Description

Welcome to the modpage for the Gryphon Knight Armour DLC mod!

What started as a mod commission evolved through many iterations and changes to what you see today.

It's a mélange of the archetypical Toussaint Knight Armour with the Witcher Gryphon Armor, featuring additional custom elements, such as redcloth and chainmail textures, as well as golden trims throughout for added rizz. Also, there are 2 helmet designs provided, an "open" and a "closed" variant which can be worn separately for added variety.

Instructions

  • Download the main 'DLC" file, unpack and place the contained folder inside the Witcher 3 "DLC" folder.
  • Then start the game and make sure to enable the DLC if it's not done automatically via the game's main menu.
  • You can remove the armour mod at any time freely, as it's not set as a save requirement, but why would you want to do so?
  • Three optional files are available. One removes the feathers from the helmets and the other places the helmets in the "Masks" slot instead of the "Items" slot. Both are to be installed in the "Mods" folder.
  • The third optional file adds the Gryphon Knight Armor to the AMM mod so you can wear it as a "skin". It is compatible with both Classic and Next-Gen Editions and also requires the Unofficial AMM Additions - Tailory mod by Airshipcircus to be installed, otherwise, you will be missing out on the extra Knight-styled items it adds. Just unpack and install directly in your "Mods" folder, making sure to overwrite the single script file it asks you to!

The main file is the DLC mod which can be used as a standalone. The armour can be purchased from Bran, the WO-based "Griffin" merchant you rescue at the beginning of the game. All armour parts have very good stats without being too much, but it also depends on where you are in the game, etc. The armour parts autolevel so the final stats you see may vary.

The DLC includes a function to automatically "hide" Geralt's hair when wearing one of the helmets. For compatibility purposes, this shares the same file as in Scoutbro's Shields/Robes mods and since they are both DLCs they should work together with no issues.

If, however, you encounter an issue where Geralt wears one of the Gryphon Knight helmets and his hair is clipping through, then just give priority to the Gryphon Knight Armour mod and it should fix that issue.

The console commands to get the armor pieces "faster" are the following:
  • additem(gryphknightboots)
  • additem(gryphknightgloves)
  • additem(gryphknightpantswoboots)
  • additem(gryphknighttorso)
  • additem(gryphknighthelmetclosed)
  • additem(gryphknighthelmetopen)

Bonus (OPTIONAL) Instructions for Classic Edition users:

If you're playing the game on a version <=1.32 (Classic), then you can enable additional helmet functionality if you also have AMM installed. Download the Helmet Visor Toggle Hotkeys for Toussaint Knight's Helmets mod and make sure to install and script-merge as per instructions. Then, download the optional file here "GryphKnightArmorHelmetToggle", unpack and take its "content" folder and copy-paste inside the modCapeHoodHelmetToggle, overwriting all files when asked. After script merge again and start the game.

If everything has gone well, when you are in-game and wearing the Gryphon Knight armour, you can press the following keyboard keys to activate the extra (magical) helmet functionality:

  • Comma (default ',' key): Add/switch to visor up helmet model
  • Period (default '.' key): Add/switch to visor down helmet model
  • Slash (default '/' key): Remove helmet models

Of course, you can further customise the armour with all the extras and accessories included in the AMM mod and its special expansions for knight paraphernalia Unofficial AMM Aditions - The Tailory and Knight Hips for AMM by Airshipcircus.

As mentioned in the beginning, this is ONLY for those who are on Witcher Classic Edition and have AMM installed! And even then, it requires some experience in installing and merging mods, so it isn't for complete newbies. I have successfully merged and tested all these mods, AMM + Unofficial AMM Aditions - The Tailory + Knight Hips for AMM + W3EE for Classic Edition together with the Gryphon Knight Armor mod and they all work well. Read the pinned comments for further instructions on this.

Special Thanks

  • The original donor who commissioned this mod and graciously agreed to share with the community. That version is unique and is not the one uploaded here, but this one is about 90% the same and forms the basis for it.
  • Scoutbr0 for the shared compatibility file.
  • Error_noaccess for kindly helping with packing the DLC icons, as my Wkit installation decided to stop cooking them lol
  • All modders who contributed tools and guides to help make modding the Witcher 3 possible and easier
  • CDPR for making the game and a really good trilogy overall, although still disappointed that the VGX/E3 versions were cut/downgraded. Btw, still waiting for the W3 Enhanced Edition!
