While we can sell readables for some coins, but who buy contract papers one can tear down from a notice board for free? It doesn't sound right to sell letters from closed friends and quest documents containing critical secrets to a random civilian merchant, either, as well as dropping them on the ground, because nobody can tell there will be no one to pick them up. It's also annoying to find a merchant who buy books and dump read books to them and click every book in your inventory view and select how much you want to sell for each click. If you don't manage them, they will take up inventary space and kill an OCD player who wants a clean inventary.
By the way, before making this mod, I always dump read readables to generic merchants who get destroyed and respawned every time I walk into that area, so I still sold them but by technical I banished them from my world, but that's immersion breaking because Geralt don't need to know how do generic merchants work.
All this mod does is to hide readable items you already read from inventary and shops. Although you will lose some coins by not being able to sell extra books, you may consider it a cost of better quality of life and it's definitely worth it. Note that by technical alchemy recipes and equipment diagrams are items and accumilate in your inventory, you just don't see them.
The Gwent book is made an exception, because you still need to read it. As well as some quest documents that you need to hand over to someone or insert into some points of interest.
