Firstly sorry for the general radio silence, life has been horribly busy with work and juggling other responsibilities taking away time and motivation to work on updates and answer questions here.
Secondly I've released a new update for the mod! It's nothing massive but it does incorporate all the bug fixes I or others have posted on here for various SCAR issues in campaign missions as well as some balancing changes. I was planning to release a big update with things like fog adjustments but due to the aforementioned busyness of life the last year and a half progress has been pretty slow, and rather than just leave you with nothing I'd rather give you something.
Speaking of the fog adjustments, they're in progress but they take time. There's over 300 or so maps in the mod that all need to be individually checked, then tweaked, to increase the visibility when zooming out with the new camera and I'm just a team of one guy. I'm also working on reducing the file size of the mod by trimming down the art and sound assets to remove anything lurking in there that's not being used, which is another long and tedious process for a single developer to do.
So to round this out with a question on a date for further updates: they'll happen when they happen. I may roll out more bugfix and balance style updates in the mean time but they'll also be on an as-and-when basis rather than something explicitly scheduled.
Is there any mod like this but for the first DoW? All I want is a good campaign and good models, additional races are welcome but I want to play campaigns rather than skirmish/multiplayer
You can play the original Dawn of War campaign in the skirmish mode of this mod, and I hope to get the Winter Assault campaign working in a similar fashion at some point in the future.
The Dark Eldar are mostly at the same balance they are in vanilla Soulstorm, at least in terms of weapon damage. Their main strength is access to vehicles in Tier 1, very good anti-infantry and a strong strategy from the AI.
Damage wise though, the early units for the Dark Eldar aren't as damaging as you'd expect. The Archon does half as much melee damage as a Chaos Lord for example, while the Archon's Incubi & Wyches do less damage than a tactical squad does in melee; Kabalite Warriors do half as much as that.
Beating them in early skirmishes requires some counter-tactics, namely having an answer to tie up the Archon in melee or to damage him enough he backs off. Typically your primary commander unit, such as a Force Commander or Chaos Lord, will be enough to stall him while a squad or two of ranged units shoot him or he's aided by a melee squad. As mentioned before you're likely to out-class the Dark Eldar's ranged units in melee, so the best answer to their anti-infantry fire is to get them in melee even if it's with a ranged unit like a tactical squad.
Besides that, turrets and upgraded listening posts work wonders, using them as a wall for your units to fall back behind (so the AI shoots the building instead) is extremely useful for factions like the Tau who don't have a strong melee option as a counter (unless you build Kroot first).
dude, I just wanna say that this is super cool mod and playing DC again with it is so good, right now am playing Chaos campaign and so much fun, don't know how did you add new races to the campaign but THANK YOU and I have one small visual bug to report but as it is not game braking I did not want to make bug report, it is typhus and it is missing textures, some part of him are pink but again, the best mod for DC and thank you for making it dude, I work on Soulstorm mod of mine and I know how hard and time consuming it is so well done dude

To fix the texture issue with Typhus, best case is to re-install the mod as it sounds like some of the texture files didn't copy over correctly. The quick-and-dirty way would be to just copy the folder (for 3.2.1) into the Dark Crusade folder and click yes for any overwrite/merge pop-ups. Otherwise remove the existing mod folders and re-install them from the zip files.
As for the new races, if you check out the video tab on this page I made a tutorial to access the new races in the campaign mode; it's janky but until I can figure out how to edit the selection screen it's the only way that works. They're still WIP but they're all playable.
thank you so much dude and am not bothered with Typhus, not like this is all pink it is just 2 small things on his armor and cape but thank you for giving a solution, and am sorry for not looking at video section of the mod, it was oversight on my part but I can say that it work and so cool but I have one question, is there any plan to add turrets to other races? it is small thing but I like building turrets, I have few other suggestions but it is your mod you do your thing so am not gonna go in to it but I do wanna ask if you are ok with me making a addon of sort for your mod, some icons change and maybe to add DOW2 wraithlord to eldar?
There's only the Tyranids without a dedicated turret building, the rest have something for the job:

thank you so much dude, I have made a addon and I have given full credit, it is not big thing just icon change and I add turrets that I wanted as some things I did not like like purification decree, for me it dose nothing worth having or WH flame turret that dose so small amount of damage that it is waste of resources and range was mah but it is your mod, you do what you think it is best I just did not like them, pleas don't take it the wrong way just I wanted something more also all icons are DoW2 that I made by hand for my mod that I wanted to update after so long but I never did
Mod feels very unfinished and fog just makes camera zoom useless, alot of icons and descriptions are missing so playing that mod is just not worth unless going for some blind pvp
There shouldn't be any missing descriptions or icons. It sounds like you've not installed the mod correctly. Double check you've got both the 3.2.1 and the 3.2.2 update folders in your Dark Crusade directory as well as their .module files.
If you're playing version 3.2.1 without the update in a language other than English then you'll need to make a copy of the English Locale folder in each of the aforementioned mod folders for you language, otherwise you'll see a bunch of broken strings. The 3.2.2 update fixes this however.
Just want to say thank you for this awesome campaign mod! So far i played as Witch Hunters - works very well - and encountered zero bugs or crashes in the campaign. The added units / factions / faction additions are well done and perfectly balanced in size and amount. File size is absolutely ok. Had bigger mods. Thanks again! Great work!
Hi FoxFire94, I downloaded your mod a couple of days ago, if you only knew how happy I was when I saw the new features, the Necrons were my favorite race and I was very impressed with what you added and how you implemented it. I've already captured 80% of the cronus, the Tau were defeated (they defended themselves fiercely, I even started sweating and shuddered when I saw the ARMY approaching my base) and so I decided that I could try to overcome the defense of the Chaos Space Marines, but the nearest province was under their control, so I immediately decided to attack it, it so happened that when I started to put the 6th generator, I crashed ... I was surprised and immediately blamed it on coincidence, launched the game again, also attacked the bordering province from the base, and I crashed again ... Not right away, after some time, from not understanding, I simply sent the Lord's guard (and him himself) to quickly break from the building, I succeeded in this, I thought: "Probably better not to attack Chaos yet ..." But then they began to attack the neighboring province, and what do you think happened?)) Crash. I started to ask myself the question: "WHY??? What is happening to CHAOS that it starts to crash for me???" So I saw that there was a patch that I hadn't installed, and I thought: "Here it is, my salvation!" But alas... Make sure you've got LAA enabled on the mod manager (the program that comes with the mod), it should say in green text "DarkCrusade.exe: LAA Active" if it is, otherwise press the "Toggle LAA" button to enable it. Along with that, check the video tab of the settings menu to see if "High Res Textures" is enabled, if it is then disable it as it can cause crashes when playing with races like Chaos (as they've lots of new assets that take up memory).

Doesn't help, LAA is on, and High Res Textures is off in the video settings in the mod manager. Eliphas crashed the game during his (TRIUMPHANT) appearance, and still does... Unfortunately I'm not really able to recreate those bugs myself as Eliphas works fine and I don't get crashes selecting units of stealth suits that are reduced to just drones.
Best thing to do is to reinstall the mod from scratch and to verify the integrity of your game files (if you're running a steam copy) which should restore anything that's missing and might be leading to crashes occurring.
Hullo! I have a question for the creator of the mod, and it's semi-urgent. I had almost completed the campaign on the normal mod, the first one. I saw there was an update, so I downloaded it, but it wants me to start a new campaign from the beginning, and I REALLY don't want to do that, and tbh, if I have to, I might just not play the game. Is there a way to fix that so I don't have to restart through ALL of my very hard-earned progress? I know that sounds rude, but using this absolutely incredible mod got me to over 125 hours on steam. I really just don't want to have to spend another some 150~ hours just to beat the campaign again, when nothing would probably really have changed.
If you want to copy your saves over from 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 go to the "Profiles" folder in your Dark Crusade folder, then "profile1". In there you should see a folder called "dow3g_3_2_1" (and another called "dow_3g_322_update") open "dow3g_3_2_1" and copy the folders within, then open "dow3g_3_2_1" and paste the folders in there. That should copy over your saves for both single and multiplayer, as well as your custom colour schemes.
Might be bugs if you've saved mid-mission but should work fine otherwise.
