Fantastic idea!, I always regreted warping all over the place like a star trek toddler, it breaks the viking immersion, may as well add lazer pistols to go with the warp gate portals, does this work on a dedicated server?
My server has them disabled and i love it. One night awhile back two people mentioned how they miss them but we are all still loving it and our current seed is day 436.
I always disable all fast travel in games as i hate them so much and it's staying disabled in Valheim.
Because fast travel sucks. Worst invention in games ever. (I guess a lot of people disagree, but that's just, my opinion, man.) Unfortunatley I might get tempted/get lazy from time to time, so this is actually very welcome for me.
Yeah i need something like this for the Lunix Dedicated Server. That would be awesome so i can disable portals on our server. We have rules for that but ppl might be tempted to place some where others are not looking.
@MrInspirer if you only play with your friends, its okey, dont use portals and done. If you have a dedicated server, with 25+ people at the same time, and maybe someone wants to fast travel, fucking the game experience of the rest of players, you only can ban that player, but with this mod you dont need it so.
I appreciate the idea of this mod, though most people that don't want to use portals I would assume would just resist building them in the first place? lol But I can see using this with friends to make sure no one decides to cheat after everyone's agreed to not make any maybe. Surprised this is the only portal mod I've seen yet though. I kind of prefer not using them too... but am not entirely against them and would love to see a mod that just makes them more expensive to build, or maybe limits how many can be built, and also has a cost each time to use too maybe?
They place a nice firm wall between people who whine and complain about not being able to transfer metals through portals, and those who want to build roads, set sail, and go on a nice Viking journey. (If you died in the Plains 2 hours away from your home, that's your fault)
It would be nice to be able to have different portals without having to be associated by a common name. as you approach a portal (any), display the list of portals and choose the desired destination
