I was using an older version to the unofficial patch and decided to update to the latest (11.4). In the version previous Jack had the unique eyes, Strauss had the green glow, Gary and other Nos had the really cool and weird eyes but since updating and installing the NPC, Player, and Eye texture mods to the unofficial patch folder (overwriting where asked) no one seems to have those cool eyes anymore. I've reinstalled the patch, reinstalled the textures multiple times and I can't seem to figure out why the eyes aren't working. I really dig the Nos eyes and Strauss' glowing eyes but I have no idea how to get them to show up again. I don't know why I am doing differently than I would have in a previous install.
Opening up the VMT files, Strauss (presuming that is 'regent') simply points to eyes/hazel, I have no clue what the glowing green it SHOULD be pointing to is or why it isn't pointing there already? Jack's eyes point to, well, eyes/jack (which makes sense but I am guessing these are not the 'ghost eyes' he had last I played). Bertram has fairly normal eyes (not the milky red sort of look they were? VMT points to vamp_eye_static_stain) and I'm not sure if there was just an update or something isn't overwriting correctly?. Looking in the .rars for NPCs they have the same references for the irises as what is in the unofficial patch folder. For reference, the last time I installed the textures+eyes was when the NPC textures we one singular file rather than being split by hub? Several others seem to be fine, however. Becket has the more subdued glow in his eyes, Nines has that reddish tint around the edges. Jeanette very clearly is not using default/original eyes.
Ah, damn. You're right, a lot of .VMTs got overwritten. I think i'll release a patch for the latest version... tomorrow. Today I'm recovering from a hangover.
I don't suppose there's an easy way to see what eyes are which, is there? I could point the particularly notable ones where I wanted if I knew what they were. Other than the obvious.
Don't use Vortex, it doesn't work with this game. Just open the "Eye mod.rar" and extract the "Materials" folder into your games "Unofficial_Patch" folder.
Hey I really appreciate all the hard work on this mod it looks great!
Just a quick question - I noticed that smiling Jacks eyes don't look like the ones in the pictures posted here (i.e he still has irises in my game). Is that because I need to install the NPC's improved mod as well? I noticed it is temporarily hidden so I can't verify it just yet so I figured I would ask here.
EDIT: I've looked at some of the other posts on this mod, and I saw that the npc eye textures seem to be stored in Unofficial_Patch\materials\models\character\npc\unique\ however the file that's posted right now only seems to contain the \materials\models\character\eyes\ directory. Have the npc files been moved to another mod by chance?
Jack's eyes seemed broken, even though the Court Room scene everyone else eyes seemed great. Check Jack Materials/Models/Character/Npc/Unique/Smiling_Jack His eyes are shown as, "Ghost_eyes" .
Could you tell me is that a Lore thing? Not sure I will ever get used to it. Thanks.
Edit: I ended up changing Smiling_Jack's eyeball_l and eyeball_r , from Ghost Eyes to Hazel Green, which look great.
Yeah, I made it that way to look more like the old comic-style art of Jack. I would have suggested deleting the eyeball.vtm files anyway XD It's the simplest fix
Wait, did you mean deleting the eyeball 'vmt' files or is there actually a eyeball 'vtm' ?
Edit: I see what you mean. vmt are the actual eye files you made. But if I delete then it would prevent any Ghost eyes, afaik. I'm thinking they might work for some enemies so I'll leave them, just not on Jack, Pisha and Gary. Thanks again for all the amazing work!
I'm still looking for a better eye for Gary, do you have a VampEye that's Glowy? I really love Jack and Strauss eyes because they sort of glow in dark areas. Oh wait, Gorgeous Gary Golden, do you have some sort of glowy golden eyes, possibly a variation on Hazel? That would be pretty damn cool!
If not do you have a glowy Blue eye or Green too? I love your Models and Eyes, and think Pisha is great but I use different Pisha. I know she should be bloody but here she is Clean with Blue Eyes, but glowy would be better? She knew the player was coming by so she showered, yeah that's it! https://imgur.com/a/QrTjbS6
And if you want to make Pisha's eyes glow in the dark, just add the "$vampire" 1 specification to her eyeball.vmt files, just underneath the $iris line.
Hiya, I'm not sure if its linked to this but I have missing textures on the eyes of some of the vampires. I get like a purple and white checkered texture instead of eyes. Any advice would be appreciated.

"Eyes"
{
"$basetexture" "models/character/eyes/eyeball_yellow"
"$iris" "models/character/eyes/vamp_eye_static_stain"
"$vampire" 1
}

Place the contents of the Eye mod .rar into the Unofficial_patch folder, and overwrite.
Thank you kindly.
