my sister and she IS a modder:
winhttp.dll
doorstop_config.ini
I searched EVERY SINGLE folder for them just in case they were in a subdirectory but no. And NO log file was made either when I did as YOU said and ran the game and then exited! FAIL
Those two files are in the .zip you downloaded. Make sure you downloaded the latest version at the top of the page. They need to end up in the game folder, next to the Subnautica.exe. But I'm curious: Why be aggressive about it rather than asking for help and clarification like a normal person? "FAIL" 🤣
On Windows, it's just open the .zip, select everything, drag it all into the game folder. That's it. The lengthy explanation is for people who are computer illiterate. It's lose-lose, either I try to make them as foolproof as possible which makes them super long and increases the chance someone skimreads and misses something important (which seems to be what happened here), or I keep them concise and have people turning up confused about how to open a .zip file, or what "the game folder" means. I've done my best to try and cater to both advanced and novice users alike... But some people are still going to get confused no matter what I do. So I'm sorry that you found my instructions unclear, I'm sure there's room for improvement in them, but there's no need to be rude about it. Writing instructions isn't my job - neither is making mods. This is just one of my hobbies. Perhaps once you have it working you might like to suggest how I can improve the instructions?
But anyway, if it hasn't worked, then perhaps share a screenshot of your game folder so I can see how you have it set up? You can upload screenshots to imgur or similar, and put a link in here. Or you can alternatively join the discord server linked above, where lots of people who have BepInEx installed and working can try and help talk you through it.
greetings, Im having an issue with vortex when i download this saying, "deployment failed 36 files were not correctly deployed" any Ideas? It also says this mod is redundant, in the notification setting.
It is not an issue with the pack. This pack has no control over how Vortex behaves. This pack just includes the files that Vortex is supposed to install. Your issue is with Vortex.
Esper89.TerrainPatcher is required for the Subnautica REd Plague mod. I have a clean install of Subnautica, extracted to the Plugins folder, wont load that plugin. Removed and reinserted it to the plugins folder in the correct folder Plugins again and it still refusing to load?? Kinda stumped. Please help
Most likely you just haven't installed things correctly. You put it in BepInEx -> plugins, right?
I can't help much without a log file. Instructions on how to send a log file are in the sticky note at the top of this page. You may also want to join the Subnautica modding discord server, which is also linked at the top of this page, as you will get help much quicker there for general installation issues.
If you can't find the BepInEx log file, this usually means that you have not installed this pack correctly. In which case, a screenshot of your game folder will do.
I'm having an issue where once I install mods manually, I cannot access my Tab. I uninstalled and reinstalled Subnautica. This issue seems to occur with any mod - I've tested a couple of mods. At first, if I removed all of the mods I could then access Tab, however, I've taken all of the mods out except Bepin and I'm still having the issue.
when I install this mod and launch the game I start getting "multiplayer chat like" message on the left upper corner in game and it doesn't disappear. How can I get rid of them ? (I installed this using vertex)
the messages are like: " LeviathanKraken Says: Monkey D. Luffy approves" "KooKoo says: you scallywag!!" ...
That's not from this. One of the mods you have installed has anti piracy checks. This pack does not include that, but this pack is what is loading your other mods into the game.
This means something is screwy on your computer. Possibly Vortex isn't handling it correctly, but likely something else, like perhaps you have a third party antivirus that is quarantining the winhttp.dll or something. Would need to see it for myself to be of any help. I would recommend joining the Subnautica modding discord linked above, and possibly the Nexus Mods discord (to eliminate whether Vortex is causing an issue).
But yeah, no LogOutput.log means BepInEx is not getting injected (and when using this pack with this game usually means it is not directly installed - or that is was but now isn't). A screenshot of the game folder would help.
Also, don't clear the appdata without being instructed to do so. No need. Some games store game saves there and this would be unfortunate for you to lose without being instructed... In this case it's just some log files, but it's also just a waste of time.
I keep gettin crashed from game without any message because of BepInEx i think. I just see the warning when you join game for a second and then i gettin crashed My game is license, Epic Games and i dont know what to do Also i dont get BepInEx console, i remember playing on my old laptop on epic license, but it stopped working now too when i download any version Downloaded with vortex, didnt worked too
The console is disabled by default. In previous versions we did enable it by default, but now it is disabled. You can enable it if you want, but I disabled it for performance reasons. Info about that is in the FAQ linked at the top of the page.
Does it still crash if you disable this BepInEx pack? E.g. with Vortex just disable it, or for manual install rename winhttp.dll to _winhttp.dll
Are you making sure to launch the game from the Epic launcher?
Does it still crash if you start a new game rather than loading a save?

Install Subnautica plugin for Vortex.
Installed BepinEx when prompted by Vortex. Confirmed the files are installed G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Subnautica\BepinEx
Running Subnautica at this point should generate a LogOutput.log file but does not.
Installed a couple mods to test.
G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Subnautica\BepInEx\plugins contains:
Nautilus, QuickSlotsPlus, SubnauticaMod Manager, Tobey, & vortex.deployment.bepinex-plugin.json
BepinEx.cfg contains:
[Logging.Disk]
WriteUnityLog = true
[Logging.Console]
Enabled = true
I see no console. and still no LogOutput.log in the BepinEx folder.
I was able to use Subnautica with mods a week ago and was successful in playing a game with a bunch of mods installed at that time.
I am running Subnautica V. 71288
Build Date: 3/2/2025 05:50 PM

This has resolved the issue and mods are working again.
Subnautica shows a Mods menu option also.
Thanks for your help.
