Earth rune has no combat vigor regeneration, what code should I add?

I'm not sure because I also used other mods, and there may be conflicts in some places

I curse this mod because I can't find Aether anywhere, which is very essential for the quest progress, this really waste hours of my time just to find it with no avail, sorry I know you probably didn't mean it to cause such problems, but this mod need an update, at least about aether problem

      See change #3.
Aether removed on ingredients. Fully. Go to inn and buy pontar moonshine, as it contains aether.

So none of the merchants has any of the new items. There's no moonshine at the inn, Cedric has no saltpetre, Mysterious Merchant has no respec potion. Can't really progress without these things. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Check if any other mods change merchant data files. Maybe there's a conflict.

This mod is fantastic, and you've done a really great job!! Well done and thank so much for this!! But I came across an issue with the alteration of recipes, such as in training you can't progress since there's no Aether to be found so you can't craft swallow, and then again in Flotsam you need to craft Grapeshots to destroy the nests of nekkers but there's an abundance of fulgur to do so. Now It's a little thing and I won't unistall the mod for this, nor does this overshadow your great work, but I thought I should bring it to your attention!!

I've never checked for training mode - so i guess it makes it incompatible with it.

As for fulgur -- where is it? Fulgur should only be available in Flotsam in form of saltpeter (sold by Cedric) and Ostmurk plant (quest item i didn't touch).

I installed this and started playing the tutorial and after like 5 minutes of being completely lost I realized I can't brew a healing potion with the 4 basic plants the tutorial gives me because this mod probably changes recipes or ingredients.. soo I can't progress through the tutorial and I didn't back up the original files.. welp I guess that's that

Yes, this mod changes recipes and ingredients, it says so in readme.

And yes it breaks tutorial as I haven't played it for ages and forgot about it when developing this mod.

Sorry to bother you again. You were right about fulgur of course, but something else came to my attention and I don't know if it was mean to be this way or not. I'm in act 2 and everytime I made a specter oil the game made me a Lapwing potion instead and I noticed that the two had the same formula, so i changed it, from def_item_recipes.xml (2 rebis 1 Aether 1 Caelum instead of 1 Rebis 1 Hydragenum 1 Aether 1 Caelum). I didn't know if it was intentional or not because a merchant in kaedweni camp sells specter oils. It's a very small thing but I thought I should tell you!! Let me say agaain that you've done an excellent job and thank you very much for it!! I know I wouldn't enjoy the game this much if it wasn't for your mod!!

Hi Haldar, any chance of getting an update to fix the Lapwing/Specter Oil recipe overlap? Going thru Act II and III is extremely painful w/o Specter Oil :(

Maybe I had forgotten how easy the vanilla game is, even on Dark, maybe it's just muscle memory after having finished a play-through recently - but the dire result is: There is no challenge. At all.

The Kayran encounter took about the time that the animations needed to play through, which was so unexpected that I tried again - with the same result. On a third run, I let the Kayran hit me and was reminded how ridiculously strong QUEN is outside of FCR.

Letho was equally disappointing; there wasn't even any need to resort to the "Aard-Quick-Hard-Hard"-routine that is quite valuable on FCR and pretty much essential when you give Letho combat rejuvenation - an attribute that is hard to balance correctly, and that, occasionally, leads to Wolverine-like enemies but it's also one of the few measures that add any reason to go beyond hack-and-slash in Witcher 2.

Regardless, your changes make a lot of sense, so kudos to you, but the plethora of talent points at the start are, at best, a mixed blessing. So far, I haven't encountered any bugs, which is great, I'm just not sure, I'll go much further.

Story-wise, it makes sense that Geralt is on top of his game after the events of Witcher 1. It's just not very interesting for long to play a demigod.

Let's say...I was able to beat dark mode in Ironman difficulty only on 10th or so try. I died to nekkers, to swarm of harpies in its nest, to gargoyles, to Operator, to scripted shot when found in Henselt's camp, etc etc.

There is challenge, you're just prepared for it. It is possible to not get hit due to mobility and game knowledge. And it is possible to be torn to shreds in a pair of seconds. And I didn't touch monsters and enemies at all, they are same as in vanilla Dark mode. Items are 20-25% weaker, abilities are a little bit stronger, money goes up and down, extra talents are a nod to narrative -- 6 to cover training tree and 3 more to point that Geralt has something from W1, not just basic Signs and sword moves. In a sense, I think I've made game harder - and, in any case, better overall.

I agree there is challenge, you can't rely on hack and slash all the time if you wanna stay alive for long. Even against dark mode nekkers at lvl 13 (where they stop giving experience) I have to cast Quen before attack and rely alot on dodging and I have Blasphemer's armor fullset (but haven't managed to touch mutagens/armor enhancement/runes yet)

This mod has pretty good balance imho but this is coming from someone who's played W1 2 times and is just starting out on W2. YMMV. Anyway thanks to Haldar for creating the mod.

I've just finished replaying TW1, about to start a new TW2 game and your mod might be what I was looking for in order to spice things up a bit. I won't install everything though. Thanks, and I'll let you know how the test goes.
    EDIT
Ok, given the description I was under the impression your mod was composed of the various XML files and gave the chance to choose what to install and what to disregard. But it seems I was wrong, which complicates things

My issue is that I want to try out dark mode difficulty, but I know it requires you to spend a lot of orens and I hate grinding. So I've been looking for a mod which gives me a chance to earn money more easily. As far as I can tell, yours is the only updated mod which actually does that, but there's also a lot more to it. I guess I'll have to "relent" and accept the changes you apply, at least for this one playthrough.

The z_emc_data.dzip contains those xml-files, they are just packed. Unpack the dzip with Gibbed's RED Tools to examine them.

And if you want to directly compare the contents of the new files to the original ones, unpack "pack0.dzip" situated in the folder "CookedPC" within your witcher-installation, too. Move the unpacked folders into some other place outside of your witcher-installation, and then use a tool that compares texts in files to spot the differences without problem.

Imho, coin balance is done okay, I like it. You can get orens fast, you can lose them fast -- on schematics for dark armor and combined mutagens. It is possible to get dark armor in all acts w/o much hassle, and anyway it is perfectly normal to play through Act I with only imported gear as it is very good already and will become better with installed runes.

They are, I already looked .. and don't intend to change anything since, as I learned the hard way, balance is a fickle thing.

Though, come to think of it, my "pack0.dzip" is not the original one anymore since I edited entries to ensure that some of the intrinsic story abilities that were possibly mistakenly not activating (like Half-Pirouette) would do so.

Could this be a problem? I think you edited "Battle Seasoned" which is one of the abilities that usually can't be obtained, so .. well I guess, I have to take a look.

I think, I used EMC once, so I'm not familiar with it. I used FCR a couple of times but edited it to make it .. darker.

Anyway, there is no problem with Battle Seasoned (as far as I can tell). The Vigor-regen of the original ability was too high (plenty of discussions about that when the ability was activated for the first time ingame), so I had already edited the entry to avoid that. I like to add those abilities, I just don't want them to turn into a Demigod-mode.

Exactly what I meant: your mod solves the money issue, which is something I wanted. However (for example) it also practically doubles the number of points I can spend in my skill tree and lowers sword damage, which is not something I wanted. But, oh well

I've tried to move focus from raw item power to abilities. Item power is lower -- but you can increase it with mutagens, potions and so on. With all-melee setup you can oneshot Operator. With all-defense -- dragon's attack will be like mosquito bites. With all-magic you can defeat said dragon in 5-6 Igni casts.

About skillpoints - it was easy. It's a new game, so a new development tree is needed -- but Geralt is a "legendary witcher', and only a month has passed (as opening sequence says) so it's not like he has forgotten everything. So -- training tree goes down the drain, hence 6 pts award, and 3 more to represent all that "legendness".

get the "compare" plugin for Notepad ++. since you`re opening 2 files with the same name, rename one of them. open both files, then compare. i have been able to combine a lot of mods with this method. eg talent points per level.

Hello, I really enjoyed FCR Hard Overhauled, and am going to try this out next. Would you mind sharing your list of other mods you had installed when playtesting this (if any?). You did that in response to a comment on FCR Hard Overhauled for TW1 and that was very helpful. Compatibility is difficult for these games since they lack a viable mod manager.
