Particles Capacity Multiplier affects every effect like smoke, particles, fire, explosions, blood, player effects etc. Using values lower than 1.0 is problematic. Requires a game restart to take effect but you can enter and exit the Psykhanium as well.
for my experience the changes that i made with this mod revert back to the default settings every time when i get into a loading screen. i believe so it did, obese shark is getting on my f*#@ing nerve
Okay i got an update : so what i figure out is i have to manually edit the changes from the user_settings.config, then when i finish applying it, i right click on the config and go to properties and set it to read only this will prevent the game to reverting to its default settings from the changes that i have made. this way can likely cause issue with "full screen" that's below 1920x1080 where the screen will only appear on you're top right or left corner of you're screen due to this 1.5.4 update being f*#@ing terrible. So my best solution for now is when you play this game on a lower resolution is to change you're desktop resolution to the same resolution you have set in darktide.
I hope this help in case someone else is experiencing the same problem as i am
Can you please add a screenshot with the lowest possible settings, i have my game lower then any of the screenshots provided above and i wanna know if its worth downloading this mod if i can get even more of an fps boost.
Are you going to update this mod? the new unlocked and loaded update has pretty much bricked this mod for whatever the reasons are. I just downloaded this mod today too without realizing it, got caught at the worst time possible.
Firstly, thank you for this great mod! Very helpful.
I do have a request: Would it be possible to add the setting "rt_mixed_reflections" (Ray-traced Mixed Reflections) to the settings page? The issue is that even when you set the Ray Tracing and Global Illumination settings to OFF, the game keeps this setting as TRUE. If you change this reflection setting to FALSE, the game will just change it back to TRUE automatically. I'm thinking that setting it in the game settings (or mod settings) will help prevent the game from reverting this setting. This has been the case for the "rtxgi_scale" setting using this mod. The game also used to revert that setting to a value of 0.5 when the Global Illumination was set to LOW. Now that your mod sets it to OFF, the game no longer automatically changes this value.
Thanks again for your contribution to the community!
For anyone interested, I was actually able to accomplish this very easily by editing the CustomPresets.lua file, adding a line below line 268 that also set "rt_mixed_reflections = false" when Global Illumination is set to OFF.
Particles Capacity Multiplier affects every effect like smoke, particles, fire, explosions, blood, player effects etc. I'm using 0.65. Requires a game restart to take effect but you can enter and exit the Psykhanium as well.
Use /particles_capacity_multiplier to change particles_capacity_multiplier. Accepted values 0.0 to 1. This affects every effect like smoke, particles, fire, explosions, blood, player effects etc. Using 0 will disable them completely but will probably make the game unplaybale. I'm using 0.65. Requires a game restart to take effect but you can enter and exit the Psykhanium as well.
1 is the vanilla value. Anything lower than that is going to affect whatever effect is affected by the Particles Capacity Multiplier. 0.65 seemed to be working fine for me and I could see explosions and fire, not sure what that effect is but there's a chance that even 0.65 is problematic.
Maybe that's how it works with 1 as well? First it explodes and then the fire spreads? There shouldn't be any "delay", just reduced effects so my guess is that maybe the reduced effects make it seem like there's a delay.
It's a visual delay where between the initial explosion and the fire spreading, there's no visuals and you can end up being caught unawares by invisible fire if you're not careful. Also, just a heads up, but the projectile that the trapper enemies shoot is also invisible when the setting is not at 1.
I have been looking at every mod I had, trying to figure out why this was happening to me. I thought it was a new difficulty setting for damnation lol been playing like this for months now
thank you for the mod. definitely help improve my fps!
I do have some question. settings that exists in both vanilla settings and mod settings like Global Illumination. if I turn one off, they are not syncing with each other. do I have to turn both page off?
You don't have to turn both off. The custom presets in the game's video settings are there for quick and easy usage. The settings in the mod's options are advanced options in case you want to customize the options yourself. Unfortunately I haven't figured out a way to sync the mod's options with the video settings, but I think I can make them default to your currently assigned video settings.
Although I know how to modify config files, this mod makes it easier and I really like it. I‘m wondering if this mod could add more framerate options? Such as 72,90,144, etc.
Why not just use RivaTuner? Can set your framerate cap to whatever you want globally or customize it for each game. Can also enable a performance stats overlay with msi afterburner.
It should be close to same, this mod might help you even more because you can change Texture Quality as well. I made this so that I can change my settings in-game. You can still use .ini modifications if you want for the settings that this mod doesn't affect (e.g. mesh quality). I'll add these later.
Edit: Just added commands! That mod is now obsolete and I will set it to hidden. Make sure to read the description!
OH I definitely didn't notice, thank you for this! Definitely helps in streamlining the entire process!
Edit: I can attest to this, Darktide runs much better on my potato compared to the original, I managed to get a Kill Order mission and I typically lag alot in the section before the Ascender. It was still laggy but it wasn't a slideshow anymore and it felt so much better.

Edit: Works fine for me. Have you tried deleting the settings file in appdata? (%APPDATA%\Fatshark\Darktide\user_settings.config)

Edit: forgot to add the comma before adding the new line. It works now.

EDIT: Tested every value, in 0.5 steps, lower then 1 - only 1 works for me. Fire hot :D

I wanna know if it's similar in features so I can see if both will provide a better boost in performance or this streamlines the process.

Again thank you!
