This doesn't seem to work for me either and no options for this mod show up in the configuration manager. Only mods I have (in order) are:
Tobey's BepInEx Pack for Subnautica
Nautilus
Enable Achievements (BepInEx)
Vanilla Expanded 2.915 (Nautilus 2.0)
Configuration Manager for BepInEx
Vehicle Framework
10 of your other mods
Then, finally, this mod (Free Read)
I also have an error that says Vehicle Framework isn't compatible with Vanilla Expanded. I'm also using Vortex and made sure the mods were in the above load order.
Thank you for the clarification. I did find this mod's options in the Nautilus mod menu. This mod works, but not in the way I initially imagined. If I press the built-in button to automove, then press right control, I open the PDA and stop moving. So basically, I have to stop moving before pressing right control. I imagine that's because this mod was created before auto-move was added to the base game. It would be cool to have this mod get updated so the engine noises are playing, like when using the base game's auto-move feature.
Thanks for the bump. Check out today's update. It adds the Seamoth sounds back and changes the way FreeRead works. Now, when FreeRead is on, you can move normally in your vehicle (not just forward at a fixed rate). You can even use auto-move.
edit: it's so stupid how the mods work if you don't use Vortex since Vortex can load mods one before the other... i removed all mods and started putting them back dozen by dozen and when i added Free Read last it doesn't conflict with Tweaks & Fixes mod anymore.
I use to use lots of automated things like mod manages and ini tools for all my games. Now I do everything manually for every game and keep copies of the entire directory as backup.I know everything that happens. I have full control. I always revert any issues. It's not a popular way to mod but it's better than trouble shooting issues for me. Tweaks and Fixes is awesome but it conflicts with many mods.
I'm pretty sure you can change the order of deployment of mods in vortex... I used that so tweaks & Fixes deploys first before this mod. Thanks for that info btw!
Does this work without Nautilus? There's four different files and I'm wondering if the one that says it makes it into a BepInEx plugin, only uses BepInEx? If so, is it compatible with 2.0 LL update?

Does this mod show up in the mod options menu? You should be able to configure the "free read button" there.
If so, what happens when you press the free read button? Normally, you should open your PDA and begin moving forward in your seamoth.
If you're on legacy, you can try version 1.0.0

Lately I feel like Vortex has been more trouble than it's worth. I'm glad you got it to work!
That's a good idea, and it's in line with this mod.
However, I can't find the source code for the map mod, so to patch it would be quite difficult.
Edit: Unfortunately, this won't work with PDA pause which should really have a toggle inside the game.
What happens when you get into a Seamoth and press Right Control?
