is there any reason into why i can't open ndarc.exe ? i've also tried unPSARC but it goes for as far as the 1st view, anything i press closes it. thinking its windows, tried allowing it via controlled access still doesn't work. been trying to unpack main/speech1 (english.psarc) file to mod voicelines and characters audio but been halted by unpacking PSARC file. any idea on how to get pass this issue ?

they are both command line tools. you don't "open" them. you run them in a command prompt, or follow the usage instructions on the description page

Hi! I just had a quick question. I'm new to modding but I'm interested in it, so I saw this video from last-ghost-gaming on how to extract assets from Naughty Dog games and he used a tool called unPSARC or something along those lines. I'm guessing this does the same job as that but for TLOU2 right? But there's a few things that are different here.

    1. He says you need to move some .dll file from the game's directory to the folder with the unpacking tool (which in his case was unPSARC). But there is no dll file with the same name here and this tool only seems to have only one .exe and no other files so would I be right in assuming I don't have to copy anything into the ndarc folder?

    2. In order to unpack the character assets, he unpacks the actor77.psarc file from build/pc/uncharted4. But in TLOU2, there is no "actor" file with the psarc extension. So I wanted to know which file I should be unpacking, in order to make changes to the characters. Is it "common.psarc" or "core.psarc" or "sp-common.psarc" or something else?

I might have more questions as I keep going (Like how to pack a modded file back into the game) but I just want to figure this out first. Lol.
    Thanks in advance!

unPSARC can be used with TLOU2 too. For TLOU2 you don't need to search for dll.

both this tool and UnPSARC require the oodle dll if you are extracting files from a psarc file using oodle compression. TLOUP2 does not require this, so ndarc and UnPSARC can both extract contents without it. if you want to create a new psarc file for TLOUP2, you have to use ndarc. UnPSARC does not support creating psarc files that TLOUP2 can read.

TLOUP1 uses oodle, and thus requires the oodle dll be in the same folder as ndarc or UnPSARC (whichever you are using). you can find the oodle dll in the TLOUP1 game folder.

Awesome! Thank you so much for such a quick reply! That definitely clears some of my doubts. I haven't used your tool yet cause I didn't know which one of the files to extract in order to access the character assets. But I suppose I could just try doing one of the 3 files I mentioned in my original comment and see what happens. Lol. But if either of you would be willing to answer any more questions along the way, or even pointing me towards some tutorials, forums or a discord server or something, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again to the both of you who replied! Appreciate it!

Hey, I'm also struggling (and failing) to edit character assets (like adding certain hairstyles to different outfits, for example). Seems we share a common goal and are similarly lost!

I haven't been able to find any insight or tutorials online as to how to navigate this process :/ If you have any to offer, I'd be much obliged!

Hey! Honestly, I haven't even gotten as far as you have. I only downloaded this tool but never actually used it and I've also been busy for the past 10 days so I haven't really been gaming or modding on my computer either. But honestly, the only modding tutorials I watch are from "Last-Ghost-GAMING" because he keeps uploading frequently and usually makes videos for new games and they're pretty easy to follow. If you're having trouble, I'd probably just wait for him to upload a TLOU modding video or maybe try to get in touch with one of the other TLOU mod creators and see if they'd be willing to help you figure it out.

But I also have a couple of buddies who are game design grads so I guess I could ask one of them for help but I don't know how familiar they are with making mods for existing games. Lol. But let me know exactly what you're having trouble with and I can see if I can help with that particular issue or ask one of my buddies if they can help. In the meantime though, if you find any other useful tutorials or get in touch with a modder, let me know so I can look them up too. Lol. Good luck, man!

Hi, I don't know if this is really the right place, as I haven't found the answer anywhere else. But I used your mod to unpack TLOUPart2 and I'd like to read and export ".pak" files with Neosis, but every time I try to read a model, I get "ERROR: Failed to load base skeleton | Geometry data not found! | Failed to construct model."

So if anyone has a solution or an answer, thanks in advance !

You just drag and drop the file onto the exe, I thought that too but had some help.

Do you know how I might be able to configure a mod so that, say, Ellie's Santa Barbara haircut is attached to her Seattle outfits? I think it has something to do with the actor97.txt file, but I'm lost as to where to go from there.

Sorry to burden you with this. I tried searching online for tutorials and additional insight, but there don't seem to be any.

Thank you for the incredible mod.

just wanted to say: great tool .. easy, works, got everything i wanted from it* <3

(* except the Take on Me version from Ellie ingame .. but it seems like the ingame guitar sessions are actually an anim with each string playing the note separately ^^, unless its somewhere in the pak files .. which i have no clue on how to open)

so all in all .. thanks :3

*EDIT: nvm .. found the audio stuff too .. thx ^^

Would it be possible to add an option to print to the console when files are extracted? Or some other way to indicate to the user that the extraction is working. Currently, you  just see static text in the terminal, and users could get confused and think that the process is not working when it is, just not giving an indication.

i generally don't like console spam because it can slow down performance a bit, but i updated it and added a percentage indicator so people know it's actually working. thanks for the suggestion
