I'm kind of new to modding, and I mostly rely on Vortex, so I'm having a little trouble getting the mod to work. You said to put the textures in the custom textures folder, and the meshes in the custom meshes folder, except when I manually download it, it's only one file and I don't know how to access it because I lack the required app to do so due to the format in which it is in, atleast I think. could somebody help me out a little?
Even it is a late reply i hope it can help you. The file you are downloading is compression file like zip, rar, 7z, etc. To open it I used 7-Zip; from there you can then drag and drop the files to the in to the BepInEx folder. Of course pay attention to which files you copy to. You have CustomMeshes and CustomTextures. Usally it is kinda simply copy paste, but if you want to be sure: the 3 png needs to be in the CustomTextures folder and the SwordSilver folder needs to be in the CustomMeshes folder.
currently trying to reinstall this mod. I have gotten it to work in the past but cant recall how to do now. Am I supposed to leave it all as is? or do I need to change the names of some files because the Silver Sword just loads in as a plain default model sword with no textures at all
Hey there, after a long time now I wanted to play Valheim again and of course facing the same issue as some other people. I went through it and could get it working for me, so I like to share my steps:
Be sure to have the newest version of BepInEx
Also be sure that you have downloaded and installed the optional file for FBX from "Custom Meshes"-Mod
i tried my directories looked the same had no result same default sword and i deleted the mesh and vanilla skin and idk how to restore the vanilla texture
Greetings. Thank you for your work. I really like this sword!
I'm having an issue with the texture, however. It's definitely a problem on my end, nothing with the mod. I'm just hoping someone can help me troubleshoot it. The mesh for the new sword loads, but the texture does not. The weapon just looks completely chrome-colored, no texture on the hilt. However, at the far end of the blade it looks as if a small version of the texture is imposed upon it (you can kind of make out a hilt in the middle of the blade). I have other environmental textures and they work just fine. But I also downloaded armor textures, and they aren't loading either. So, it's hit and miss.
Almost all of the textures are loose files in the CustomTextures folder within BepInEx/Plugins, except for the armor textures, which are in their own respective folders within CustomTextures (they don't work though). Clearly I have some pathing issues or a conflict, but I can't figure out what the problem is. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Update: Nevermind. I just needed to update the Custom Textures mod. Love this sword. Thanks again!
hello, i am having the same problem you were. All mods are up to date so i assume its a pathing issues of some sort. would you be able to respond with an image of how you formatted your mods to work?
When I try to put this over the Blackmetal Sword, it ends up looking cartoonishly big. It also still retains the green/black texture but I dunno how to work around that.
I'm running into the same issue. Can't seem to find a solution. Now, I realize you never dedicated this mod to the black metal sword, golfwhiskey, but if you find a solution do let us know!
wait, really? that's odd, my armor does not have that sweet chainmail shirt under the plate vest. it all just looks like the vest piece on yours. sorry for the late reply. i was never notified of the response.
Ok. Call it what it is. It's a cooler looking sword (to you). Yes, it looks more imposing. But it is not "more realistic" and I suggest you remove that from your description. The silver sword in vanilla looks EXACTLY like a late Viking Age/Early norman arming sword with a brazil-nut shape pommel. I'm a historian and I study the Viking Age.
Irongate, being Swedish, actually did their research. The bronze sword looks like a sword from the Nordic Bronze Age. The iron sword looks like an early Viking Age lobed pommel style sword. The silver sword looks late Viking/Early Norman. The sword in-game IS REALISTIC except for being made of silver.

What you have here is a longsword from the late 15th or early 16th century, a full 6-700 years later. It would be like putting an assault rifle in a medieval game and calling it realistic. Again, Irongate actually did their research and calling this realistic is doing them and this great game a disservice and spreading misinformation.
I actually LIKE the look of this sword. And this is a good mod. But it isn't "realistic."
And you realize your entire post is redundant as Silver wasnt primarily a metal used in practical weaponry..... Henceforth, your claim of their silver sword being accurate is incorrect..... Historian... More like butthurt that you cant make something as primal, as beautiful, and as magnificent as this sword here. You sir need to go back to the books, and stay off the internet.
As Alisath said. You also appear to have skipped grammar classes in favor of history classes in school, as nowhere did MA state that this sword is realistic historically. The description quite literally says, and I quote:
realistic looking
In other words, it's not unrealistic, like a fantasy sword, which you yourself acknowledged.
Additionally, Valheim itself isn't exactly the history book of games either. Besides some weapons and probably a bunch of other things I'm not aware of, historical accuracy doesn't really slap you in the face at every turn. Even with not much knowledge in viking history, I somehow doubt Odin, the big ass world tree in the sky Yggdrasil, necks, walking skeletons, draugar, an overgrown stag Eikþyrnir, icicle shooting drakes, or big living stone golems (among a plethora of other entities I could go on and on listing here) ever existed in our reality.
I just want to point out that you're making this argument about a game where we play as a viking revenant in fantasy viking afterlife where we fight supernatural monsters and trees grow to full-size in a matter of days.
Can you make a historically accurate Skywalker saber to go along with a historically accurate storm trooper outfit (from Episode IV – A New Hope)? I need my viking to reach mAxImUm rEaLiSm. <3

Requiered mods are:
"Custom Textures" and "Custom Meshes"

It's a shame too because the black metal weapon meshes are terrible.

Gonna leave this here for you, Ana.
