Thanks to overkill for providing a save file. I was able to consistently recreate the tavern board issue that he was having and went back to double check all of the edits between v1.4 (which his save file worked just fine with) and v1.5. (where I was able to consistently crash the tavern board).
It turned out that swapping places of two Fugitive items and some stats has caused this issue. After reverting the changes on those two items, I could not replicate the issue with the tavern board anymore and his save file worked fine with v1.5.1. Hopefully this will fix everyone's tavern board issues. If not, please let me know if you're still having issues.
I was not able to recreate some other issues that people are having (mission not completing, black screen in the battle, black screen in the tomb) but give v1.5.1 a try and let me know if your issues are still happening (who knows what else these two small changes could have affected) and I'll continue to investigate things.
It's a nice collection of changes, pretty handy, especially if it's not your first playthrough. Thanks for the mod.
One aspect though that may also bother some, is if we have all items upgradable some textures are going turn white (and its the case here as well). I'd be happy to change whatever I have to in the mod myself (something about flags if I remember correctly back from 2023). Otherwise, I wanted to ask whether you would consider a version with everything in it, but not the "upgrade all" function?
Yeah, changing the flag from 1 to 128 to make the items upgradable in some cases changes the texture version of that item as well, but I've only seen it on a handful of items.
Once the DLC drops with the new update and I get the mod going with that, I'll look into it. I have all the craftable armor in a separate file so a mass change like that wouldn't be much of a problem (the problem is keeping all the different versions updated once patches drop xD ). I'm also working on adding the Pit armor and weapons once the DLC drops as I was made aware that it's missing :)
Ah, you are right it's a big hassle just because of some textures, this tiny little thing is just overshadowed by the rest of the mod's quite useful functions, thanks for your reply and for letting us know the next steps mate! :)
Been enjoying the game so much with this mod. Thanks. also a question though, is it intended that some legendary armors have over 100+ armor stats? seems kinda OP compare to all the other armors
Probably not. I don't believe that some of the legendary items that are available with the mod were actually meant to be available to us. They probably have these crazy stats to make the bosses harder. All I really did is make a recipe for those items and make them show up in the anvil. It's a shame though because some of them look really cool and would be nice if they had different range of stats. Maybe something to look into in the future.
Hey zacko! Good news, that new update you did seems to not be affecting combats much as of now - I just finished Tiltren at level 5 and I haven't had any black screens happen! Only one thing I've noticed though when smithing - is the Helmets and Horse armor category tabs not showing up? I assume that's from you adding everything in. The helmets and armor are there, theres just no clickable category to take you to them faster.

Yeah I started fresh and everything is there except for the helmets. When I unlocked pony armor that tab was also just not there. Its not a huge issue at all, but it does feel weird slightly haha. Just got to level 8 in the playthrough and everything seems to be running smoothly still :)
Edit: Also - if you are still looking into making nodes and world resources spawn faster... I think Lazy Overhaul did it well? Its been a while since I had used it, but I think Smogg had something in place.
Just finished unlocking everything in the Blacksmith compendium - I just realized one shield is missing from the compendium. The Alazarian Heater Shield. Figured I'd let ya know for a future update later in the month or next, after the DLC dropped :)
I see why its not as noticeable. In fairness, and this is up to you - the resource replenishment that Lazy Overhaul did was 200% faster. Smogg has it listed in the description of the mod, all the changes that he made for his Overhaul haha. I also forgot that he changed the price of Rubies and Sapphires to be sold at 100g each.

I'll have an update later today in the Misc Files that will revert some of the Tavern changes that I made so we can test to see if that helps with all the Tavern issues that you guys have been reporting. It's also worth noting that there are bug reports on Wartales site about these issues as well, so it's possible that it's an issue with the vanilla game and/or this mod. I have yet to experience this on any of my saves.

Hi! Absolutely wonderful mod! Just started playing Wartales about 2 days ago, can't get enough of it! Now, is it okay if I can make a suggestion? This is just for personal preference mind you, I would like to suggest that throwing weapons have unlimited uses, and when crafting such weapons, it only yields to one item instead of four. The reason behind this is just I always get pissed when I forget to re-equip my boys their throwing weapons LMAO

Edit: Since I'm new to the game, I just discovered that the amount of uses a throwing weapon has, is equivalent to the amount of throwing weapons you have in your inventory, I thought that equipping a throwing weapon each has four uses, so 4x4=16. We can probably increase the amount of left hand items being crafted, but yeah, they count all your inventory. I rarely use left throwing items so I never messed around with that part...yet :)
will this work without DLCs? did anyone try? the DLCs are expensive and their reviews are bad, so I am not to keen on buying them ... or is it more likely to just need some specific DLC?
I agree, they are a bit pricy but I believe 2 of them add a bit to the game (I didn't even get to play them yet lol). You can try but I imagine it's either going to crash or run really buggy since there are quite a bit of DLC related things in the data.cdb file. However, if you send me the vanilla data.cdb file, I can transfer some of the changes over when I have some time (not everything would be possible of course) or you can do it yourself as well.
I posted a few guides on these comments and my data.cdb file is available for anyone to download if you want to move some stuff from that file to your vanilla data.cdb.
Unfortunately not! I have yet to make that work. I tried to add the code that was shared in Catch the boss mod but unfortunately, It did not work, it keeps breaking the battle screen.
Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't it be easier instead of capturing the Bosses to get their Buffs, to put these Buffs as initial Traits of the game and randomly available to the mercenaries we would hire in the taverns?
I don't know that it would be easier, but it may be possible as well. I'll look into that after finishing adding skills to all the classes at lvls 16-19, and of course, we'll see what the DLC adds as well.
Thanks for making the mod, been mostly enjoying it so far, though I think I have found some sort of odd UI hardlock bug.
I can play for potentially hours and then suddenly for no apparent reason I can no longer pull up the map or manually save my game other than forcing an autosave by walking in and out of town. I think it gets caused by me clicking on traders in the overworld map and then the dialog fails to load and locks me out of most other menus. I can pull up the main menu but the option to manual save is greyed out.
Once I have managed to autosave, I can resolve it for a while by loading that save.
Related, I also get an issue where when talking to an Emissary at the job board and pressing the "Review 🔎" dialogue option, the dialogue box goes away and the job board never loads, I'm stuck just sitting there staring at the emissary NPC and have to use Task Manager to terminate the game since I can't pull up the main menu at all when that happens.
This bug will persist through reloads without fail unless I either: run a verify via steam and then of course replace the mod files - or far simpler, I skip the verifying and just copy and paste the mod files into the steam folder again and it works flawlessly again for a time.
I suspect the mod is somehow corrupting if overwriting it with itself is fixing the issue.
Edit: to clarify the two files I am over writing are res.pak and export_en
Edit2: have also attempted clearing out nearly all installed game files other than the save folders and forcing Steam to re-download EVERYTHING. Follow by only using the res.pak file. Still getting the same bugs.
Additional thing/UI bug I am noticing is that jobs aren't clearing off the map - if I kill some bandits for a job the markers stay on the map. And the more that pile up, the faster the other bugs seem to re-occur. I think the first time I noticed it was after the job to kill Mattias Lund, his icon did not clear off map. Now I've got 4-5 additional kill jobs that did not clear off map despite getting turn in credit.

It's funny, but the first thing I tried when loading your save was to check the mission board and the bug happened lol I quit the game from the task manager and started it up again and it worked fine, I didn't have to verify or reapply the mod and it didn't happen again since.
I did notice that your save used a bit more memory than mine (even though I'm way further in the game), but you also have lots of companions (love your furry army!).
Like I told dragon too, I checked the forums, steam and bug reports, there's quite a few things still floating around, with black screens, tavern boards going crazy, crashes, stuttering, graphic issues, FPS drops and all kinds of co-op issues (that could potentially affect SP as well). It's possible that there's some kind of a memory leak and this mod maybe helps it get crazy faster. You can check that here https://wartales.featureupvote.com/ (only for bug reports atm).
I would maybe suggest trying the NO ARMOR version of this mod (available under Misc files) to see if that helps in any way. That's where the huge majority of the edits happen (all the recipes, stats, etc.), the rest is pretty much just increasing the numbers here and there. If there was a major issue in the code (if I made a mistake copy/pasting, not close a { or something like that, duplicate ID, it gives an error and crashes the game when starting) so that way I know I ****ed up and know where to fix it :)
Also, once the next patch drops, I'll make sure and double check everything that I move over to the new version just in case I may have left something funky in there, that's always a possibility but I would bet it's probably a combination of vanilla issues amplified by all the extra stuff from the mod.
I'll continue to look into it as I play the game every day (as much as I can).
Had started a new playthrough on 1.5 no armor version, no issues there, and updated to the 1.5.1 full feature version, have done multiple jobs in Tiltren and Vertruse - all the above issues I reported appear to not be happening now.

Hi. I really like your mod. But there was a problem. When I try to enter the ancient ruins, the screen just goes dark. And except for the exit menu, nothing works.
I've had a similar problem where I enter a fight and the screen stays black, and does exactly this - then eventually crashes. I usually just reload and avoid that fight... but its still something that should be mentioned.
Does it happen in the same ruins every time? Does reloading help? Which ruins is it so I can go take a look?

I have yet to experience that but I don't mind looking into it. Have you guys tried to do file verification with Steam (if using steam), and see if something is not validating other than the res.pak file?

It tends to happen when loading into a fight where there are usually a lot of characters loading in, like Mole Rats or Tomb battles or just exploring like Metallikano has happened to him. I also have it happen during story battles where the game runs very slowly and goes to a black screen. It can also occur with Contract fights, like Deserters, Outlaws - or Assassination fights. If I don't exit out of the fight before entering, and save - my whole file will be borked... and I load into a void with music playing in the background.
Its not my PC specs either I've checked. Just to give you the specs - I have a very advanced rig with a 4070 ti, 32 gbs of DDR5 ram, and a 14 series Intel processor. And I checked to see if I ran into this issue with other mods, but this is the only one where I crash.
I only ever had that happen when I was messing with the "capture everyone" stuff like the Capture the Boss code, but it would break every fight that I would initiate (stuck on black screen with UI but no battle map or units). None of that is in the mod, however, it does add A LOT of code for the anvil/compendium, recipes, I wonder if that adds up and starts causing issues, like overkill is having as well. Got it, and it could be an overload from the anvil. If it helps you, Olto did something interesting with his mod - though I'm sure you'll have to ask him for permission. He made two separate camp items to split things up (albeit they have very weird systems in place, i.e using Influence and Gold to craft resource items, accessories, and others.) but its made more organized and seems to not cause any crashing issues from everything you can make. Though, his compendium also doesn't have all the armors, weapons, and items available haha.
That was one of the reasons why I wanted to put everything in the compendium and added the legendary category and make everything have to be learned first, so it hopefully causes less issues.

I may reach out and see if he's encountered any issues and how to go about it (I hate bothering people lol), but he does so much more in his mod and has so much more knowledge of the game itself, I definitely don't want to go that deep into it, at least not until we have proper modding tools (if that ever happens) and are able to use more than 1 mod. I still want to keep it a more or less a simple QoL mod with armors and weapons, with some simple additions (like the horseshoe).
This happens in the first ruins. I reinstalled the mod, but nothing happened. Rebooting doesn't help either. Forgot to say. I play with a mod without legendaries.
Hm, I haven't done any adjustments to the ancient ruins. This may be a dumb question, but, do you see your UI, are you able to take a rest or open the menu, save the game? Do you have torches in the inventory? Once you get inside, if you do not have torches, you won't be able to light up the area where your mouse is and you can't progress to other rooms. If you're able to, post a screenshot.
