The BetterTerrain mod reworks Valheim's terrain modification system to eliminate performance issues caused by mining and leveling ground. For more information about the issue this fixes, please refer to this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/lqcr88/reason_behind_low_fps_and_huge_instance_numbers/
BetterTerrain fixes this by destroying the objects that represent terrain modifications, and instead saving the world's heightmaps as a .hmap file in the world save directory when the world is saved, and loading it when the world is loaded.
ATTENTION: YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO LOAD WORLDS IN VANILLA AFTER YOU THEM WITH BETTERTERRAIN
WARNING: THIS MOD DOES NOT WORK WITH SERVERS AT THE MOMENT, IT IS SINGLE PLAYER ONLY
This mod is a proof of concept, I can't guarantee the safety of your saves if you don't back them up.
