While I appreciate what the mod is trying to do with not forcing specific comments, I don't feel like the random disjointed gwent comments and odd fast forward scenes and such break the immersion any less. A preview might be good so people know what they're getting into.
THANK YOU! I usually choose not to romance either of them but the game always forces Geralt to flirt in those scenes and it's weird if you've picked every neutral/negative response to inquiries about your relationship up to that point. So thank you for this, I can't wait to start my next playthrough now.
This mod has nothing to do with Yen verses Triss. It's about the game respecting the players choice in not romancing Yen and only about respecting that choice.
Ignore him, I could have banned him from this mod or all my mods at anytime. He is just a Witcher book reader without understanding how RPG's work with player choice. And as a book reader thinks his opinion based on the books is the end all be all opinion., I feel sorry for him and his tunnel vision.
"could have" Does those two words in that order have any meaning? Oh yes they do indeed. But obviously you did not see the 4rth and 5th word in my post and then read the rest of it to understand that I did not want to but I could have.
the game isn't respecting the players choice in not romancing Yen at that point in the game because they're still bound together by the last wish you get the freedom to choose after completing the last wish quest
I agree completely, it is up to the player and their respective choices. I for one usually always choose Triss, it feels more natural to me and not as confrontational as with Yen. Geralt can simply be himself and be happy and not have to wonder what is going to set her off at any given moment such as with Yen. That is simply my opinion though, and your mod is perfect for my play throughs. It always felt weird to choose Triss and the Geralt would still flirt with Yen and say those things and now it is fixed so thank you I really appreciate it and the work you put into it.
i dont mean to harm. in fact i applaud this mod. but that is why i must say similarly in Novigrad, Geralt is automatically forgiving to Triss for her lying to him while he was amnesiac. imagine if you are roleplaying that you love Yennefer only, regain your memory and angry at Triss. but Geralt decide for you that being used by Triss while she knows you have a true love in Yennefer doesnt matter and no problem in automatic dialogue. hopefully mods about "cleaning up" the romances will appear and im glad you showed how its possible to be done.
That's a very specific roleplay scenario, I am not going to make that but you are right the joking about being used does not fit the scenario.
Easy enough to fix, download Redkit, go to quests, then find the quest, then the scene (.w2scene file), in the screenplay tab find the line you want to change. Click it and on the right there's a box with the line in it, select it and then a triangle shaped button that pops up. clicking the button opens a new window, select a category or all of them and search for the new line you want. Double click the new line and it changes the screenplay to show that line. Select the scene above or below then the scene you changed to refresh the timeline and hit the play button to see if they say the line. If they do and it's the right voice then you are done. If not redo the whole line selection over again until you find the right "Let's Go" or whatever line.
true love for Yennefer? Why then did Geralt in The Witcher 1, after amnesia, not say a word about Yennefer, although he began to remember something, he did not remember his great love, but he remembered that he and Triss were close)Quote "I can't explain it, but there is a connection between us. You were important to me."
Well i really dont want to fuel Yen vs Triss drama on a mod page, i said "if you roleplay that you love Yennefer only" not force Yen choice, but let me explain. Tw1 Triss not only dressing much more like Yen, and acting like her, she is obviously pretending, acting like Geralt's significant other. At this point Geralt has almost no idea of anything, he doesn't remember even his Witcher brothers and father figure, just muscle memory moves. He doesn't even remember Ciri(not even when some peasant storytellers talk of her but lets take this as easter egg than important detail). And at this point the beginning of TW1, the only thing between him and Triss was platonic love from Geralts side, no romantic history at all during the books from Geralt side. There is two explanations, First, if we want to stay in lore, then there is factually nothing to remember about Triss being romantically important to Geralt at this point in time, therefore Geralt mistook his instinctive love for Yennefer to be aimed at Triss, thanks to Triss' clever manipulations. Or second explanation: as CDPR did with TW1, just like with Alvin instead of Ciri, they used Triss instead of Yen for this games story and kind of combined Yen and Triss into who we know as Triss in tw1. In TW2 the problems start, because Triss start being more like real Triss, and Yennefer starts being treated as someone who really exist and important in the game lore, but Triss apparently still haven't told Geralt the truth that she hid who her friend Yennefer is to Geralt. I loved TW2 Triss, and I'm not on Yen or Triss side, but honestly whichever romance choice, Triss doing that, while a bad thing to do to Geralt, its even worse to do to her sorceress friend Yen. So that TW3 line i complained of feels out of place for me whoever is romanced. I could only imagien Geralt just waving off such manipulation if he is totally blindly fell in love with Triss. It's simply an indecent thing to do that must be at least owned up if you asked me.
That line in TW1 had nothing to do with who he loved, Triss was a friend to Geralt and friends are important to him. Now as for her using him in TW1, it was Geralt through player choice that did that. Triss did not seduce him, he thought he was seducing her and she was just more than willing. People forget that it was Geralt that started the relationship and they could play the game without ever being romantically involved with her, remain just friends. But when it gets down to it her "using" him is more of an offense to Yen, he started it and she went along with it and did not tell him about Yen. CDPR chose the romance option for TW2, still Geralt started the relationship and he is just as guilty as her for being used. Then in Witcher 2 before he regained his memory at the end he kept having flashbacks, memories of searching for Yen, knowing she was his lover and still he remained with Triss but only as a lover if the player chose it and got the sex scene in the elven bath during the Rose Of Remembrance quest that was for Triss to help him regain all his memories using the rose even if that meant they would not be together any longer.
So the whole seduction and being used is not just Triss's doing, Geralt is equally guilty. And it is the player that did it and player choice is where all the hate should be directed.
Myself in TW1 I choose Shani over Triss without sleeping with Triss at the end of the Potion for Triss quest and would very much like to have a mod that integrates Shani into the TW3 main quest as a third romance option. Even if it is just no quests and meet here in her clinic and then seduce her then invite her to the battle at Kaer Morhen because they could use an experienced combat medic. Maybe remove Yen from the Oxenfurt quest to break into the prison. Yen tells Geralt to see Shani instead of meeting her and Shani takes him to the well that's next door. A short part in the quest but I think better as Shani would know where the entrance is while Yen should have no clue.
Yeah a Shani mod would be great, starts the first time you use the Oxenfurt notice board, exit it and enter a scene where you hear Shani say "Geralt? Is that you?", he turns around and gets a big smile on his face and says "Shani, long time no see" The the normal what are you doing in Oxenfurt blah blah blah conversation and she then says she was just picking up her supplies from the market and they should go back to her clinic to talk. They start walking that way and the screen fades to black and back in hours later at night with them talking of the good old days. A few dialogue choices and then she says she needs to get some sleep and come back in a few days meaning go back to what you were doing.
When you return there's an option to take her out to dinner amongst the repetitive dialogue. Dinner happens and an option to flirt in the dialogue. Next time you visit it's dinner and drinks at her place, more flirt dialogue and she responds in kind. Fade to black and then Geralt is outside her clinic and the door is locked. Next visit is dinner and drinks with flirting and then sex. Shani is romanced and now your partner. Dialogue is back to just the repetitive stuff if you visit her outside HOS quests with an additional flirt choice.
Most of the HOS quests would be the same, just the what are you doing in Oxenfurt and catching up is moved. Shani leaving for the front is gone if she was romanced, stays if she was not. Brothers In arms: Novigrad has Shani added, ask her for help because you need a combat medic. She shows up and you can talk to her, ask if she is nervous which she would laugh because for the past 6 months she has been patching up soldiers on the battlefield. During the planning she says she has her med kit ready and will provide medical attention when needed. Battle happens and after she runs out and kneels by Ciri then goes to Vesemir and then stands back for Geralt to put his sword in the scabbard. Funeral she says she needs to head back to Oxenfurt right away and will be traveling with Zoltan because they have allot of catching up to do and maybe get massively drunk in the first town they come across to relive the party in Grans house minus Dandelion.
BAW Shani sends the letter about mutations that you tip the kid for Aerondight. and she shows up at the house in the end.
That's what I would do if I could... but that would require scripting and to me scripting languages may as well be named Gibberish.
helhunter I have to disagree with you on Triss dressing and acting like Yen in TW1, her clothes were brown and green for the action parts, a green dress in the city, and a light colored nightie when she was in her bedroom. Yen wears black. The green and brown was carried over to TW2 just a different outfit and her green dress carries over to TW3 but different. Yen wears black and Triss did not.
As for acting like her, I didn't see it. All the voice acting was a tad reading the lines rather than acting them so she did sound a tad bossy but she also didn't sound like TW2/3 Triss. If you chose her for Alvin she goes into want to be mommy mode. None of which sounded like Yen, especially when she told Geralt her plans right away rather than when she thought the time was right. Not the TW2/3 sweetheart sounding Triss but also not Yen.
Shani is hardly mentioned in the books. She didn't have any critical situations in the game that would reveal her as a character. She simply manipulated Geralt for Alvin, while showing what a nymphomaniac she is
Why are you so incompetent? It was mentioned twice in the book that Geralt loved Triss. And Sapkowski in his article, like cdpr, recognized Triss as the former lover of Geralt of Rivia and they had real love, and not caused by the magic of the genie
have some respect Andrey, call yourself incompetent if you need reread of the books, not me. lover? he treat her diarrhea, and Triss jump into his bed once with magical manipulations , when Geralt was sad about Yennefer. nothing between them until the games story from Geralts side. Well Jet if we turn Triss hair to black, her tw1 prologue appearance would be very close to what i would imagine Yennefer, while her basic TW1 appearance i would never guess to be Triss unless someone tells me its her. until Triss TW2 self i cant connect her with the Triss book character naturally, not her appearance not her personality. i even see some similarity between Yennefer argument with Witchers in Kaer Morhen in tw3, and how the in my opinion Yennefer-like Triss is having arguments with Lambert in tw1. but you are right most of her more bossy Yen like mannerisms arent exactly Yennefer either.
Quote from book 1. Cheerful Triss Merigold with brown hair, laughing at every occasion and looking like a girl. He loved her. And she him too! 2. She seduced the witcher using almost no magic! when will you f*#@ing learn
Book characters and game characters are in many ways not the same characters. That's the thing with adaptations, you have to keep them separate in your mind or go crazy trying to rectify the differences.
@Andrey, Shani manipulated him and is a nympho? You must have played a completely different TW1 than I did. She was one of the most difficult to romance and Alvin wasn't involved at that time.
isn't this Shani manipulated Geralt because of Alvin, saying that Triss the witch is barren (offending Geralt at the same time) and she does not know how to treat children.
I didn't say she was the most difficult, I said one of the most. The most difficult was the tavern waitress you had to walk home after protecting her from thugs that probably would have raped her. And she was only difficult because it was at night in The Outskirts and you had to fight dozens of barghests and atleast 1 fleder and she could die at anytime. None of them were difficult to seduce and Triss was the easiest so that would make Triss the biggest s l u t in the game according to your logic.
Shani was difficult because yes you knew a gift for her would be good for the party but nothing in the game is saying what gift will work and it was optional. Wrong gift and no rubbing crotches together. But that's the easy part. The hard part was the same as any other time you wanted to talk to Shani at her home, Getting past grandma, and if you pissed her off before it may be impossible, So just getting into the party is a chore. Then there's the fetch pickles and lard I think for Zoltan and Dandelion to snack on. Get caught by Grandma and you will be outside looking at the front door and not be able to get in to give the gift. And in TW1 standards the required gift is pretty much the equivalent of having to work hard to seduce considering in most cases it's ask and a bang especially Lady Of the Lake... she liked the forward tell her what you want. An easier seduction than Shani. The writing and dialogue just wasn't that complex in TW1.
As for manipulation, you did not quote manipulation and there was no manipulation from Triss or Shani including when it was time to choose who Alvin would be staying with. both women insulted the other and tried to convince you to choose them but it wasn't manipulative. Manipulation requires holding something ransom or offering something you want that you currently cant get as a reward for doing what they want. Neither Triss or Shani used manipulation. Insulting is not manipulation, not even required for it and oft hurts the effort.
People who read the books think that way, cdpr used triss instead of yen in tw1 and alvin is ciri, it gets convoluted because in tw2 they decided to continue tw1 triss but also incorporate some of the things in the books, and tw3 is the result of the bools and tw1 tw2 combined.
Not really convoluted in my opinion. Yeah I can see the Triss replacing Yen theory for TW1 but then you have to do mental gymnastics to explain why she wasn't the one to initiate sex or even explain that she was his lover rather than really happy he chose to bang her out of the blue.
Alvin as Ciri, I never read the books and find fault in that. It really doesn't make sense. At no point in the game does Geralt show he gives a carp about Alvin. Indifferent is more the tone with choices in dialogue sounding phoned in. At no point did Geralt sound emotionally tied to Alvin and with TW1 dialogue he sounded like he was not at all interested, Alvin may as well have been a drowner when mentioned in the voice acting.
Ciri is Geralt's little girl, his daughter. He would lay his own life down for her or murder someone for her or even both in the same weekend. Geralt at no point showed he cared about Alvin and never to that degree.
Hi I have a question: In the Blood and Wine in the "Where Children Toil, Toys Waste Away" quest when Regis mentioned Yennefer "As would you be for Yennefer" Could you create a version where Geralt correct Regis and tell her she chose Triss if the player chooses Triss?
That would be outside the scope of this mod, this mod is not about romancing Triss, it's about Geralt not making romantic comments to Yen despite the player not romancing her.
Not so familiar, curious did he ever meet her in the books before he was turned into a pool of goo? Regardless I have no issue with the line myself if I romance Triss or nobody. If I came across an old friend and the conversation was about protecting a lover and he used my ex wife as an example, I couldn't fault him for his lack of knowledge about the divorce and new love and probably wouldn't correct him. His statement was understandable, the name in it was old knowledge and instantly forgivable. Ofcourse when having a chance to talk to an old friend I haven't seen in years he/she will be updated on my current love life. Such a time was not before that quest(forced by the game) and Regis would be under the impression that Geralt and Yennefer were a couple.
And then to top it off BAW does not explain to Regis who Geralt is romancing. Never not once is that subject and Regis together. It's a moot point in the game files. To make it happen is more of a romance overhaul mod as there is so much missing from the romance... like romance itself except for the Triss/ship/dykstra scene. In my opinion the most romantic of scenes even though I prefer Shani and think Shani is love while Triss and Yen can go F themselves.
Oops outed myself as a Shani over Triss and Yen player.
Nice. It's always grating to hear Geralt simping after Yennefer when I have no intention of romancing her. I think this is as good an excuse as any to reinstall Witcher 3.
Grating is putting it mildly. The comments are fine for when you do romance yen but if not they are the worst dialogue in the whole game. I can imagine how the people that hate yen think about them, probably want to smash something in rage lol.

It must be hard to deal with imbecile people who think they can decide what we do in game.
F#ck them. Thanks for the mod.
