Hello, i use vortex to install mods. Ive downloaded the mod and ran the game once like said in the description to create the config file, but even running the game once the file was not created, theres no config file inside BepInEx/cfg.
This is a redundant mod. Same thing is accomplished by Valheim plus. You can set each individual demister source to a specific value, in the config file.
amazing mod ! using it right now ! so happy this exists ! cuz oh boy the vision was awfull in mistlands with the default wisp hopefully a update from this one with upcoming ashlands cuz i will miss this one for sure !
Great mod! Easy install, easy cfg change. I hate the mist and when I set the multiplier to 3, chef's kiss. Setting it to 3 also gets some crazy pretty sunsets.
Very underrated mod. Thank you so much for this, I pumped it up to 4x and that's perfect. The base game should have had the ability to upgrade the wisp like this so thanks for doing it right
Solid mod! For anyone looking, this works for Wisp Torches. There are 2 other mods that don't. Just put the multiplier at a 5 or 6 and you'll be good. Never have to fuss with it again.
If you are the only one with the mod installed, only you will see the effect of the increased demisting range as far as I'm aware.
I think I've already mentioned in another comment, but yeah I haven't looked into any server side modding so no clue on how it'd function if installed there so current assumption is for every player that wants the effect to have it downloaded.
A much needed mod to the abysmal vanilla range, thank you so much for this.
About the fps drop, each wisp torchlight is what affects performance, if you go in a new mistland area with just wisplight, even 10x won't affect performance, but i tried 8x in an area i heavily used wisptorches, like 50+ torches (which is what is needed to uncover a modest area with vanilla), fps was 5-10 on a 3080.
So if it's your first go at mistlands, try vanilla to experience how awful it is, and then set it to 2x/3x for normal play.
Just to add in on performance encountered. I installed this today along with my other mods and went to a spot I set up in the ML near a Dvergr tower I took over and set up a mushroom farm. I have a decent amount of wisp torches in the area (between 15-20 iirc) and the mod worked perfectly. My FPS in that area was 88-109 at 1440p.
For some more context I do run with Willybach's texture pack but I have some graphics options turned off (motion blur, DoF, and chromatic aberration). The server I was on is a dedicated server that I run as a VM, it has 4CPU cores and 32 GB of ram. So perhaps having the server running on another machine made a difference here.
@Krueznik yeah, most of the performance affecting part of the mod is just kind of a informated guess combined with a botched test flying with cheats.
To my understanding the way the game has it set up is that the fog itself is a "particle effect" and demisters are a particle pushing field essentially so it makes sense for any static demisters like torches to probably be less bad since the particles arent gonna be actively pushed anywhere else, but with something like the Wisplight and Mistwalker the demister moves along with the player so if the multiplier is quite high and player is moving fast it'd be more particles moving constantly that the machine has to figure out.

Has anyone tested this with other players (either on local or dedicated servers)?
Does the "demister" effect apply to other players as well, or only to me?
Thanks,
Kay

Yes, I also read your "not sure" comment below. I hope that someone else has tried this and can give feedback...

Thanks again Toombe.

My gaming rig is using a 2080ti and a 9600k @5Ghz

Hopefully any of that made some sense 😅
