🩹 Patch 8 compatible updates for Adjustable Party Limit and Tactician Enhanced are now available! 🩹
Updates that make Adjustable Party Limit and Tactician Enhanced compatible with the final patch for Baldur's Gate 3 are now available for download from the in-game mod manager and Nexus Mods if you're on PC. If you're on console, you'll need to wait a few weeks for the updates, since new files for existing mods still need to get approved just like new console mods. In addition to making the mods compatible with Patch 8, both also contain bug fixes and Adjustable Party Limit has some new features. Let's talk about what's new.
🆕 New features in Adjustable Party Limit. 🆕
v3.0 for Adjustable Party Limit introduces some of the most requested additions that players have been asking for since the mod's launch.
By far the most common request was for some way to be able to quickly add everyone back to your party in the morning, since this mod requires you to trim your party down to 4 members or less before you can long rest. As of this update, this functionality now exists! A new spell called "Restore Party to Pre-Trimmed State" has been added, which will allow you to quickly add back everyone who was removed from the party when you used the "Trim Party Down to 4 Members" spell! Using this, you can radically increase the speed at which you get back to adventuring, rather than having to talk to every individual person in your camp.
Other big additions include new code so that when your party is given the "Debtor's Attire" by a certain spirit in a certain "house" (I am being cryptic because of spoilers) the attire will be given to and equipped on every member of the party instead of just the first four, and Adjustable Party Limit's "Tutorials and Warnings" pop-ups will no longer appear every time you go to access the configuration spells. Instead, they will now only appear the first time you go to access them.
There are other features and changes not mentioned here. If you want the full list, click the "View release notes" button next to the version number in Mod.io, or click the version number in Nexus Mods to see the full patch notes!
🪲 A variety of bug fixes in both mods. 🪲
Adjustable Party Limit and Tactician Enhanced have also received a variety of bug fixes. The most important is in regards to a core issue introduced in Patch 8, which caused the bug where you could not activate the passive, and by extension, could not access the spells to edit this mod's settings. Between the mod being recompiled in the Patch 8 toolkit, and the new code to ensure this behavior doesn't happen, you are okay to run both mods with the final patch!
Issues concerning the party limit being reset when it shouldn't and the "Trim Party Down to 4 Members" spell appearing when it shouldn't have been fixed on Adjustable Party Limit, and issues with doppelgangers not receiving buffs and the Hag's doubles getting full hitpoints instead of copying the Hag's health have been fixed on Tactician Enhanced. Tactician Enhanced has also introduced some of its own changes to the Hag fight to help preserve her illusion, so you can't cheese the fight by paying attention to hitpoints changing when they spawn or what order statuses are in.
As with the new features, if you want full details, please click the "View release notes" button next to the version number in Mod.io, or click the version number in Nexus Mods to see the full patch notes.
🎮 Console when? 🎮
Larian has made it extraordinarily clear that they fully intend to prioritize updates to existing mods over new mods for the first few weeks after Patch 8's release. That said, please keep in mind that the folks at Larian get a long weekend due to the Easter bank holiday just as many other companies do, so that will slightly impact the first round of new approvals. I don't think this will impact my mods much though, as I didn't really intend to submit the new updates until after they get back anyway. This is so I can ensure there are not any critical issues in either mod, which is important since it's very possible that these become the definitive versions of these mods on console.
I plan to submit the updates for approval on some date between April 22nd and April 25th. While it's nearly impossible to say when exactly they'll be approved, I am confident it will be measured in at worst weeks, not months.
🚫 Issues unrelated to my mods. 🚫
Please do not report issues pertaining to failed mod downloads in the IGMM, failures to load the game/playthrough, or failures to load into multiplayer. Neither my mod, nor any particular mod, are the reason these are happening. These are bugs with the game or Mod.io.
Thank you so much to everyone who donates on Ko-Fi to help support these mods. Donations from players help me spend more time making free mods for everyone!

I would like to extend my sincere apologies first and foremost. I translated this mod into Korean and posted it on mod.io as a translation mod. And when I uploaded it to Nexus, I read about the copyright of the language, so I am leaving this comment late. The translation mod I created is useless as a standalone mod since it only translates the language and does not include the features of the original mod, but I think it was wrong to not ask the original author for permission first. Once again, I sincerely apologize for reaching out late. And I would really appreciate it if you would allow me to post the Korean translation of this mod as a mod (including the translation only), and I hope you have a nice day.
P.S. My English writing skills are not very good, so I hope you understand if there are any awkward expressions.
Honestly, the fact that you bothered to reach out and apologize completely unprompted tells me that you're coming at this in good faith. Having control over how my mods are used/built-upon is all I care about at the end of the day (half because it shows respect for my work, and half because it puts me in a position where I can assist with any translation related bugs). Personally, I wholeheartedly believe you when you say it was an honest mistake, and so long as you're willing to reach out to me via Nexus DMs I have no problem with granting you permission and allowing the mods to come back up. There are some important pieces of information I need to provide to you.
i downloaded this from the in game mod menu but for some reason i cant get anyone to join my pty if i have 4 ppl in it. i cast the spell to increase the limit to 6 members and it shows that the spell worked, gut when i ask gail to join my party he refuses saying its full. im guessing ive missed something.
This was working great for me, until I installed today's update (4/30/2025). Now when i install it I keep getting "We were unable to load your saved game". Like I said this just started today with the latest update (it worked perfectly yesterday). If I remove the mod the game loads just fine. Anyone else seeing this?
First of all, incredible mod! The trim party down to 4 members on long rest is a very simple and thoughtful addition to reduce bugs around long resting at camp that other party limit mods haven't thought of.
But right now, ever since Patch 8, I've been encountering a bug that happens quite often when I have more than four party members. During dialogue scenes, the camera would focus on the wrong character speaking and the subtitle will display the line that *should* be playing, but it's just silence. I think it's because there should only be 4 party members in a cutscene so sometimes, if a party member outside of the scene is the one to be reacting/speaking, the game just randomly zooms in on one of the other 3 members who *are* in the cutscene. I'm currently not using many other mod that seems like they might cause this, is there any way to fix this?
This is my favorite mod, thank you so much for your amazing work. I beat the game using it on patch 7 and everything went fine, but after updating to patch 8, the same bug constantly occurs: in certain battles, when opening the radial menu to choose an action, the game crashes and closes by itself. This happened every time I tried to battle G*r*ash. Yesterday I went to play from zero and it happened once in the creche bossbattle and against the hag. I only have this mod and the "OIO - Overexplained Interaction Options - DCs Approvals and Flags in Dialogues". Do you know what this crash could be?
I'm thinking about going back to patch 7 to avoid these crashes, but I don't know if your newest mod version in the oficial in game mod manager is fully compatible with patch 7. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but could you tell me?
I wish I could provide a more helpful answer, but I'm afraid all I can say is that I'm fairly sure it isn't Adjustable Party Limit. There has been an increase in overall crashes with Patch 8 in general, and it wouldn't make any sense for it to be Adjustable Party Limit since the mod does virtually nothing when you aren't interacting with it. The manner of crashes I've seen reported with this patch lead me to believe the patch may have problems with memory leaks, but that's just an educated guess on my part.
In spite of my suspicions, there is something you can try if you'd like to verify, assuming you're on PC: try uninstalling the mod and then playing for a while, and see what happens. I would recommend not removing any party members after you run the uninstaller and load a save with the mod removed, since the number of characters could theoretically be a factor, especially if the memory leak theory is true.
Also, the latest version is not compatible with Patch 8, since one of its dependencies is a new pak file Larian added with Patch 8 called "GustavX", so you would have to downgrade to v2.2.5 on Patch 7.
Sorry if this is answered somewhere that I didn't see, but what is the problematic interaction with better hotbar 2? Is it just that the trim party to 4 option would be hidden by default, or is there something else I'm missing?
There aren't actually any compatibility problems with Better Hotbar 2, but this mod adds spells in the "temporary spells" section of your hotbar, which Better Hotbar 2 hides by default. The reason I ask players to not report bugs if they use Better Hotbar 2 is because I used to get swathes of false bug reports from people who couldn't be bothered to read Caites' mod description, so that was my way of shutting those people down.
I currently play on console but my friends play on PC. They updated to the latest version so I can't join the session. Is there a way for them to install the previous version? Thanks in advance!
Hey, Pixel. Before anything, thanks for updating, I'm glad your work is featured at the top of the list in the in-game mod manager. You deserve it.
I also see you answer questions, and I do have a burning question of my own:
Can you please tell me how this effects cutscenes and companion approval? AFAIK there are only 4 "spots" in cutscenes for party members, so I wanted to know what happens to the extra members during cutscenes and their reactions to events - and who counts as being "there" to gain approval.
In the majority of interactions, all party members will be able to gain/lose reputation with you based on your choices.
Also, I feel it would be good to know that the game will almost always prioritize putting a character in the conversation if said conversation is important to their story (so long as they are in range). But there are some exceptions, such as Wyll's special interactions at the burning inn or Astarion's interactions with a certain devil in act 2, so still try to be mindful! When a character isn't manually prioritized, it's the 3 closest characters to you tend to be the ones who get pulled into conversation.
I love this mod! I have a stupid question. Does this mod fix bugs for where a cutscene is supposed to have only 4 characters, but because your party has more than 4, when you see that cutscene there are instances where a character is in the scene, but is not saying anything (imagine Shadowheart in the cutscene but is not saying anything because the dialogue is supposed to be Karlach's in that scene, with the subtitles being Karlach's lines). I hope that makes sense. Otherwise love this mod!
I've heard about this bug once or twice before, but didn't fix it with this mod for two reasons:
I've never been able to replicate the bug myself, meaning I can't really test anything.
Even if I was able to replicate it, based on what I know about it, I'm fairly sure it's some kind of engine issue anyways, meaning it's not something that's fixable with Osiris scripting.
Hello! Awesome work by the way, I'm loving the easy access to soooo much banter. I just wanted to let you know that I encountered the same bug. Besides outright not using the mod, what would be another possible way to circumvent this issue? 😊
