The idea behind it is that with the crosshair lowered and the player facing directly forward, less of the screen is taken up by the ground and more of it is on what's important. In a game like Halo, it's especially helpful because of how vertical combat encounters tend to be.
That being said, an in-game option would be nice for people who prefer it centered.
I know this kinda falls out of the scope of this "mod", but when I change the settings, the iron sights fall a decent ways under the targeting dot. I wanted to use the centered aim with iron sights for a bit more immersion, but I don't want to have to shoot at someones feet to hit them in the head. Is there a way to align the iron sights to the aim point?
sadly no, Obsidian did the bare minimum to allow for centered crosshair, and aligning the model with the center of the screen was not something they cared to do
