    NEWS
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Sept 20 2021
fixed skill up notifications, for now i just removed the feature that tries to move the notification, I never got it working quite like i wanted it to anyway. ?

    Sept 16 2021:
    ?
    Quick patch for H&H update.

    6/2/2021
Currently in the middle of moving, i haven't forgotten about this but don't know when ill get back to it.

    4/2/2021

    Updated to 0.0.8e

    •  Found a dumb mistake, I think most of the intermittent helmet issues should be fixed.
    • Added option to change the mouse sensitivity for first person mode.

    3/31/2021
Sorry I took a small break from Valheim altogether, before I got burnt out. After the last update I played for real for the first time since I
released the mod, I finally loaded up and went for my 2nd expedition to get iron, I started the mod right after I got a little iron and built a
stone keep. So I've still got a lot of game to play and did not want it to feel like work.

I'm going to get back to fixing the helmet issues and hopefully finally trying to fix the issue of the nearclipplane being set low making sun rays flicker, its a known problem, which I found fixes for (involving adding another camera which I've proven in theory, but it did not have any of the main camera's shaders, so it looked horrible, so that would involve replicating all that, not sure how much of a pain it would be.) but also found out that it looks like it might be fixed in an updated version of unity Unity Issue Tracker
so if Valheim ever updates to the newest version it could just be solved.

currently working on the helmet issues,
    also working on:

    • player clipping
    • a few other small qol ideas.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Old Patch notes
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Updated to 0.0.8d

    0.0.8d

    • Helmets now cast shadows in first person.
    • fixing aiming in multiplayer.
    • Completely changed how Its removing the helm, which came with fixes for multiplayer and every situation that i could throw at it both in single player and some small testing in multiplayer, both with a dedicated server, and with shared worlds, both with the mod on the host and the mod on the other player. I know I have not tested every possible situation but hopefully its at least 90% better.
    • adding an option for a zoom effect while aiming in the config file. there are 3 settings that control this, an on/off, speed of the zoom, and the fov of the zoom. This setting is set off by default. (just realized it still lets you zoom even if out of arrows, I'll fix this.)
    • fixed console error spam while also using the "pause" mod and pausing.
    • a couple other small fixes and clean up.

    0.0.8 Added bow aiming.
The config file has changed, it should be fine but might look messy now (could not figure out a quick and easy way to remove garbage left
after renaming some stuff), you can always delete it to get a new copy.

    HOTFIXES:
    0.0.8a

    • Fixed the aiming effecting anything else but bows. Fixes the stutter with the hammer.
    • Moved the level up notification to be visible. I can make this configurable if anyone doesn't like it.
    0.0.8b

    • smoother aiming.
    • hopefully fixed aiming in multiplayer, if anyone had this issue please let me know if its fixed (it may have also only been on dedicated servers)
    0.0.8c
    • option to remove vertical head bob (called smooth camera in options) there is a little extra clipping in a couple animations, but
      overall it feels pretty good.
    • helm fixes (I think i got all but maybe a few edge cases worked out)
    • hair fixes (side swipe and maybe others)
    • option to move skill level up effect to top center of screen (another version
of this was previously forced on, now its defaulted off but its also a little better so might give it a try)
    • option to make yourself 6% taller in first person, any taller and you start to get stuck on stuff,
in case you feel too tiny, this helps a little bit

    0.0.7 Notes
I've never been so happy to see a birch tree up close.

    • Everything culling (disappearing) in a circle around you has been fixed.
this change effects third person as well. In third person it was only noticeable if you could get the camera to get close to the trees but it was there. If anyone finds issues with this I can refine it to target specific objects and/or switch back when you switch back to 3rd person.

    HOTFIXES:

    • 0.0.7a:   Fixed the bug I recently added in where the body stopped turning with the head, at the same time fixed stuttering while strafing. I think overall the walking animation is much smoother now. CURRENT UPDATE IS BROKEN UPLOADING FIX ASAP   Should be good now.

    • 0.0.7aa:   In testing I had it so i could turn the fix on or off and then forgot to take out the check after i deleted that part of the config. So while it worked for me I think it would of been broken for everyone else. This is now fixed, I hope.

    • 0.0.7ab:  Fixed getting stuck facing one direction if you zoomed out to 3rd person while moving.

    • 0.0.7ac: I apologize in the last build or so I cleaned up the helm logic and ended up having a typo that actually completely broke it. This has been fixed. Also added the config line for the [Nexus Update Check mod] as requested.

Please let me know of any issues or suggestions. I've started trying to use the "Bugs" section more, so please check there to see if your
    issue has already been reported.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
I wanted to say thank you to everyone for the kind words, it really means a lot to me, besides some basic UI mods this is the first real unity mod I've tackled. I know the basic flow of unity but a lot I'm having to figure out as I go and its been a blast.

I want to make this mod feel and play as good and as natural to the base game as possible.

I love this mod, and would love an update, or at least post explaining if this mod is abandoned, so someone else might take over if permission is given.
Thanks for all your hard work, Kailen, and supporters.

For those who want to use First Person mod with the current version of the game do the following:
    1) Install version v0.0.7ab of this mod
    2) Install https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/2217?tab=description

v0.0.7ab doesn't have the helmet fix so you will need this helmet disabler mod to prevent helmets from showing over your screen in first person. This version is the latest version of the mod that doesn't break the game. Any other problems that come from this version of the mod, you will have to deal with or work around them.

I also had to go with this solution. I tried version f and didn't think to go back one more... Good that the HelmetBeGone mod complements this fix.
Didn't even have to hit the H hotkey to hide the helmet!

Not working. Install this the plugins, install the helmet begun, and not work with last update.
This show the console and not loading the game:

It gives an error, but it still works in game. Just use scroll wheel to zoom in all the way and there you go. I've got it working no problem.

Yes, please do update this Mod. It's so elegant to just "scroll" into first person mode without another Hotkey to be defined. I love it!

The mod you've linked works differently from the one on this page. Beards are clipping and the upper body is not visible. Even after fiddling with settings in the config files I can't for the life of me find an option that works close to as well as this mod does(/did).

Dev pls fix this mod! <3

You're a saint. Thank you literally so much. I don't know the first thing about programming, but I was really frustrated because this is such a simple QOL type mod, yet seemingly nobody was able to (or cared enough to) fix it until you did, and it seems like there are many other people like myself who really just use this one mod and are unable to play the game now that it broke after so long.

Thanks for getting the scrolling feature down; that was a big deal for me. Would it be possible to also make an option where you can scroll out even further as well? Sometimes I really just want to zoom out almost like I'm playing a top-down game.

What can I do to make this mod post get seen by more people in my situation?

Also, just to clarify; this mod does not work with vortex, right?

I didn't make the FirstPersonMode mod, it was made by Azumatt. The best way to make requests or suggestions would be to join Azumatt's Discord.

It's been ages since I used Vortex, but I believe this will work for installing mods from other sources than Nexus. Manually Downloading Mods

There is an option in the config to disable head which removes clipping issues similar to this mod.

Thanks for your response, dowloaded FirstPersonMode and it works perfectly. Only issues i've had is the fov sliders aren't working properly but I think it might have something to do with another mod taking precedent.

World is gone, all sorts of errors popping up in the dev commands window. The recompiled version works, and it works so well, I cant imagine playing without this, its so much more immersive now. Especially fishing in first person.

Mod can be fixed by users  being able to use DnSpy(from Github) and looking for ".IsSwimming" in the "Late update" class (just search for it) where it can be removed as a method and the mod will resume function, though swimming will make your body go below your head, i probably wouldnt want to have the game be in first person while swimming anyway.

Good evening. Complete noob with DnSpy and the technical jargon that follows using it. I manged to navigate to the "UpdatePlayer_PatchLateUpdate" and I additionally found "UpdatePlayer_PatchLateLateUpdate" and while browsing both of these classes I couldn't find anything in relation to ".IsSwimming". Might you have any advice to locate this specific line? Thank you!

I absolutely love this mod, thank you for making and sharing it! I have one request though: Could we get an option to disable switching to first person mode with the scroll wheel, so I need to press my keybinding to switch? I'd like to only switch between third person and first person mode in specific moments, like when I want to enjoy a view, on a boat or when I'm building something. During normal gameplay I like to quickly scroll/zoom in and out in third person mode to adjust to the situation. When I have this mod enabled, It will unintentionally go to first person mode all the time. The only way I can work around this issue so far, is by disabling the mod entirely and only enabling the mod when I need it, but that's kind of a hassle.

Mod is broken as of July 2023. When login, camera is at a random place very far away from the character and won't move. Have to log out and uninstall mod to restore camera to character.
