Yes and No.No, because Mod Merger does essentially the same: It merges many mods (bundles) into one (bundle). So, if you are are a really diligent mod merger and have already "reduced" the number of mods by merging, and the game loads, you won't need this in addition. Yes, you do need it regardless, because not all mods can be merged with Mod Merger and you can quite easily end up with a lot of unmerged mods even with using Mod Merger.
"What if something goes wrong? I'm scared messing with the "real" DLC."
This is why I wrote in big fat yellow letters to make a backup of your "real" DLC before installing this "mod". If for whatever reason you messed up the merged DLC, you can always delete your DLC directory and re-instate your backup.
"Help, all my DLC are missing and I cannot load my lvl130 NGP+++ all DLC savefile. 0/10 Mod pls fix. I'm redownloading the game."
Please don't redownload your game. If you have the DLC installed and they don't show up in the main menu and it tells you that the DLC are missing, then you have an empty folder inside your DLC directory *somewhere*. Find the empty folder and delete it.
"Would it be possible to do this for the other DLC as well?"
We decided against this, because Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone are not free DLC. Also, at best this would give you space for maybe one or two more mods - a result you can achieve way better with using Mod Merger.
I'm Playing on GOG 1.32. I followed the manual install instructions, and then the game refused to launch from GOG or from exe. It doesn't work with either version 1.1 or 1.0. I reverted the changes with the backup folder, and things worked out fine. I'd appreciate any help on this.
Would this mod fix issues with compatibility? When looking through the comments of the Ciri alternate appearance mod, which cannot be merged and therefore conflicts with my ashen hair ciri mod, somebody mentioned that it didn't matter that the mod couldn't be merged thanks to this mod. Any clarification would be great, and thanks for the mod
So I did the Semi-Auto installation like you said and well when I start a new game I can't select both the HoS and BaW expansions as new game. And also the title screen shows both Expansions as Available. Before it was shown Installed. Or mabe nothing at all but just the Expansion names. Is this okay? How to start the Expansions as a fresh start?
Should I reinstall? This is how the DLC files look: https://imgur.com/gtDqTsW https://imgur.com/kt6VO96 https://imgur.com/YUUmQ48 https://imgur.com/aChWMxy Any entries to type into user.settings? Or maybe it's the Unification PAtch?
Would you be so kind to give me your DLC 1-16 foldersif it's 1.31 GOTY?
looks all good. the only thing I see is the vortex file and the DLC folder inside your dlc folder - that is a common problem with vortex and NMM, they do not work with Witcher 3...
Delete the DLC folder *inside* your dlc folder - in the last picture you sent! this is the problem with your setup. And in the future, be aware that vortex isn't optimised for the witcher 3 (nothing we modders can do about that sadly, complain to Nexus if you wish it fixed )
hope that helps! you have correctly installed my dlc merge, problem is with the empty folders inside your dlc folder.
For some reason, after using this, the "Ciri DLC3" mod isn't working ( https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2138 ). It only works when I didn't merged the DLC. Anyone has a fix?
- The mod doesn't change anything of the *content* of course: all the content of the DLC is still (and should!) be the same. - What is changed is the *form* of the DLC in a way: it repacks the 16 separate DLC into one big merged DLC - and so improving load times and the amount of additional mods you can instal.(*)
(*)The distinction between form and content (matter) is an old one and goes back at least until Aristotle's famous books Categories 1–5 and Physics i 7. For a good (but somewhat advanced) introduction see: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/form-matter/.
I know you stated you can't pinpoint the exact amount of additional mods this will allow, but you do mention it will "greatly increase" the mod cap in the description. If you were to estimate, are we talking as in around 5 additional mods, 10 additional mods, or even around 20?
Either way, I've recently had my first experiences with hitting the mod limit and I've got to say your mod worked like a charm! Absolutely fantastic mod and so easy to install. Thank you for you efforts to make this!
well, it's kinda hard to say :D I've talked about that in the description a bit. The mod limit seems to be different for everyone - but no-one has really done the maths I don't think.
I've merged 16 dlc into one. So at the very least it should allow for an additional 15 mods. (in theory) there is also a different counting (i.e. the mod limit is about .bundle files) - in this case you get even more mods out of it, because I have merged about 30-40 bundles into 2...
Thank you for this! I kept struggling to pinpoint the mod that was keeping my game from launching and it turns out I'd hit a supposed mod limit. This fixed it right up.

Since the mod limit has been fixed now, it is kinda superfluous.
Please carefully check all steps in the description here. You will not notice any difference when installed correctly.
