Hey there. Love the idea for this mod. Unfortunately doesn't seem compatible with Friendly Meditation. As soon I start fast forwarding time, the buffs get depleted at the same rate. No changes. Wish they were compatible :(
Hello Zowbaid, first of all, thank you for your mods, you’re a genius. I’ve tried the update to version 4.0.4 of this mod by 01DarkLord04, and I’m also using Friendly Meditation. I successfully merged the mod without any compilation issues, and it seems to work just as described. If I understood your comment correctly, you mentioned that there are no changes in potion duration when activating fast time advancement, but I haven’t encountered that issue. I’ve also tested fast travel functionality, the loading screen takes a bit longer than usual, but everything works as it should. I even traveled from Novigrad to White Orchard with Geralt completely clean-shaven, and when I arrived, he already had a beard. The mod idea is fantastic, just as you said. Maybe you should give it another chance.
That's crazy. How did you get that to work? Did you change any lines of code? Cuz by default, using FMed's time skip mechanic will immediately start using up time on the potion.
Hello Zowbaid, I apologize for not responding when I should have; I never received a notification for your reply. Regarding the mod, If I understood your response correctly, I think there’s confusion about what this mod does. I didn’t have to change anything for it to work. it seems that the description of what it does with potion effects and their duration during meditation is something that the “Friendly Meditation” mod already accomplishes. In other words, this mod doesn’t pause potion effects during meditation; instead, it prevents their effects from disappearing as soon as meditation begins, allowing them to last for the intended duration while meditating. I hope I was helpful.
I feel so stupid now. I guess I just understood from your explanation what this mod does. For some reason, when I read the description I thought this mod paused the effects from moving when meditating or fast travelling. After re-reading your comment and description again like 3 more times, I now understand that the effects used to just instantly disappear in vanilla when doing both those things. Now with the mod, or with Friendly Meditation, meditating causing those effects to pass in time instead of just disappearing instantly. I will definitely be reinstalling this mod because I would like the travelling effects as well. Thank you again for your comment.
Looking at various maps it seems to be about right. Kaer Morhen is in eastern Kaedwen, Novigrad in the southeast of Redenia and White Orchard just east of Vizima. Looking at the roads and all, seems like White Orchard would be an straight(er) road or a fast way comapred to going from Novigrad. Seems Vizima to Velen being 1 day is too short though. Maybe 2 is better. Just feels weird that geralt takes so long when you first get to Velen. His beard is fully grown again and it says it took a few weeks iirc?
Just headcanon that witchers are stronger, faster, and their beards, hair and fingernails/toenails grow more rapidly. They also need to eat and poop more often due to their increased metabolism. SOLVED. ("It's not a bug... it's a feature") ~________^
I would like to add to this that despite saying it takes two weeks, we might assume witchers have a very poor concept of the passage of time. Not only are they optimized to live in the moment (a la dogs), to which they owe their heightened combat reflexes and senses, but they live a long time (in White Orchard, Vesemir says Geralt is nearing a century). What's the difference between a couple days and a couple weeks when you live possibly hundreds of years (assuming survival long enough to die a natural death)? Of course, by my own logic, Vesemir would also have a poor concept of time, so maybe Geralt is in his 40s and ol' batty Vessy just rounds up because he really has no concept of the passage of time. They know to go to Kaer Morhen in the winter due simply to their immediate observations of the season. I think I have done well here to make a compelling argument for witcher lore. I would like to wrap this up by positing that all witchers have ADHD, which is also often associated with a poor grasp of time passage. Anyone who experiences Geralt's quest progressions would have to agree. *curtsies*
@Lufusol Timing is important in any fight, so don't say silly thing like "witchers have a very poor concept of the passage of time" because it's simply not true. They are also not dogs, not animals while many common folks or even educated ones thinks no more of them, you should read the books/play the games again but more carefully this time. You just totally underestimate and misunderstand the Witchers just like their foes, meh.
Good point HeyJoe, unfortunately not everyone bothers to read, some think they know The Witcher just because they played the third game only or what's worse, they assume things after having watched the awful, latest TV show.
