    Hey everyone who read the mod page and was confused by the smooth movement combatablity, smooth movement has been updated a lot since then I figured out that 6.5 worked well since it was the last version released before this mod was released.

    so keep that in mind if you have a lot of conflicts.

    I NEED SOME INFORMATION FROM YOU

    Hello everyone,

    some players are experiencing a minor bug that leads to Geralt briefly freezing occasionally during combat. I sadly cannot reproduce this issue, so I cannot really work on it. That's why I need to gather more information to find commonalities in the players reporting this issue. Maybe we'll find the reason this way.

    If you are affected by this issue, please provide the following information:
    1) Full list of mods you have installed
    2) What Mod Manager do you use?
    3) Version of Witcher 3 (Next-Gen, December 22 Hotfix?)
    4) Running dx11 or dx12 version?
    5) Running raytracing and/or DLSS?
    6) Playing with mouse+keyboard or controller?
    7) Post you BetterMovement settings. You can find them in the file user.settings or dx12user.settings (depending on your answer to 4), which you will find in your "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\The Witcher 3". You can post your whole user settings or just the relevant parts for BetterMovement like this:

    [BetterMovementStraight]
    TurnAdjustTimer=0.1
    SpeedMultiplier=8.5
    MaxTurnAngle=120

    [BetterMovementMisc]
    RealTime=false
    RunInCombatToggle=false
    VersionNr=1.21

    [BetterMovementQuick]
    QuickTurnWalkEnabled=true
    QuickTurnWalkThreshold=0.90
    QuickTurnWalkSpeedReduction=0.2

    [BetterMovementSharp]
    Directijavascript-event-stripped0.85
    SharpTurnDetectijavascript-event-stripped0.35
    Directijavascript-event-strippedfalse
    SharpTurnDetectijavascript-event-stripped0.85
    Directijavascript-event-stripped0.4
    SharpTurnDetection=true
    Directijavascript-event-stripped0.6

    [BetterMovementSpeed]
    WalkSpeedMultiplier=1.0
    SprintSpeedMultiplier=1
    SwimSpeedMultiplier=1

      I was having this issue and did some testing.

      witcher3modmanager with no other mods enabled.
      next-gen 4.00 on GOG
      DX12 with RT and DLSS
      M/KB

      I mirrored your config above for better movement.  No matter what I do with DX12 it will always lock geralt in place when combat starts and you have to roll or dodge / sprint out of it.  He will go back into a locked state pretty quickly after.

      When I run the game in DX11 I have no trouble at all and it works great.

      Thanks a lot, dstoos. That's very valuable information right there!! :-)

      If you're up for some further testing, the following test-cases would be very useful to me:
      1) Try it with controller if you own one
      2) Try disabling RT and DLSS under DX12

      Did a bit more testing and controller behaves the same way but it looks like it is when you toggle sprint in combat.  I was able to duplicate it at will when I toggle sprint with controller or kb/m.  If I set RunInCombatToggle to true it doesn't lock up.

      Unfortunately I have this too, and it's making combat basically unplayable. To sum the issue up, the combat Idle animation isn't playing, and it doesn't let you do any other action (sometimes?) until AN idle animation is playing. So a workaround is constantly blocking, which probably has it's own animation... it's a huge headache :/

      1) Full list of mods you have installed (all newest at the time of writing)
      BetterMovement
      Immersive Camera for Next Gen
      SmoothMovement
      Fast Travel from Anywhere

      2) What Mod Manager do you use?
      No mod manager, manually installed according to all mods' instructions.

      3) Version of Witcher 3 (Next-Gen, December 22 Hotfix?)
      Next-Gen newest (Epic Games on Windows 11)

      4) Running dx11 or dx12 version?
      dx11

      5) Running raytracing and/or DLSS?
      no

      6) Playing with mouse+keyboard or controller?
      Mouse & keyboard

      7) Post you BetterMovement settings.
      Happens with default settings, my user.settings (and mods.settings) file is empty.

    God it's like another game! Thanks.
    I had to copy the file in Mods\modBetterMovement\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc to the game directory\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc for it to work though.

      This is exactly what I had to do for it to work, modBetterMovement.xml has to also be in the directory where we added a line to the dx files. I wonder why this is not mentioned in the installation instructions after all this time, thank you!

      Do you mean you can interact, gained ability point, but no bonus effect ? or can't even gain ability point (not successful draw) like me.
      I think place of power bug is not related to this mod. and place of power bug is very common to me. even I have some bugfixes mods.
      can't find somemod to fix it tho
      but method I always try and sometimes works is to tap walk step by step until you can interact with the place of power. try again if didn't work
      hope that help

    Holy s#*!, I am late to the party with this mod, but damn it makes movement so much more responsive. Great work! 😍

    (Seems to work fine with Gervant First Person in 4.04 as well)

    NOTE: I use a controller.

    Based on personal testing, it seems that modifying Turn Speed Multiplier to any value beyond 4~4.50, as well as Maximum turn angle to any value beyond 45~53, which are both inside of the STRAIGHT category, will lead to awkward jerking movements when snap-turning 180°.

    Modifying Turn Adjustment Time in seconds to any value, as well as any other values from QUICK TURNS and SHARP TURNS don't seem to make a difference in the betterment or worsening of this "jerking". It will cause the speed difference on turns to feel awkward, but it is something negligeable compared to Geralt blatantly spasming around (the jerking).

    Unless the author ends up managing to address this, for anybody trying to get the smoothest possible config, I recommend using the "fast" preset on QUICK TURNS and SHARP TURNS, while leaving the values inside of STRAIGHT as 0.20, 4 and 45, respectively.

    It should go without saying that the option Real-Time Turning inside of MISCELLANEOUS will ignore all of this and I have no idea whether it may cause any other sort of issue or awkwardness. Important to notice that all of this was tested with the first value inside of the SPEED MULTIPLIERS category being 1.

    There are random jerks that still happen here and there while I play naturally, but I haven't figured out a way of reproducing them yet.

    Note that if you use the mod "Less Screams" and possibly any of the other two who do the same thing -- Stopping Geralt from pushing every NPC out of his way -- you might find yourself performing some weird quick turns after brushing against an NPC. Uncertain if that is due to Better Movement or not.
