Trying to play with this and it feels like Kiwami 2, except boss health still chips away and I think that's fine.
I think it was a mistake to tell my friends that I'm playing with this mod, they're complaining about Yakuza 3 combat and now they're complaining about me trying fixes to address it.
I would like to use this but I am already using the Quickstep Restoration mod, does this have a buffed Quickstep distance already built into it's property.bin file or has that part of it been left alone? Edit: Just read the other comments and saw it does have it built-in but I cannot remove my comment so ignore this lmao.
The changes are very subtle but honestly go a long way towards improving the overall feel of the game's combat. I'm in love. I would like to recommend some potential changes/updates, if you could of course work on them:
-Further increase to a bunch of the heat actions' damage (not too much however cause it will make this game an absolute joke like Y4) -Dodge cancelling in heat mode -Something that will alter how the backwards kick is activated (i.e. you're walking backwards to setup for a tiger drop but you instead do a backwards kick when you press Y/Triangle) -More guardbreaks(?) (Personally I feel like the current amount is sufficient but at the same time it'd be extra nice to be able to guardbreak with the 2 light 1 heavy combo more consistently)
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I can't do the first three since that would require editing files that aren't moddable yet(But there is someone working it so it might happen sometime in the future). I can def add more guard breaks for finisher attacks.
can you give more info about this? is there any way i can follow progress of the person making files moddable?
making the games combat better would go such a long way, ive been trying to get s rank in all the ultimate battles but its so difficult and it doesn't feel fair at all.
I watched a video comparing the remaster to the original ps3 version and there were tons of issues introduced to the remaster such as the heat bar dropping much faster and enemy reaction time being insanely fast, you do a quickstep behind them and they turn around immediately.
let me ask if some things are possible: -making kiryu get up faster after being knocked down -make it possible to react faster when enemies hit you and you are just stunlocked like can i quickstep away? maybe decrease kiryu stun time -when a enemy, particularly a boss grabs you make it possible to break free easier, pretty much every time i get grabbed i have to button mash so hard its insane and most of the time in boss battles if i get grabbed i don't even bother mashing its pointless -you made more attacks break guards but enemies just re-guard immediately, can enemies just guard less or be able to break their guard even easier -gain heat easier and lose it slower -more heat move damage across the board, stomping on a dudes face at this point just wastes heat it does so little damage
that's all I can think of for now, you are the only modder currently tweaking this sort of stuff so i want to encourage you to make your mod fix the games combat as much as possible
oh i thought of another, during the "feel the heat" moments can you make it much much easier to finish i have to mash so hard there too its totally unnecessary i have to enable turbo on the button

Unfortunately most of the stuff you suggested is either not possible to my knowledge(Faster after being knocked down, react faster to hits), hard-coded(Break from grabs easier, enemies blocking less, less heat loss drain), or not moddable yet(Heat damage). Obviously if something does become possible to do I'll do it. But as it stands right now, there's not much I can change to make a notable difference.
extract the file once it's downloaded, go into it and copy the 'motion' folder inside, then go to yakuza 3's files (you can access them from steam by rightclicking the game, going to 'manage' and clicking browse local files) and paste the motion folder into the data folder

Found it by pure chance, I was about to release a mod that's like this too but I feel like it's redundant having 2 mods that have the same goal. This may be sudden, but I wanted to ask if you'd be down to merge my mod with yours and then release that as an update?
I had a lot of stuff done already, if you want you can check out the WIP changelog I had. Thought it'd be neat to collab, since my mod mitigates some remastered issues yours couldn't, like the knockdown grabs or enemies turning around instantly (though it does so by just making Kiryu faster)

You think its possible to fix the backwards shoulder pick up? They bugged it in remaster, they always turn around just before your first punch connects.
