Anyway, onto the mod itself and what it was intended to do originally:
IT NEEDS AN IMPORT. The stats won't change if you install this mod mid-game.
My only complaint with kenshi is that by the time you find one of the unique, named recruits of the game, your character has already improved a few levels, while that NPC is pretty much at level 1.
What I dislike the most is the fact that theis Athletics is nowhere near yours and those who roleplay as nomads have to force themselves to walk slower than usual and/or spend the next three days forcing that NPC to run around leveling up their Athletics. So by default, all of the named NPCs' athletics is at level SIXTY (unless it wasn't higher in vanilla).
In regards to their other skills, I increased them individually based on their backstory, environment and in-game default specialties. They're not broken by any means, but at least it would save you the trouble of having to stagnate your character's progression so that they have to keep up. Here's a brief summary, but within the mod file there's a folder with .txt files specifying the level each of the characters' stats, if you want more specifics.
AGNU
Being a former member of the Police Force of the Second Empire, I feel that Agnu should be a little broken in term of abilities, especialy with how hard it is to get him. However, the Thrall Masters' attempts to break his mind for the last centuries did succeed to an extent (as he's traumatized whenever he returns to Venge), so his current mental state should have an effect on his abilities to an extent and balance things out.
BARD
There's not much to say about Bard. He is at level 1 in all his stats and he still costs you 3000 cats, so I may as well buff him a bit to make that money worth it. Given how he doesn't seem like the fighting type, most of his stats are below 20, though some of his cooking and laboring skills are a little higher, to make him good for something.
BEEP
Beep is the strongest! Well, not yet, but I don't want him to start everything at level 1. He wasn't born in Mongrel, so he must have explored at least the northwestern side of the continent after becoming independent from his hive. That must be worth some experience, and he won't hold you back that much after you meet him. besides, being a Worker Drone, he must have plenty of experience with farming and labouring.
BO
Now Bo is a pretty strong character in the base game, so I didn't really boosted her stats that much. She's an experienced ninja of the Anti-Slavers, so she should be a powerful unit by default.
BURN
Being an experienced ex-adventurer, I thought Burn should have relatively advanced levels, but his age should play a role in that too. So they're not too high, as if his abilities got a bit rusty (ba-dum tss) with disuse.
CAT
Cat was a citizen of the United Cities who was kidnapped by the Dust bandits, so really, he shouldn't be that much strong at the start. On the other side of the spectrum, his medicinal skills and science, which were already the highest he had, have been boosted, and I took the liberty to boost his laboring, farming and cooking a bit as well.
CHAD
He may not be a Gigachad, but I think he should recieve a decent boost in his stats. He has traveled into the southeastern side of the continent and punched a Beak Thing in the nose, so he should be a pretty tough martial artist by default. I didn't touch his weapon skills though, as he seems to favor unarmed, so I focused on that.
CRUMBLEJON
He was a former Samurai in the United Cities until his masted died, though his crumbling bones (and presumably his age) have had a negative effect on his life. Because of this, I decided NOT to boost his attributes but increase his combat and weapon skills to show that this once proud samurai does have a rich experience in combat.
DIGNA
Now Digna is a former citizen of the Holy Nation who escaped her oppression and was forced to kill her own father. She shouldn't be strong, but I figure that hiding with the Flotsam Ninjas must have helped pick up a thing or two about fighting, so I boosted her stats just a bit above her original 1.
DOCTOR CHUNG
The man's not a fighter, so other than his Hacker skill and Athletism I didn't touch anything. I did boost his Field Medic skill even more though. Not much else to say.
ELLS
Now Ells is pretty much a useless drunkard and his stats from the base game show this. While that doesn't give me a lore-friendly reason to improve him, I do believe that he must have earned a living somehow before he turned to alcohol, so I increased a bit his laboring and farming skills and boosted a lot his cooking skills, plus a significant increase in his thievery skills since, well, he's a thief too. Thought that might fit him.
ESPHER
Spending so much time in Tengu's prison must have forced Espher to practice his stealth skills, so I went with that. Being a Worker Drone, he must have a lot of experience with farming and labouring, so I increased those a lot.
GREEN FINGER
Green Finger is a farmer terrified of Cannibals, so he shouldn't be a fighter. Instead I boosted his farming, labouring and cooking skills.
GREEN
Green calls himself one of the best shooters of the swamps, yet for some reason his Precision Shooting and Perception were at 1, so I boosted those a lot to match his other two Ranged skills. Is he broken now? Yeah, maybe a little...
GRIFFIN
Being a former Paladin of the Holy Nation, he should have stats closer to theirs than to his base game stats, at least from my point of view, but I don't want to make him too broken. He's a retured soldier, after all, but he doesn't seem not too old, so I think he should be one of the stronger units.
HAMUT
Ever since his wife was taken by slavers, Hamut has been looking for her long enough to start considering that she's dead. Because of his quest and alleged confrontations with slavers, he's become a seasoned warrior with combat experience and the base game reflects this. All I did was give him a boost in his stronger abilities.
HEADSHOT
The game doesn't give me much info about her besides her being a slave and a specialized gunner, so I just went with that, plus adding a slight push to her stealth skills.
HOBBS
Now, Hobbs claims to have been in numerous adventures. That would make for an experienced warrior, but his base game stats suggest that he's making those up, so I decided to add just a really small increase to his stats and call it a day.
HORSE
Being a (presumably) seasoned treasure hunter, Horse should at least have a bit more developed skills than in the base game, so I did just that.
INFINITE WINGWANG
The game doesn't give me much to start from other than his overpriced recruiting cost and screaming ego, so all I did was sincreasing some of his strongest skills.
IZUMI
Izumi was created to work as a field medic and she offers her services as such, but she also wants her reserch to be funded, so I basically boosted all her science skills, plus lockpicking.
JEWEL
She herself claims to not be a fighter, so all I did was boost her cooking skill, and slightly increase her farming (I don't think she was a bartender her whole life) and other minor skills.
KANG
A sword-for-hire should be strong and have enough experience in his own right. All I did was boost a bit his combat-related stats and call it a day.
KNIFE
Being a Flotsam Ninja, she must have recieved some significant training in the arts of combat and stealth, so I simply increased those.
LUMI
All I can take away from Lumi is that she's a wacky character with an obsession with crabs. I kinda get it, since in a post-apocalyptic world, roasted crab must be a VIP food. So I simply increased her cooking and swimming.
LUQUIN
Being a legendary, though old warrior that once killed a noble, I decided to focus on increasing his weapon skills and his attributes not as much since he's been imprisoned 15 years.
MIU
Being a former slave, the base game has only her laboring and farming skills high, so I went with that plus giving her a slight boost in her steath skills, as she must have used them to escape captivity in the first place.
ORON
There's not much to say about Oron. She's a retainer that wants to fight. She's bound to have experience, but by the looks of it she hasn't been on the battlefield since she became a retainer, so she shouldn't be exceptionally strong.
PIA
Her main trait is her ability to spot Paladins, and given how she has already high athletics and modest strength and dexterity, she must have recieved some form of training from the Flotsam Ninjas or even field experience. I just agve her a slight increase.
RANE THE GIANT
Being a former Hundred Guardian should be closer to those NPCs'stats than to her base stats, so make her a bit broken upon meeting her, but not as much as the actual Hundred Guardians given how she was defeated by one. Still, her experience should be reflected in her stats.
RAY
Being a Soldier Drone, I figure he should at least have had some minor combat experience before being enslaved, so I simply focus on that. Having been a slave also must have helped him develop his labouring skills.
RED
Not much to say. She's a thief, so I focused on boosting her stealth skills.
REVA
She was trained by the Flotsam Ninjas but didn't made it to the field du to her anger issues, so I simply focused on her stealth stats and some of her combat skills, but not too much.
RIDDLY
As she's already a tough adventurer when you recruit her, she must have quite a bit of ezperience in the field, so her stats reflect that, focusing on combat.
RUKA
Ruka has already experience in the field and nearly died in battle, so she should be one of the stronger recruits you encounter and ready to be your tank, though no broken by any means, of course. I mean, she lost her latest battle and everyone makes fun of her for that.
SADNEIL
The poor man is constantly depressed due probably for his actions during the fall of the First Empire and the failure of the Second one. He probably rebooted his stats as a result so he should be weaker than most skeletons, but I don't want him to be too weak, so all he gets is a slight increase in his fighting skills. To compensate, his engineering, labouring and robotics have been significantly increased.
SETO
Being the daughter of arguably the strongest Shek of the kingdom, Seto should be one of the best units of your party, as befits the princess and arguably heir to the Shek Kingdom.
SHRYKE
Being a treasure hunter she must have more experience than in the base game, but not too much given how she feels cornered by the Fogmen and won't leave unless with a party of large numbers. I focus mostly in increasing her stealth and science.
SILVERSHADE
He's sort of stranding and hanging around a bar after he left his hive, so I he shouldn't be much of a fighter. But since the base game gives him lvl.10 accross the board, I believe he must have gone through some ♥♥♥♥ while in the Swamplands to toughen him up, so that justifies an increase.
SINKLYDE
There's not much about him in the base game to start from other than him being a prisoner in Tengu's vault, so I'll just give him a slight increase and call it a day.
SOMAN
Soman doesn't have much in terms of backstory other than being part of a failing fishing business, so Jist a general slight increase and call it a day.
STUBS MOMUSO
Other than arguably the wierdest last name of the game and a short temper, Stubs doesn't offer much in terms of backstory, so all I can take away is that he's a troublemaker who's survived a lot, given how his stats are already increased upon recruitment.
That's all. Remember that all of them start off with an Athletics level of 60, unless it's higher in the base game.
