What are Just-Frames? - Dark Souls 3 (Champion's Ashes)

All R1 attacks have this window that allows you to perform just-frame versions of the follow-up attacks. If you're successful it will trigger this 'ding' sound with a green visual effect which regenerates your stamina. The window is exactly 1 frame after the earliest possible time you can cancel into follow-up R1s. This means if you buffer R1s in advance, then you can't trigger just-frames. As the name makes it clear, you need to actually time the attacks. Some weapons have bigger just-frame windows than others. In general it's 1f, but some weapons have a 2 frame window (Spears, Glaives, CGS, UGS, GA, GH).
