Version Revision31
- {Rest assured... This is NOT an April's Fool. I release the new revision before the Switch 2 Direct.}
- Add “NGE Wild Hunt Russian Voiceover Fix”
- Add “Dead Mimics Fix – Next Gen”
- Add “Better Grass Ambient Occlusion”.
- Add “Characters Hi-Res Shadows”. Included in the Short List.
- Add “SSAO Tweaks”.
- Change the instruction for “Reasonable Sense Configuration”. Should install the optional files when using Vegetation Billboard Remastered.
- Change the instruction for “Smooth GUI”. Remove “Gwent Opponent Names And Portraits” instruction.
- Remove “Gwent Opponent Names And Portraits”
- Remove “The Wolf Medallion - Next Gen - 4k”
- Explanation:
Once again, this is NOT an April's Fool. I waited so long, where all recent mods are optimal. But since we're one day before the Switch 2 Direct, well I have to publish the revision, eventually.
The one recent mod I carefully review is SSAO Tweaks. Previously, it conflicts too many files, so I invited the author to discuss with others modders. Thanks to them, now it has fewer conflict.
This suit perfectly with the newly Dead Mimics Fix and Characters Hi-Res Shadows. Both are from the integrated old mod "Enable Mimic Face", with the missing modification we needed for so long (no more chewing dead and better shadows on NPC).
Speaking of shadow, I also add "Better Grass Ambient Occlusion". No conflict for a better visual shadow, that's a win for me.
I got the suggestion to add "NGE Wild Hunt Russian Voiceover Fix" among the Russian necessary mods.
Now then. Why did I remove Gwent Opponent Names and Wolf Medallion? Well, you know the former conflict to any Gwent mods, but I didn't know it would break Gwent mods. So for safety measure, I remove it.
The latter is from feedback I got. Looking at the texture, we notice it brings such lower quality than vanilla. Felt like upscale over an upscale, less details and more artifices.
End of explanation. I actually plan to add Infinite Mod Menu, but the mod is currently in development to address some bugs, as well as making compatible to a new mod I made.
All right, stay tuned as usual, and get hype for the Switch 2.

Version Revision30
- Add "Attack Collision Overhaul - Leshens"
- Add "Counterattack Fixes".
- Replace "Omelette Quest" with "Friendly Focus" in the Short List.
- Update "Merged Bundled Files" to follow the updated "Stronger Monster Status Effects".
- Explanation:
Two new "bug fixes" mods for the mod list. Dear... I hope half of them will be integrated to Brothers In Arms because I can't add more if everyone keep fixing the game.
I personally ask them an "All-In-One" version in the future to prevent mod limit.
Although, Stronger Monster Status Effects went into full scripts, which is good news, that one less bundle.
I also decided to replace Omelette Quest with Friendly Focus, seeing how successful the latter and bring much more impact than a restored quest.
By the way, today is Mar 10, which when read as letters, sound "Mario". Yep! Happy Mario Day. WAHOU!!
-
Version Revision29
- Add "Low XP from Some Quests Fix - Next Gen"
- Add "Better Icons - Definitive Edition"
- Change instruction for "Serif of Rivia". Put an external link for downloading.
- Change instruction for "BiA-FAP Compatible Patch". Put an external link for downloading.
- Remove "Better Icons 2022 - TIERS"
- Explanation:
A short revision because someone point me Serif of Rivia was deleted, and the creator has closed his account. No contact. That bothers me so much!! It's the only "good" font mod we have for the game that largely improve vanilla, without some fancy style.
So I'm doing something very reckless, I share an external link of THAT Serif of Rivia (with personal modification that become Smooth GUI compatible), so it is not lost forever.
Hear me, mod creators, please don't delete yours mods where they are no replacement or without any reason. I would delete the link if someone made a new font mod for Next Gen and better than vanilla.
Oh! And since I'm doing that way, I also change the link to download BiA-FAP patch, no longer need to access Discord. That's because the application is banned in some country.
Nonetheless, it is a good opportunity to replace Better Icons 2022 with its Definitive Edition, further improving and giving more choice from its newly settings.
And adding "Low XP from Some Quests Fix". I didn't add because I thought it would conflict to Essential Weapon Rework. Turns out no, it's the other mod "Increased Suggested Levels for Quests" that cause merged conflict. So that's perfect.
-
Version Revision28
- Add “All-in-One RT Performance Tweaks”
- Add “RTXGI Setting Unlocker”
- Add “Fix Camera Shake”
- Add “Fix for Blade from the Bits and Winters Blade Duplication in New Game Plus”
- Add “New Game Plus Full Kaer Morhen Gear (Next-Gen)”
- Add “Reasonable Senses Configurable”
- Add “Item Quantity Management”
- Add “Rational Inventory Icons”
- Add “Close Menu”
- Change instruction for “Tweaks”. Can now install RTXGI Unlocker.
- Change instruction for “More Reasonable Damage”. Should download the Lite and two optional files.
- Change instruction for “Smooth GUI”. No longer need AQO - CMM patch.
- Change instruction for “Lore friendly face and eyes for Yennefer”. Require to have BASE installed.
- Remove “Enable Fast Travel Highlight”
- Remove “No Highlight for Useless Doors in Toussaint”
- Remove “Better Icons – Rune (NGE)”
- Remove “Fast Stash Menu - Next-Gen”
- Explanation:
I took one-week holiday and what I got? Lots of new/update mods! I knew writing "It may become redundant in the future with game update, mod update or new mods." will come in handy.
Firstly. RTXGI is finally updated, no more crash. I added then All-In-One RT Performance as suggestion to the community, and change the instruction for Tweaks.
Secondly. Three new bug fixes, as usual, one for smoother camera and two when starting New Game Plus. I expect they will be incorporated to Brothers In Arms.
Thirdly, we got three news mods "Reasonable Senses Configurable", "Item Quantity Management" and "Rational Inventory Icons" that does better job than "Enable Fast Travel Highlight", "No Hightlight for Useless Doors in Toussaint", "Better Icons Rune" and "Fast Stash Menu".
Fourth. One new scripted mod "Close Menu" for easier navigation to the menu.
Firth, both More Reasonable Damage and Lore Friendly Yennefer got an important update that I have to change their instruction.
Sixth, someone point me we no longer need Smooth GUI AQO CMM patch. I actually forgot to delete this instruction.
More update and more new mods are still to be expected. I count on you for any feedback and suggestion whenever I'm off.
-
Version Revision27
- Remove "Restored Content - Woodland Spirit"
- Separate the language mods from Bug Fixes into their own category
- Explanation:
As someone pointed, there is so much bug fixes mods that doesn't highlight enough the language mods. So I separate them.
Despite my main language is English (and French through family), I always support translation where I make sure there are available, so people need to check if they could use the mod or not.
Which bring on the removal of Woodland Spirit. That mod add AI voice-acting for English only which... is harder to translate. This is also the same reason of why I removed Ciri Witcheress Ending mod before.
So new rule to include mod in Essential Mod List: NO ENGLISH VOICE ACTING ONLY!!
-
Version Revision26
- Add “Fix Boat Senses Sound”
- Add “Fix Loot Sound”
- Add “Fixed Scabbards Shading”
- Add “Superior Black Blood redesign”
- Add “Enable Fast Travel Hightlight”
- Add “No Hightlight for Useless Doors in Toussaint”
- Add “No Quest Torch Equip”
- Add “Better Icons – Runes”
- Add “Rational Crafting”. Included in Short List!
- Add “Unread Schematics and Recipes”
- Add “Boot icon recolor”
- Add “Restored Icons – Next Gen”
- Add “Decorative swords (fix NextGen)”
- Remove “Ciri Witcher Ending Restoration”
- Remove “Vesemir’s Dagger Restored”
- Remove “Bsbah’s Fringilla Upgrade”
- Remove “Pratical Phillipa Eilhart – Philippa Overhaul”
- This include updated Priority Files and Merged Bundled Files
- Explanation:
Yes. That’s a lot of new and deleted mods! Those were recommendations from the community and a few are recently new. Let’s do a quick summarise:
Three new bug fixes about boat, loot and scabbards. The latter I didn’t include it because of “Lore Friendly Scabbard” which I remove it after all. Then one balancing mod to Black Blood potion, so fighting against vampire aren’t very easy.
Some new quality of life mod that allow to seek signpost using witcher sense, and the removal auto equip torch during certain quests. Those are useful when combining with “Friendly Focus” or “Dynamic Cat Potion”.
Adding mods to reworks the UI. There is “Better Icons – Runes” in complement to “Better Icons 2022 TIERS” for runestones/glyphstones. Then a mod to hightlight an asterix when received new recipes. More importantly, there is Rational Crafting that sort those craftings panels in perfect sense, much easier to naviguate. That’s why I include it in the Short List.
For misc contents, there is “Restored Icons” and its complement mod “Boot icon recolor”. Honestly, those should be added in Brothers In Arms if the author grant the permission. I didn’t add it in a fear someone would ask “should I merge with BiA and EWR” (the answer is: yes, but not BiA if it conflict to EWR).
Last mod to add is a little visual change: “Decoractive swords”. No edit to equipped sword, but just those meant for decorate the environement.
With last, that’s a lot of adding mods (and probably more in the future) that I have to clean up a bit. I got report both “Ciri Witcher Sending Restoration” and “Vesemir’s Dagger Restored” don’t work in all situation (I hope the latter will be fix).
And then I delete mods that change Fringilla and Phillipa appearance to keep consistence with vanilla and since those were a bit subjective despite being closely “book friendly”.
It's hard to keep a mod list less than 180 bundles. I wish they are compiled into one common purpose mod, especially those fixes/restored mods being part of Brothers In Arms. But hey! Changes are to be expected and we have to grasp them.
-
Version Revision25
- Add “Neutral Face Mimic”.
- Add “Radovid V the Stern”
- Change the instruction for “Tweaks” for NOT installing RTGXI Unlocker.
- Change the instruction for “Improved Horse Control”. Should download the Standard version.
- Remove “RTGXI Unlocker”
- Remove “Optimised Ray Tracing”
- Remove “Radovid the Sternest. Lore Retexture (Younger - No Beard - Short Hair)”
- Update Merged Bundled Files
- Explanation:
Well... there are lots to say...
Someone have found the cause of the frequent DX12 crash... it's RTGXI Unlocker. I knew it was outdated, but I kept it since Tweaks needed that. I opt then to remove this utility mod alongside Optimised Ray Tracing that cannot work without it.
But I kept Tweaks. There are many settings we can still rely even on DX12, so I change the instruction saying "Do NOT install" RTGXI Unlocker. I'll add it back once it has been updated with the hope of no more crash.
To change the subject, I hold the revision waiting for More Reasonable Damage being updated so I could update the Merged Bundled Files. So I was late to add the hot spot mod Neutral Face Mimic. I didn't think changing eyebrows could change everything on Geralt the Mutant, but the result is amazing of a simple idea.
I also replace the young Radovid mod with a newer one where he is wearing the same armour as Witcher 2, and he looks better. Still, I prefer the old, as it's Lore-Friendly.
I have the feeling something is coming... the future is uncertain.
-
Version Revision24
- Add "Fix Boat Speed"
- Change instruction for "More Reasonable Damage". Should download the "Not Set bonus" version.
- Change instruction for "Improved Nilfgaard Faction". Rename the correct main file to download.
- Change instruction for "Mutagen Tab Alchemy". Should download the Next Gen version.
- Update the Priority List and Merged Bundled Files.
- Explanation:
SWITCH 2 REVEAL!! Sorry, off-topic.
I already said that, but More Reasonable Damage is still in development to further balance skills and Sign, for which the author is looking larger than he thought. He got request of many people to keep it simple without touching Witcher Bonus or compromise other mods. I agree with them, and so I change the instruction to download the "Not Set Bonus".
As for Improved Nilfgaard/Temerian Faction, both mods were further improved, and I always check whether we need to prioritise or bring new conflict. And then, Mutagen Tab Alchemy got new main files, so I have to rename it as well.
Those were the invisible change in the description before I release the revision. I was waiting for one new mod or major update. That went to "Fix Boat Speed", another bug fixes mod.
-
Version Revision23
- HDRP UPDATE, LET'S GO!!
- Change the instruction for HD Rework Project. No longer need to merge.
- Add "Improved Nilfgaard Faction"
- Add "Improved Temerian Faction"
- Remove "Nilfgaardian golden armor texture"
- Redone the Priority list, notably Progress on the Path now have very high priority.
- Change the "Final Step" instruction with a link guide on how to merge conflict.
- Explanation:
While I was about to add two new mods, we just got a new HD Rework Project update with all the "Fix" integrated to the main files. Super, I can remove the instruction of "Do not merge" then.
(Insert *Now it's your turn* meme toward Brothers In Arms).
Bref. The new mods are "Improved Nilfgaard Faction" and "Improved Temerian Faction". They are BiA compatible and complement well with "Faction Appearance Project". Plus I can replace with the external mod "Nilfgaardian golden armor texture", so now it's deleted.
As for the guide part, I have redone (again) the priority list, and add a link on how to deal to merged conflict. This may be useful.
For sure, they are not done making HDRP and BiA. You can always count me whenever those mods got an update.
-
Version Revision22
- Add "(SNC) Standardized Naming Convention - Runestones and Glyphs"
- Remove "Insane Geralt Eyes (Books Inspired) NEXT-GEN is also working"
- Remove "Lore-Friendly Scabbards"
- Remove "Insane Ciri Eyes (Books Inspired) NEXT-GEN is also working"
- Remove "Insane Yennefer Eyes (Books Inspired) NEXT-GEN is also working"
- Rearrange the priority number to set for all mods for the Priority Files.
- Follow the updated "More Reasonable Damage" for the Merged Bundle Files.
- Explanation:
Adding more convention text mod such "SNC Runestone and Glyphs" is a plus for me.
Someone point hidden conflict about Realistic Eyes where it overwrites any eyes texture mods. I could instruct setting lower priority with a lot of {P}, but in the recent revision, I added too many mods that may reach more than 170 mods.
So because Realistic Eyes does enough job and affect Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer and Triss, I decided to remove the "Insane Eyes" mods. I promise if the author release an "Insane Eyes" compilation mod, I'll add it back. I also report to Realisitc Eyes about those hidden conflict and being higher priority by default, so the conflicts are noticeable.
Furthermore, I remove "Lore Friendly Scabbard" because it's a more subjective change which the vanilla scabbard isn't bad (they suit well enough to the armour).
With all the removal, I reorder the priority list, and upload a new Merged Bundle Files for the updated More Reasonable Damage. The latter is still in development, so sending feedback on their change is appreciated for the author and for me.
With all said, I wish you happy new years!!
-
Version Revision21
- Add "Standardised Names - Mutagens"
- Move "Community Patch - World Map" into "User Interface" category, leaving all other "Utility" mods optional!
- Change instruction for "Preparation" to specifically add shortcut of Menu Filelist Updater in the folder "Witcher 3 Modding"
- Add warning about DLSS Enabler might frequently crash the game. Also add note you don't need if you have RTX 4000 series or more.
- Explanation:
I know crash sometimes happens in the game, and more often when playing on DX12. But it's very difficult to fix it or find a workaround. People claim removing DLSS Enabler or either not running Ray Tracing reduce the potential crash. So I added the warning for the DLSS Enabler.
I also change a bit the Preparation instruction because I omit to tell the correct folder name. And move the mod "CP World Map" into "User Interface" as it was the only utility mod necessary. That way, you don't have to download all Utility mods.
This is the guide change. To complement it, I add a freshly new mod: "Standardised Names Mutagens". It's only for English at the moment, but I predict translation is coming soon.
2025 is on the way!
-
Version Revision20
- Add "More Reasonable Damage"
- Change the Preparation instruction to download both the "Executable" and "ASI" of Menu Filelist Updater
- Change the Final Steap instruction where to specifically select all Bundled Text except between BiA and EWR, and between HDRP itself.
- Explanation:
Two feedback I got, people asking me which Menu Filelist Updater. I discuss with the author, and he agreed using both Executable and ASI version is the way to do.
And then someone point me I wrote as final step "Merge all Bundled Text", which at the moment I instruct not merging BiA, EWR and HDRP together (in the bundled text).
I'm so happy people took attention to the guide and are getting better with their questions. *crying*
But before I could rewrite the guide, I needed to add something new. With good timing, my friend Teamy made the new mod "More Reasonable Damage" that complement well with "Balanced Damage & Scaling". The mod is still a work in progress and I specifically request to make it compatible as much as he can.
2024 is ending, I wish you happy holiday.
-
Version Revision19
- Rewrite the "Preparation" instruction for separating "Mod Manager" installation and "Manual" installation.
- Add "Better Sword Sheathing"
- Add "Unreasonable Plot Redesigned". Included in the Short List.
- Change instruction for "Auto Take All". Forgot to say "Use Menu Filelist Updater".
- Change instruction for "Vegetation Billboard Remastered". Use the new main files V2.
- Explanation:
I got a question where to put mods for using the Mod Manager. That was a good question, so I added the instruction to create two folders: one for "Manager Install" and the other for "Manual Install".
Then I added two new mods: Better Sword Sheathing, which is a new bugfixing mod and any of that category are in the list.
And Unreasonable Plot Redesigned, a BiA compatible mod that tweaks some quest to make them... understandable. Especially to "Reason of the State" which is one of the most hated quests (not because it's unplayable, but because the story is bad and make no sense for the game plot).
I also change the instruction for Vegetation Billboard Remastered to take the new main files, which I think it's better, and Auto Take All where I forgot to instruct using Menu Filelist Updater.
That's all to say. Some of my modder friend are making more mods and improvement in the future, so I'm looking forward.
-
Version Revision18
- Add "Brothers In Arms - HD Reworked Project Compatible Patch". As well as in the Short List.
- Add "Smooth GUI - HD Reworked Project Compatible Patch".
- Change instruction for "Nilfgaardian golden armor texture". Should download the HDRP version.
- Update "Merged Bundled Files" to follow the updated HD Reworked Project.
- Explanations:
And... my job is finished about HDRP. I made compatible patch where I can. Thanks to Halk and all the authors for their permission and generosity.
(wow, that's a short revision!)
-
Version Revision17
- Add °L° legend: "May greatly reach the mod limit." In case you got that issue so you know which mod you should delete.
- Add "HDAR - HD Animals Reworked". And in the "Short List" as well.
- Change instruction for "HD Reworked Project". Should install the second main files and should NOT merge between HDRP folders.
- Change instruction for "E3 HD Bird". Should set priority 180.
- Remove "Enhanced Water"
- Remove "Animals - Next Gen"
- Explanation:
I'm not done yet with HDRP. But I finish reviewing the mod so I could adjust its conflict and how to install it. I just send a fix and he gently took it, but because it's in the "Main File Fix", there is the instruction of "DO NOT MERGE IT".
Since the mod list offers over 160 mods and HDRP is very heavy, there is a chance we might reach mod limit. So I add a new legend about it, that you know which you should delete to fix this mod limit.
I replace Dhu"s "Animals" with Denroth "HDAR". With respect to her, the mod doesn't cover all animals and in 4K. But I'll be glad to put it back once the mod is finish. With that, I have to put the instruction both HDAR and HD Bird must have higher priority than HDRP.
I remove Enhanced Water since HDRP also improve water in a better way.
Next revision will be again on HDRP. Either I finish making a compatible patch, or the mod got an update.
-
Version Revision16
- Add the long-waited second Must-Have Mod: "The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project" (even in the Short List).
Now Essential Mod List will be build on both Brothers In Arms AND HD Rework Project. - Add "Ciri Witcher Ending Restoration"
- Add "French Localisation Fix"
- Add "Sell Unwanted Bolts - NG"
- Add "Radovid the Sternest. Lore Retexture (Younger - No Beard - Short Hair)"
- Remove "E3 HD Cows Reworked Project NEXT GEN"
- Explanation:
HAPPY HDRP RELEASE!!
The list isn't ready yet for the HD Rework Project, but I wanted to immediately add in the list so I could read any feedback. I'll work all mods are HDRP compatible if necessary, and the first job is making both BiA and HDRP compatible to each other.
Aside that, I add Ciri Witcher Ending Restoration, with special request it's BASE compatible. Then French Localisation Fix since, you know, the mod list support every language. Adding Sell Unwanted Bolts for a nice little QoL mod and friendly mergeable.
And finally, add "Radovid the Sternest Lore Retexture" mod. For a long time I wanted a Lore-Friendly Radowic mod but faithful to the "CDPR" character version (not with baby face).
One last, I decided to remove E3 HD Cows, not because of HDRP, but for some bizarre reason where AMD user got crash when using this mod.
That's all to say. The next revision will be now focused on HDRP, stay tuned.
- Add the long-waited second Must-Have Mod: "The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project" (even in the Short List).
-
Version Revision15
- Change instruction for "The Essential Weapon Rework". Should NOT MERGE with Brothers In Arms and put in priority 160.
- Remove "Smooth Mount and Dismount Next-Gen"
- Explanation:
Very unfortunate!! Zowbaid and I have found one bug, caused by Brothers In Arms. We already send them a fix, but until the patch arrive, we just update The Essential Weapon Rework with the new fix at the cost of "Do not merge with BiA" instruction. I'm sad but we have to do.
I also remove "Smooth Mount and Dismount Next Gen" since it brings issue when playing with Close Camera. That's one of the rule of this mod, all mod should work for any play style.
I hope all the authors of those mods will fix the issue I mention so I could add them back.
-
Version Revision14
- Brothers In Arms has been updated to 2.8. Please download all the new updated mods, including from Discord.
- Add ""Beauclair NPC Spawn Fix"
- Add "True E3 Armour - Next Gen Remaster"
- Change instruction for "Progress on the Path". A few files have been deleted since its update.
- Update Merged Bundled Files, to follow the updated Essential Weapon Rework and Brothers In Arms.
- Remove "OFG's Retexed Vipers"
- Explanation:
Brothers In Arms got an update, I have to look all new conflict and work with other people of making it compatible. It's like getting a game update, as you can imagine. Thanks to all mod author for the patience.
With that said, I add a new Bug Fix mod: "Beauclair NPC Spawn Fix" and I work it's being BiA Compatible.
And I replace OFG Retexed Viper by another mod from the same author: "True E3 Armour". I review it and it's closer to vanilla. You may keep the other mod if you prefer it.
This week we got an update of the must-have mod. Next month we're going to have the released of another great mod. I'll hope I won't work too hard for this...
-
Version Revision13
- Add "Next Gen Shadows Flickering Shadows".
- Add "Sound pause when reading books".
- Update Merged Bundled Files, to follow the updated Essential Weapon Rework.
- Explanation:
1.5 years... it took 1.5 years to finally fix one of the Next Gen flaws: flickering shadow. There are many people staying on Classic 1.32 because of it. NOW IT'S GONE. YAY!! Keep in mind, the mod was made for dx11, or for dx12 WITH Ray Tracing Shadows.
I also add "Sound pause when reading books". As the game has lots of reading moment, it's relaxing when we don't hear music or talking NPC.
-
Version Revision12
- Add "Enhanced Water".
- Change instruction for "Quests Tweaks". Should install the BiA compatible version.
- Change instruction for "OFG's Retexed Vipers". The main files has been renamed.
- Remove "Elysium"
- Explanation:
OGF's Retexed Vipers has been updated multiple times that I miss out the main file was changed as well. I take another review and correctly rewrite the instruction for the newer version.
Then someone point me I instruct the wrong file of Quests Tweaks. It should obviously take the BiA compatible version.
Elysium make the world beautiful on Velen and Toussaint. But I decided to remove it, because there is less plants variety and colours on Skelliger, thus vanilla seem better than this mod on this area. I already wrote feedback about it and I hope the author will gently rework to make it more vanilla but better.
Given I remove one "Visual & Graphic" mod and I know most of you are looking to this category, I add one popular mod: Enhanced Water. Most people and guide recommended it. I don't like it personally, but hey! If it's better, then it's better.
-
Version Revision11
- Add "Slimmer Griffin Armor".
- Change instruction for "Brothers In Arms". Remove the deleted "BiA - Sound and Music fix".
- Change instruction for "Quest Tweaks". Can be installed with Witcher 3 Mod Manager.
- Change instruction for "SCAAR". The "Next Gen" main files is now easier to install.
- Remove "Griffin Armour (On The Path) Update".
- Remove "Icons for On the Path Griffin Armor".
- For Short List. Replace "Lamp on Player's boat" with "Quest Tweaks".
- Explanation:
Griffin Armour On the Path is great and feel much like chivalry. I still recommend it for Griffin average player.
I just decided to remove it because the retexture is too much and I recall there is another mod that make the "vanilla look" better: Slimmer Griffin Armor. Yeah, I forgot one of the game's flaw. There is even a patch for Griffin on the Path, so it's a win-win.
I notice BiA Sound and Music fixes has been deleted because of issues, so I delete the instruction as well.
And both Quest Tweaks and SCAAR have been updating to make the installation easier. And since Quest Tweaks can be installed with a mod manager, I decided to add on "Short List". Honestly, of all [M] mods instruction, I wish Progress on the Path can be installed via mod manager AND by default higher priority than BiA, so I could add in the Short list (that would replace Insane Geralt Eyes).
-
Version Revision10
- Add a "Short List" section in the description. Showing my personal top 30 mods for lazy person.
- Change instruction for "zzjay Blood and Wine NPCs". Should download the main file "02 - BW NPCS - AIO - Regis NO EYES" instead.
- Explanation:
The mod list popularity has growing up, far beyond Nexus. I receive feedback it's... too long. Which I admit, hehe... There are too many great mods for the game. One person even ask me what's my "top 20 mods" to make it shorter.
That's gave me the idea then to write my "top 30". This is like a TL;DR where I select the best among the best for first-time modding.
Additionally, zzjay B&W NPC mod have been rearranged for the character Regis. There is a risk human/vampire transition would be buggy, but I'm willing to test the "no Regis eye" version and hoping there is no problem. Feedback on this is welcome for me and for the author.
-
Version Revision9
- Add "(Next-gen) Vietnamese Translation".
- Change instruction for "Gwent Opponent Names". Renamed as "Gwent Opponent Names And Portraits".
- Change instruction for "Smooth GUI". Require multiple optional files, included the new "Smooth GUI - Gwent Opponent Names".
- Change instruction for " The Wolf Medallion". Replaced by " The Wolf Medallion - Next Gen - 4k".
- Explanation:
YES... Wolf Medallion is now in 4K. That was one of the texture mods that isn't Next Gen Compatible in my list. Now it is, youpi!
Gwent Opponent Names was updated to now affect Gwent sfw. Seeing it conflict with Smooth GUI, I make a patch and share to the author. Another contribution of me just to improve more compatibility.
Finally, as you know, the mod list support many language/translation mods for everyone. I found out there was a Vietnamese mod, so I adding it.
I also want to say I’m currently working on a contribution mod, so once it's ready, I'll add in the mod list. Stay tuned.
-
Version Revision8
- Add "Freecam Mod (Script Edition) for NextGen"
- Add "Progress on the Path - TW3 Progress Tracker (Next Gen)"
- Add "Insane Geralt Eyes (Books Inspired) NEXT-GEN is also working"
- Change instruction for "Auto Take All". Require manual installation instead.
- Change instruction for "Practical Philippa Eilhart - Philippa Overhaul". New main files to install.
- The priority file has been changed.
- Explanation:
I track lot of mods and waiting for their improvement so I could add in the mod list. One of them is Practical Phillippa. I send an All In One version and BASE compatible to the author.
I decided to add Freecam Mod since it always nice to look on something we shouldn't look. And add back the Insane Geralt Eyes, since I got feedback Butcher of Blaviken didn't include his eyes for the Striga version.
Finally, I add Progress on the Path. One of the most essential in my eye, but a hard one to install. Thanks to the community, I wrote an instruction in the clearer way I could and it was a success for them. One drawback is that I have to change the instruction of Auto Take All for manual installation instead, because both the mod from the same author shared same files. Using mod manager would mess up.
That's all I can say. Next revision might perhaps be when there are new mods or new update.
-
Version Revision7
- Add "Triss Corvo Bianco Dialogue Fix - True Dress"
- Add "Elysium - A Complete Next Gen Grass Overhaul"
- Change instruction for "The Butcher of Blaviken Lore-Friendly Geralt". Now use the main file "“3.1 -The Butcher of Blaviken -WE- Striga Scar -4K”.
- Remove "Ladder With Torch - Next Gen"
- Remove "Insane Geralt Eyes (Books Inspired) NEXT-GEN is also working"
- Remove "Blue Hood for Triss"
- Remove "Lore-friendly casual outfit for Triss"
- Remove "Triss Book Locks - Glorified Cont'd"
- Some mods has the tag "For DX12 only" so those DX11 enjoyer won't need them.
- Explanation:
One of the mod list goal is to "Enhance the lore". But if I focus too much on this, I will drastically change everything and going too far to vanilla. So I decided to keep only those which visually keep the vanilla aspect. That's hurt me to remove those beautiful "Blue Triss" mods. But hey, one more bugfix mod about that.
I also decided to remove "Insane Geralt Eye" and use instead one main file of "Butcher of Blaciken" eye version. So it reduce the installed mods.
I got feedback "Better Torch" has its own "Ladder With Torch", so we don't need the latter.
And finally, I decided to add the new "Elysium". It's not too much and better than vanilla, I give that.
I should remind it's just an advertise to "Essential mods". The main purpose is that you take what we collectively consider as the best mods for vanilla experience, and you have the liberty to readjust or expand the mod list. For example if you wish to have the perfect "Lore Friendly Triss" or play Geralt with black hair (*urg*), do it then and enjoy the game.

Version Revision6
- Add "Restored Content - Buffed Monster - Next Gen"
- Change instruction for "Smooth GUI". No longer need "mod00ColoredMapMarkers_AQO_SGUI"
- Change instruction for "Unread Descriptions - Sort Everything minor tweaks ". Should download "UD-SE-Minor Tweaks-Extras-Patch - Next-Gen" and "modSortEverything_EXTRAS_PTE_patch"
- Remove "Remove upgrade save rune - glyph"
- Remove "Item Selection".
- Explanation:
This time I review the user interface and see if all works well. Until I met one bug from "Potion Tab Expanded" when using Sort Everything. I went seeing if it wasn't "Unread Description" but then to my shock, I read it more than I thought!! I used it on Classic 1.32 and I know how essential is, but never I knew the mod further improve since its Next Gen update. So I change the instruction of "Unread Description" where it improve both "Potion Tab Expanded" and "Sort Everything".
I decided to remove "Item Selection" because I failed to read "will disable Radial Menu". That's a no to me! I have to consider every play style for this mod list, for K&M, controller, Quick Cast Sign, etc...
Then seeing there are rooms for more User Interface mod, I thought I would test "Restored Content - Buffed Monster" if it suit with the mod list. And... that suit better! Merged well in the scripts and bundled text and it replace "mod00ColoredMapMarkers_AQO_SGUI" from Smooth GUI. That's perfect.
I review again which mod is less necessary and it comes to "Remove upgrade save rune - glyph". We easily get many runes and glyphes in the game so the mod isn't that necessary.
There is another mod I track and waiting its update because I send an improvement request and the author replied for that. So when it's ready, It will be in the mod list.

Version Revision5
- Add "Ciri Grey Hair".
- Change instruction for "Base Appearances Special Expansion". Should install the miscellaneous file " Party at Chameleon patch"
- Change instruction for "E3 Boat and Sail". Should install the optional file " Multiple Boats - E3 Boat and Vanilla"
- Change instruction for "Practical Philippa Eilhart - Philippa Overhaul". Should install the main file “Practical Philippa Eilhart - Hair and Face”.
- Remove "Keep runewords on Witcher set gear upgrade"
- Remove "New VGX Geralt Boat (Alt E3 Appearance) NEXT GEN"
- Rename the Merged Bundled into "mod0123_MergedBundles". For some reason... Script Merger thought it's the merged files.
- Explanation:
I was testing those characters mods, hoping they mix well together. It did, but... I found Pratical Phillippa doesn't look good with outfit only, so I put her Face and Hair main files. I also discover one bug when using BASE. I send the fix to the author and I already set priority in case it's uploaded (I hope).
Speaking of BASE, I found there is a compatibility patch for "DLC - Party at Chamelion". I forgot to add in the list.
Then I notice Ciri didn't have grey hair, I thought Somewhat Ciri did but it didn't. So I add "Ciri Grey Hair". More lore friendly character texture is a plus for me.
I decided to remove New VGX Geralt Boat (Alt E3 Appearance), not because it's bad. Hey one of good mod I recommend! It's just too much since we already have E3 Boat and Lamp on Boat. So having two type of boats is enough, but that doesn't stop you having three boat type instead :)
Finally, someone report me "Keep Runework on Witcher set" is actually in the base game. I forgot it was.
And then someone report the Merged Bundled, for odd reason, is automatically read as "merged files" by Script Merger. It should be avoided because your merged scripts won't be read. So now it's fixed.
-
Version Revision4
- Add "Improved Fist Fight"
- Change instruction for "The Essential Weapon Rework Mod - NEXT GEN Compatible". Now it can merge since it's Brothers In Arms compatible (finally!!)
- Change instruction of "Crossbow Rework". Now it can merge with Essential Weapon Rework since... well it can merge now!
- Remove "Even Cheaper Runewright Next Gen".
- Explanation:
I finally convince the author of "The Essential Weapon Rework Mod - NEXT GEN Compatible" to make it Brothers In Arms compatible. That's why I instructed not merging it. Now it can merge without causing merge conflict.
I can now restore the old version of my "Crossbow Rework" since it was already friendly mergeable with Essential Weapon Rework. But more importantly add "Improved Fist Fight". It was planning to be in the mod list, but I couldn't because of the unmergeable Essential Weapon Rework.
However, I have to sacrifice one mod. There are many "Gameplay" and "QoL" mods and the list is large enough. So I decided to remove "Even Cheaper Runewright Next Gen".
I put it (and I still recommend it) because it's Brothers In Arms compatible and I know how hateful is the Runewright quest. But in truth we are rarely poor in the game and I already add one mod for that, which is "Cheaper Lore Friendly Shop Price".
-
Version Revision3
- Remove "Restored Content - Shrines of Verna - Next-Gen".
- Reason: it's actually included in "Content Expansion - Time of Sword and Axe", it's a good additional mod so I remove it to avoid unintentional conflict with it.
-
Version Revision2
- Change instruction for "'Enhanced Yennefer". Should install manually now.
- Explanation:
It's one of the mod I update and send to the author. He gently upload it and now Yennefer can be rendering in higher LOD than Classic 1.32.
Unfortunately, the mod is now packed where it's impossible to install with Mod Manager. So I have to explicitly instruct of installing manually instead.
