Is there any chance we'll see something like this for floating storage lockers? I consistently have a few of mine disappear after a while. I don't know what causes it or if the issue is in any way related to the loading/unloading of terrain, but I thought I'd ask.
are you sure stalkers aren't stealing them? I know I lost 2 waterproof Lockers that way and found them in a cave that the stalkers in that area like to go into for fish... same with the camera's from the scanner room which is actually how I found the lockers as the stalker stole a camera which has a ping and found it next to the lockers
It's in the middle of the safe shallows, with no stalkers around, and I disabled stalkers from taking them using Tweaks and Fixes. I leave the area, come back, and they just are... gone.
If only you knew stalkers that follow you into the safe shallows will steal your stuff... If only this mod would recover the cameras that they steal and occasionally drop into the terrain
I can't speak to the storage lockers, but the terrain only has collision on one side. So if a scanner room camera gets taken under the ground, you should be able to drive it back above ground with no issue.
I see that it uses the persistent reapers mapping system in the description; do I have to install that mod for this to work? all of my metal fragments are falling through the world with this mod on.
No, this mod stands alone. It also can take a few seconds to several minutes to take effect. If a scrap metal falls through the ground, it should eventually come back up, but it won't happen immediately.
No, that's not normal. They should basically remain where they are. I suspect there's some kind of error in your BepInEx log. I'd be happy to look into it if you share that with me.
Is it possible for a stalker tooth to be too deep (screenshot) for this mod to recover? I've waited 20 minutes for one particular tooth to come back up and it won't budge!
The depth doesn't matter, but if the tooth settles, it'll remain there permanently. Otherwise, it should take less than one minute for the tooth to "pop back up" into the right place.
In other words, I think it is probably the case that the tooth found somewhere "appropriate" to land down there.
If not, then I recommend you to go a few hundred meters away so that the tooth "unloads." After that, go back near the tooth so that it "reloads." If the tooth hasn't found a place to settle, this little maneuver should give my fix another chance to take effect.
I just tried the latest version of this mod both with SMLHelper version 2.13.3 and 2.14, and it loads as expected in both cases. Perhaps you need only to update to the latest SMLHelper. If that doesn't fix the problem, please send me your QMod log so I can see what went wrong.
Any chance of checking the ores that spawn when you break stone deposits to prevent them falling through the terrain as well? I've had the contents of Shale deposits vanish into the wall when I broke them (when above water on the Enforcement Platform island). Items dropping inside caves might be harder to handle, I guess, since a simple heightmap wouldn't suffice...
You're right; the height map restricts this to only make sense for objects that have no ground above them, making it applicable to only a few items like the stalker teeth and scrap metal. Without a more comprehensive map, I'm not sure I can do anything for ore deposits.

Good luck!

I freaking ahted it when this stuff would go under the map!
