Nice find! I did test this and can confirm that same thing with vanilla feline armor which has a hood and it is indeed red in reflections, so its not related to the hoods mod. Unfortunately it seems to be another problem unrelated to this, but I'll keep this in mind if I find anything.
Wow, so glad I found this, was really struggling to find any reference to this online and was thinking something in my mod list was messing up RT Reflections.
There is a comment saying it is likely to do with textures or something and dyeable armors are more affected which makes sense since the cloaks added by Hoods are also dyeable.
It's a shame because I really like RT reflections for water but the red glow gets pretty difficult to ignore after a while. At least it can be toggled off separately. Maybe there will be a fix one day!
The grandmaster wolf armor has this same problem, i noticed it while in a cut scene. could you look into fixing this to please? And maybe any other armors.
Wow thanks so much for this, I have been mostly affected by the blue water reflections and wasn't sure if it was mod-related or updated DLSS or just a vanilla bug in general. Going to give this a try!
Do you happen to know what the default ReflectionsRadianceMipLevel is? Or how setting it to 10 works vs setting it to 0 for example? I couldn't find it in my dx12settings.ini or other ini files. And couldn't find anything about the variable on Google so I'm not sure how to tell what it does!
Kind of unrelated but, do you also have purple/pink reflections or hues in certain windows, especially in Novigrad? I wonder if that is widespread and fixable with an ini tweak as well?
ReflectionsRadianceMipLevel appears to control how much detail is preserved in reflections. Vannila value is 4 but anything below 10 appears to cause blue hue on clothing. Increasing the value lowers the amount of detail preserved. To give you a comparison here are 4 screenshots with 4 different values:
Spoiler:
Show
ReflectionsRadianceMipLevel 4 (Vanilla)
ReflectionsRadianceMipLevel 7 Geralt is now bald and his face is not very recognizable but you can still make out the armor, room itself lost some detail walls no longer have visible patterns/cracks, floor is blurry
ReflectionsRadianceMipLevel 10 (Mod) Colors appear to have changed aswell but armor is still somewhat recognizable, room lost alot of detail the floor no longer has any patterns
ReflectionsRadianceMipLevel 9999 Parts like shoulderpads, spikes, belt appear to be same color now
For now this is the trade off but hopefully I can perhaps fix it with more time. You really have to zoom in on the reflections to really see it tbh, at least its not as jarring as the blue hue. Oh and if you can make a few screenshots of those purple/pink reflections I will look into it.
This trade of is quite big, did you tried to mix up values with ReflectionsAlphaTestMipLevel? I didn't saw this issue on my rig, maybe it's specific color/structure/material on armor related bug, you have it on all armors, or only on this one on screen?
I did try ReflectionsAlphaTestMipLevel but it did not seem to have any effect whatsoever, and you are correct about this problem only affecting some armors.
Cool, thanks for the response and comparisons! Unfortunate that the workaround is to lower reflection detail. When I noticed you had Griffin armor like me I was wondering if it was armor-specific. Seeing all the discussion now at least we know it's a texture issue with a few armors.
I thought maybe the purple/pink window bug might be widespread. Have you ever experienced it with RT on, especially in Novigrad city? There aren't many user reports that I know of, so maybe it's a rare bug.
I did some testing for the purple windows and can confirm this is is a widespread issue for sure. At first I though it might be related to RT Reflections but that is not the case at all. I did a Test Without RT and Screen space reflections off via ini configuration, yet the windows still had reflections, it seems CDPR had put fake reflections on the windows in novigrad to give you the illusion that they are reflective. The problem is that RTGI seems to conflict with this technique. You can take a look at a comparison I made
Spoiler:
Show
RT off SSR forced Off (Windows still reflective)
RT on RTR off
RT off Diffrent time of day
RT on Diffrent time of day
In conclusion, these reflections are not suppose to be visible at these times of the day like without RT but RTGI is exposing them. The only way I suppose this could be fixed if CDPR actually implements SSR/RT reflections on these windows.
I couldn't find how to report bugs to CDPR but I was able to send a ticket from the 'game crashing' support article. I wrote a little about both bugs and also linked this Posts tab, hopefully they get the ticket to the right place!
Absolutely agree. I didn't see the blue reflections on water but on all metal armor and weapons under most conditions. The blue crossbow was a total killer. This mod finally fixed these reflection issues, thank god. These issues seems to not happen to everyone though, this mod should be like one of the most endorsed and downloaded otherwise.
After further investigation it appears the bug is indeed related to specific armor textures, some armors don't have this bug at all while others like Griffin and Wolven set do. Armor of a thousand flowers Before and after Mod Grandmaster Wolven armor Before and after Mod
Even with the mod applied Wolven gloves are still blue. Raising radiance mip level is more of a band aid fix and I think the problem lies within the textures of these armors but I'm no expert on this matter.
To fix this issue is need to do list of armors effected, take a screenshot all of them from the front and back and contact with some armor modder for help with fixing it, by changing textures to smillar color or structure that are not effected from this issue. Ofc contact to CDPR support will be also good idea but I don't think so that they do something about it.
well then its either a material setting on how reflections are applied to detected values or the format of the texture/materials on the model are incorrect to be compatible with rt shaders, a load of work either way what the real shame is that modders and the community ends up fixing game bugs over the actual publisher just spending the money to let the devs fix it.
Hello my friend Mb you know what cause that? Glowing branches on harvestable bushes...RT shadows cause that, but on only sunrise or sundown. Like a some sort of purple glitch or part of model have glitchy alfablend?

Here's a couple Reddit posts with the purple/pink windows bug

Just asking don't wanna get to mods that interfere with each other
ReflectionsRadianceMipLevel=10.0000000
Ray bleach contains the exact same setting change (plus one other), so you don't need to use both
Just use let’s say a black dye on your GLOVES.
No more blue shadow yaaay!
