--INSTALLATION-- Hello! The video explains unpacking very clearly so I am re sending it here, but if you still cannot watch it, follow the steps mentioned below the video
Go to Steam > steamapps > common > Last Of Us Part 1 > build > pc > main
1) Download the unpacker and the mod files provided in the download link.
2) Open the U4 Unpacker and add the files present in the unpacker folder in your main folder directory that you opened.
3) In the directory bar (where it says steam > steamapps > common etc.) type cmd and press enter
4) Copy paste this command U4.Unpacker.exe "sp-common.psarc" "./"
5) Hit enter and wait 5 minutes for the whole unpacking process to complete
6) In your main folder, rename your sp-common.psarc to sp-common_original.psarc and your bin.psarc to bin_original.psarc so that the game does not read the original files! And make A BACKUP of your Default pak68.txt located in main folder if you want to ever revert.
7) After unpacking, you will see folders such as actor97, texturedict3, soundbank4 etc.
8) Copy paste the two .pak files provided in MY mod folder (make sure you unzip the mod folder) in your actor97 folder
9) Finally, drag and drop the pak68.txt and bin folder provided in my mod folder into your main folder and launch the game, equip the correct skins.
To revert: Simply paste your default pak68.txt in your main folder and rename your bin_original.psarc to bin.psarc and sp-common_original.psarc to sp-common.psarc (back to their original names)
It doesn't seem to work for me, i just used a save to unlock the menu to buy the skins, i have just installed the game, but when i select the gray shirt, it's just the old Joel face, with wrinkles, with the hair of the younger one! And i did everything right! O_o
I've checked and it still works after the new update i.e version 1.1.4
Make sure your TLOU is updated, and rename your bin.psarc and sp-common.psarc to bin_original and sp-common_original.psarc and also make sure you read the installation guide correctly and added the .pak files in your actor97 folder IF YOU DID THIS BEFORE UPDATING/STILL ISN'T FIXED:-
TLOU will automatically make a new sp-common and bin due to the previous one having _original in their name, thus your update size probably being 10 gigabytes. SO MAKE SURE TO CHECK FOR DUPLICATE FILES (SP-COMMON AND BIN), DELETE THE OLD ONE AND RENAME THE NEW ONE AFTER UPDATE WITH "_original"
There is no duplicate psarc files, bin and sp common, and unfortunately this mod and the other one, the young face, make the frame generation option disappear from the menu, and both doesn't work for me, i mean the face it has the wrinkle of the old joe! I mean this is from the young Joel face mod but the result is the same as your https://imgur.com/tlou-i-2025-01-25-15-29-30-712-jpg-L7GA3q4 and it can't be right ? The wrinkles are from the old Joe and the hair from the young Joel! O_O
Okay first of all, THAT face is young Joel, he is 32 years old, at that age everyone might probably get wrinkles at least on their forehead another way to tell it's young joel is that his face looks a lot cleaner under sunlight, additionally, his beard wraps his face correctly. The Frame Generation option cannot just disappear, I'm pretty sure it is under display settings and not graphics or other way around. Secondly I know the image is of the other mod, but if you're using my mod:- you have equipped the default skin in the image, the mod asks you to equip grey shirt or grey sweatshirt. If the color of the shirt is still grey after installing the mod, the answer is simply:- 1) You have not unpacked your sp-common file as shown in the video 2) You have not drag n' dropped the .pak files provided in the mod folder into your unpacked actor97 folder 3) finally, you have not renamed sp-common to sp-common_original.psarc
If you have any further questions feel free to ask them and provide images like you have so it can be easier to solve.
Sorry for the late reply, i was busy with other stuff in these months, i finally got it to work correctly, but frame generation option disapperead from the game like the first time, i repeat all the steps one by one, and i had it already active frame gen in the game before applying the mod, so it still active in game, but it's not present in the option anymore, if i restore the original file it will be back. See ? It should be in this section and it's not! The menu is in italian, because i'm playing in italian!
That is weird, swapping models and textures should have absolutely nothing to do with the graphics settings, have you tried verifying the game files? or maybe somewhere along the way of installing the save file the graphic settings got messed up as well? All I can do to help is ask you to verify the game files, maybe install some other mod and if it still occurs then let me know, I'll try rebuilding this particular mod in maybe a more simplified version without default joel and all
P.S. May I know why you want to enable frame generation? judging by the screenshot your PC is perfectly capable of handling everything on Ultra 4k without any problems
I'm at the part in the sewers where I need to grab the pallet for Ellie cross and turn on the power, as soon as I enter the room the game just suddenly crashes. The only other mod I'm using is the Phoenix glasses for Ellie but as soon as I reverted this one, it seemed to work normal afterwards so I can't proceed the sewers at all with this active.
it could be both the mods clashing, have you tried using my mod alone? it should work since all I did was a simple model and texture swap, game crashing should not occur unless you're using two incompatible mods at the same time, or during installation you may have accidently messed up the files.
I actually did try using just your mod alone but for some reason it still crashes whenever I tried to load in. I did make sure to install it correctly but I'm not sure why it was just affecting only this part of the game and not the rest.
Yo man, the mods sick, just the only issue I have is with the “default” skin, I think everytime theres a cutscene it reverts back to the boston outfit or the default outfit for the specific part of the game. Wondering if its possible to make that young joel a outfit rather than the default. P.S thanks for all the joel mods. Cheers.
Yes, as I have stated in the description and download description only equip the sweatshirt or the grey shirt, In brief: The default skin is so that the model viewer displays Young Joel. So don't equip the default skin as it is just there for the model viewer to work, only the sweatshirt or grey shirt. Cheers and Thank You!
I was just asking if its possible (as i have no knowledge in modding for this game) to make the "outfit" as seen in the model viewer as its own outfit. Apologies for the confusion.
Sorry If I am still misunderstanding your question, but the outfit in the model viewer (which I think you're referring to Young Joel) is already it's own outfit, that's the mod, I've replaced The model viewer and the grey shirt with Young Joel, both have been replaced, and if you wear the correct costume the skin won't revert back to the original. Please elaborate further if I still don't understand it.
Hey man, its all good. From what I've seen the one in the viewer/default outfit is the prologue Joel outfit while the ones we can select is the grey t-shirt from the base game, just with young/old Joel. I did just learn how to use Speclizers actor browser, and I learned how to do outfit swapping of my own I will upload some. Also thanks a ton for taking the time to respond and be of assistance, kudos!
Ah I understand. Okay, so the grey shirt is just a recolor of the original prologue shirt. So I replaced the grey shirt with the textures of the blue one. As the brown, grey and prologue have the same normals, wrinkles. It's just a re-skin. The problem with adding the original is that Joel naturally doesn't have a watch on his torso, so you could add Joel directly but remember the cutscenes won't make sense when Ellie talks about Joel's watch because it won't be there and to add it you would have to add the model onto the torso. Since the grey and brown shirt have a watch all I had to do is replace the grey texture color files with the prologue blue color and same with the pants.
Ah alright, that makes a lot of sense. I’ve been waiting for someone to use prologue Joel’s “legs” to fix the winter gear outfit since it’s not super accurate to TLOU 2. But I ended up just doing it to every skin. Again, thanks for the time to reply.
Hello! Please elaborate further, you can try these things if you haven't:-
1) Unpack the files using the unpacker link provided, your main folder should have "actor97" "texturedict3" folders etc. ALSO make sure your bin.psarc and your sp-common.psarc both are renamed with an _original so that the game does not read it (bin_original.psarc and sp-common_original.psarc"
2) Make sure you drag and dropped BOTH the .pak files provided in the mod folder into your actor97 folder and replace the original files, also make sure you have dragged and dropped the bin folder provided in main folder and also the pak68.txt.

Thanks man, you should put this one to the description.
This tutorial more understanding for some people, I think :)
