   i edited the file and put the pheromone under the incredible lockhart merchant. i reloaded the game and managed to buy it from him instead, the game did not crash. i hope it works for you guys.

   Thanks for this - had to jump back a save or two, but not that big an issue. Can't believe making a potion can wipe the pheromones from your inventory ">

   I followed "cradchaw's" helpful post to work around the game crashing when buying the pheromone. I didn't use the "xml editor" though. I simply opened the file in "notepad".
   Same result! No crash!

   What i did was while editing the xml. I cut the line from Bras list and when I pasted it into Lockhart's I changed the max to "1" with the idea in my head that there would be only one in his inventory and when i bought it and transferred it to mine, then the game would recognize his inventory properly upon exiting his merchant page that he didn't or never had the item. Not sure if that was correct reasoning and fixed it or if it was just random luck that it worked...Previous to doing this it would crash upon exiting either Bras or lockharts item page.After I changed that number it went off without a hitch.

   worked BEAUTIFULLY for me. After about 40 attempts at making it work with Bras, I saw this post and now I have the sword and my frustration is gone "> kudos sir.
