After finishing Lies of P recently, I decided that I wanted to tackle Dark Souls III once again because I want to discover the story by myself. Problem : I'm not very skilled, and I don't have time to try 125632 times to "git gud". Last time (2020) it took me around 30 hours to reach the Crystal Sage and ragequit for good after losing my souls. I do like the feeling of earning my progress, but I don't care much about impressing people with my skills anyway, I mostly want the lore.
This mod seemed to fit my needs so I decided to try it, and after a bit of fiddling, it seems to work. Given how annoying to install it was, I decided to share the process in more details than what I saw in the posts.
Created a folder named EasySoulsIII in the "mod" folder of Mod Engine
Dropped the `Data0.bdt` downloaded from this page in the newly created folder
Edited the file config_darksouls3.toml to enable the mod with the line { enabled = true, name = "EasySoulsIII", path = "mod\\EasySoulsIII" } (By default there is another line with name "default' to serve as an example, I replaced it)
To launch the game with mods, you must use the launchmod_darksouls3.bat file
However, I noticed complaints in the comments about how the values are wrong in the files, so I after reading a few comments, self complaining about how convoluted it is to be able to cheat in peace in my solo game (don't care about multiplayer), then trying because I still wanna play DSIII, here's what I did :
Put DSMapStudio in Dark Souls III folder (the one that contains the .exe)
Launch the file DSMapStudio.exe
File → New Project
Project name : whatever you want
Project Directory : The directory of the mod in the ModEngine2 folder
Game Executable : Well, the Dark Souls III exe file
Click on the "Param Editor" tab, there is a screen with 3 columns and the leftmost one is filled with... stuff. Don't ask, I don't know.
We are looking for the ClearCountCorrectParam line in that list. It's green, because it's the bit the mod changes.
Once we click on it, the two other columns fill up with data. In the middle column, we have to click on the first line, NG+0
What didn't work in the file provided for this mod, apparently, are the negatives values assigned to NG+0, in the third column. You have to replace them by the multipliers you want. In short, if you want to reduce the damage you receive (and the mobs resistances), use a value lower than 1 for most of the parameters, but higher than 0 (no negative values !). For instance, 0.75 is "75% of the basic value of NG+1". Maybe check the wiki page about NG+ (https://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/New+Game+Plus). I'm not sure about what to understand from it but base value "1" is NG+1 value, so be careful because for instance a 0.9 multiplier might be harder than basic NG+0.
About the MpRecover parameter (Souls mutiplier) : From what I experimented, if this value is 1 (NG+1 value), I get 100 souls from the first enemies of the game. And without modding (so, technically, a base value of "0"), they "only" give 20 souls. So NG+1 value is probably multiplying the souls gained by five, at least in the first area. You know what to do if you want more souls !
Once the editing is done, File → Save All
Then, it was time to test. It went a bit weird at first but here are my observations :
You must have launched Steam beforehand (if I don't, DSIII starts unmodded)
Then, use the .bat file from Mod Engine to start the game
I had an issue when creating the character, dunno if it's related, might be better to do it without the mod activated
I also deactivated online mode, I read somewhere that ModEngine does that for you but just in case...
Aside from that, the mod functions perfectly
Anyway, thanks for the mod, I'm gonna casually enjoy this game now.
So I straight did this to a T and it still didn't work lol, i'm starting to believe modding isn't a real thing, or its just a different, unique nightmare for everyone
Sorry it didn't work for you, your nightmare theory might be right XD I don't think I missed anything when writing my process, and it worked so far (I even "fused" several other mods like that). Maybe make sure online mode is off in the game? I did not mention it.
App version DS3 1.15.2 (from steam) Works for me and here's how I proceeded.
I did EXACTLY as this post describes. Follow the steps as decribed AND use DS Map (tried without, didn't work). BUT, when editing the values in DS Map, remove the minus sign in front of the value. Whatever value your mod has (-0.500), just put 0.500 etc.
As for increasing stuffs, honestly, I'm not messing with it anymore so up to you.
Thanks to Lostmindy and bipyridine . For me, I combined both descriptions and it worked

Hey Guys ,I think I know where the problem is. After we use the DSMapStudio to Import CSV , we can see what this mod changes on the right side. The value -0.75 from this mod means nothing because it is "multiplier" . For example, If you want to reduce damage from enemies by 75%, you should change the Enemy Damage Multiplier value to 0.25 rather than -0.75. And if you want to incrace damage to enemies by 75%, you should change the Enemy Damage Taken Multiplier value to 1.75 rather than 0.75. I tried like what I said above and It works in game as expected. I don't speak English well, please ignore some spelling and grammar mistakes, I hope this message can help you.
Download the Yapped program, search on Google. Open it> go to Open> select the game Dark Souls 3 in the tab below> select Data0 in your game folder, a table will open, in the PARAM TAB: look for ClearCountCorrectParam, click on it, on the other side in NG+0 the numbers will be -0.05, whenever you increase the negative you take less damage and recover more, for example change it to -0.075 to make it easier and increase it to positive to make it more difficult. nothing i do seems to make it work. i have tried adjusting all sorts of params and nothing works. its saving it just fine and when i reopen yapped it shows the adjusted values but nothing changes in game
Sadly the mod doesn't work since the last version 1.15... I went through the different installations, I started by just replacing the data file in the game folder. The game was launching but with no noticeable difference in game. So I tried the one with engineMod, I followed the installation steps, and even without easy mode, the game simply wouldn't launch... So I downloaded an old launcher so that the engineMod is taken into account: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvCL-oXRW9Y This time the game launches but tells me that files are corrupted and I can't even enter the game menus. In short, impossible since the latest versions of Dark Souls 1.15...
