    KNOWN ISSUES
    ~ Updated 03/13/2025
    Spoiler:
    Show
    MOD ISSUES:
r_ShadowsScreenSpaceLength ; Fixed the dawn and dusk horizontal plane shadows; however, this introduces other minor visual issues. Remove the variable if unsatisfied.
r_ColorGrading ; Removes the unnecessarily dark color grading, providing more photorealistic visuals, but the Nighthawk Potion effect will not display when used.
    ENGINE ISSUES:
Shadow Flickering ; If you notice shadows flickering or behaving erratically in the distance and along the edges of your FOV, this is an engine limitation. A partial fix is to force a 4096 shadow resolution, but this comes with a significant performance impact.

Patch 1.2 from Warhorse Studios addressed many issues but not all. The horizontal screen-space shadows during dawn and dusk remain, though this mod still provides a temporary fix. The memory leak from UI menus has been resolved, and performance has been improved.

I've made several enhancements to both performance and visuals—you should find this version more satisfying than Mod Version 1.5.

If you're unhappy with the color grading, you can remove the variable r_ColorGrading or set it's value to 1 inside the autoexec.cfg. I believe the current color grading detracts from the visuals—KCD1's color grading was significantly better in my opinion. KCD2's color grading makes the game darker than necessary, which can impact overall visibility and atmosphere.

This is great! I installed it to fix a bug I was getting with shadows, but now I'm running the game on experimental settings at better fps then I was on Ultra! Fantastic! The only thing I've noticed is some pop in, but it's not that bad. Thank you!

I have a recommendation, something you should add to the description page and...it's about uninstalling the mod. ;-)

Really no discrespect, I downloaded and tested the mod because I was looking if it could fix some ver particular shadow glitch I noticed in interiors. It did not, I erased the autoexec.cfg and continued playing. But right from the bat I had a feeling that performance had degraded significantly and I couldn't tell why. Your mods file was gone and as far as I knew an autoexec.cfg cannot permanently change something in the game...or can it? ^^

It can. :D It switches all ingame graphic settings to "Experimental", which is supposed to happen obviously, but then balances them out with the autoexec.cfg. And as soon as I got rid of your file I was stuck with the Experimental settings, but no balancing and thus vanilla performance. Took me a while to notice the reason for the performance drop.

TL;DR: Would be nice if you could add a section about uninstalling the mod, a reminder to check ingame settings afterwards and change them back to ultra or whatever they were before.

    Hey, i have a simple question :

Is there any reason to use this if full experimental settings + checkers mods  is running fine on my hardware ?

Is there any thing that tweaks the engine to push things even further than experimental settings while keeping it at [ultra] performances ?

I am getting a lot of popping in things, like these chicken in the middle at around 50m.
Which parameters do I have to change to not notice this anymore? And to what (I have a 5070 Ti)?

Overall it's working good, but the viewing distance is really important and annoying if not working properly.

Is it just my setup or a config problem that i get insanely low fps with experimental settings about 20-25 ish if look at nature and 15-18 if look at town (kuttenberg highwalls) decreses insanely if i go to market area with lots of npcs 5-12fps.

    My Specs:
    9900k
    32GB RAM
    3080 10GB
    NVME SSD

    Resolution 3440x1440p Windowed.

Yes there are some mods mostly some QoL and some texture related form Checkers collection but always balanced versions if available.
Also tried to disable almost every Mod but the fps only increase by + 5-10fps in every of the scenarios above.

    Pls help ._.

Patch 1.2 from Warhorse Studios may address some of your issues. This mod will also be updated for compatibility, with alterations primarily focused on improving visuals while maintaining performance. If you're using the Experimental preset without this mod, one of the main culprits of performance degradation is the shadow resolution being set to 4096. A resolution of 4096 is extremely demanding and produces sharp shadows. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 was designed to run at 1024 resolution, while KCD2 was optimized for 2048.

Your performance metrics are extremely odd. With this mod, I average around 90 FPS, with lows typically around 50-60 FPS. On main roads away from towns and villages, I can reach nearly 150 FPS. I recommend double-checking your mod list, verifying your game files, and ensuring no background applications are consuming system resources via Task Manager. Additionally, compare your performance between Ultra and Experimental presets to identify any significant differences.

Always ensure your system drivers are up to date. You'll need to troubleshoot on your own until someone else reports experiencing the same issue. Start by testing with no mods or configs, then reintroduce them one at a time. If the issue persists without mods, it's likely a system-related problem on your end.

I'm having the same issue, prior to the recent patch I was averaging around 90 fps using your autoexec, now it's dropped to high 20s.

Ok Funny fun fact after some hours of testing and restarting the game more than 200 times i finally found one part of the issue:
dont play 21:9 3440x1440 just stick to 16:9 2560x1440 and the fps literally tripled in Kuttenberg market and outside doubled...

what kind of shenanigans is Warhorse, this game or my pc doing there? xDDD

That’s amusing but also unfortunate to hear that 21:9 aspect ratio has issues. My display is a 27-inch, 16:9, 2560x1440p QD-OLED with a 360Hz refresh rate, so I wouldn’t have guessed that was the cause. Also, considering that other users are playing on 4K displays and similar setups.

If you encounter any other issues, feel free to ask, and I’ll do my best to look into them.

Thank you so much for the mod and the update. I updated the game and the mod, but I'm still having issues with flickering shadows in the distance. I increased the shadow values:

    e_ShadowsMaxTexRes = 2048 to 4096
    e_ShadowsMaxTexResSunWH = 2048 to 4096

It improved the resolutions at a distance and so on, but not the flickering. Is there any other value I could adjust to solve this problem? I read the docs and tried some other shadow-related commands, but without success. My system: 4080 Super, 12600k, 32GB. Playing at 4K, all experimental, 3840 x 2160p, DLSS 4 (3.1.2), pressset K.

    Thanks again!

Your issue is my issue as well. I've spent countless months in KCD1 and countless days in KCD2 trying to find a solution. Posts online suggest it's an engine limitation, and we may have to accept it. I will continue testing and searching for potential fixes.

Side note, I've noticed that GTA V and other titles exhibit the same shadow flickering behavior, so this isn't unique to KCD2.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I was eagerly awaiting the official game update because I thought they might fix it, but it seems not. We'll have to accept it. I hope we can find a solution, even a temporary one, within the community. Thank you again for such a fantastic mod and for trying to fix these flaws to make the game more beautiful and immersive.

The performance and visuals is really good, but I'm getting a lot of pop-ins, especially with vegetation when riding the horse and passing by large fields, it's super distracting :/

I'm afraid it's not a problem with the mod, but with the game itself.

Aye, have noticed that, but meant it was a lot more prominent after having installed this. But I think it might've been due to a conflict.

It is NOT a problem with the game itself.
Very often it is an issue with faulty Cache, RAM or VRAM settings, or with the texture streaming throughput, which has a lot to do with you harddrive / SDD / NVME speed.

      sys_budget_videomem = 16384  -- Use 16GB VRAM (RTX 4080 Super has 16GB)
sys_budget_sysmem = 24576 -- Allocate 24GB RAM (use your own amount of RAM, minus 4-8GB for windows itself. So in this example it's 32GB RAM, but only using 24GB. Amount of RAM = Number of GB * 1024)
r_TexturesStreamingMaxRequestedMB = 3500  -- Max texture streaming load from nvme SSD is 3500 (This is the setting usually responsible for pop-in issues IF settings are already optimized, because not properly defining this creates a bottleneck in loading and texture/object handling. Also has to do with loading stutters.)
r_TexturesStreamPoolSize = 16384 -- Texture pool size in MB (usually the same as you VRAM)

To clarify, the sys_budget_videomem and sys_budget_sysmem variables serve no functional purpose for the user. They are intended for debugging during development and do not impact performance. Claims that they provide improvements are purely placebo. As for the other variables, their influence is minimal, as Warhorse Studios has predefined them much more effectively than in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1.

Regarding the pop-in issue, some aspects will be addressed with the release of Patch 1.2 from Warhorse Studios, along with an update to the mod.

Perhaps someone can help me. I am looking for the higest possible LoD in the game (for virtual photography purposes). Unfortunately, I can't find any setting that would make the grass appear when the camera (player) is in the distance. Setting "e_mergedMeshesViewDistRatio" to higher values makes only some of the foliage appear. None of the other settings (like "e_ViewDistanceRatio" etc.) seem to affect the grass. Here's what I am talking about:
    https://i.postimg.cc/7P3BDznJ/LoD.jpg

Does anyone know what setting is responsible for this? Thanks in advance for any help!

This might be what you are looking for:
      https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/392?tab=description

In his "personal config" he has a lot of comments explaining what each variable does, and I managed to get perfect vegetation detail for basically unlimited view distance with this. I highly suspect the grass vanishing has to do with LoD and LoD Distance - because the lowest "grass LoD" might just be "invisible grass".

      Hope this helps!

Here's an odd one: Apparently this mod breaks the Nighthawk potion effect entirely (i.e. both the potion and the "See better in dark" mod). Im not sure which parameter could be causing this but it could effect similar 'filters' that the game has.

Disabling color grading could be affecting the way the Nighthawk potion effect is rendered. Try removing r_ColorGrading = 0 from the autoexec.cfg and see if that restores the intended visuals. I'll look into it further when I have time.

      ~ EDIT

I tested Henry's Nighthawk with r_ColorGrading = 0 and r_ColorGrading = 1 and confirmed that setting r_ColorGrading to 0 disables the effect. I believe this is because the filter is applied through a ColorGradingChart. You can remove r_ColorGrading from the autoexec.cfg if Nighthawk is an important gameplay component for you.
  11. The mod causes my inventory to disappear. If you talk to any vendor, the inventory completely disappears until the game is restarted.

I second this. Had this issue last night. See image below. I posted on reddit and other users say it comes from the cfg file.

Not only this but the map icons as well. As if you've disabled all legends. It's one or the other tho, they don't seem to happen at the same time from what i've noticed.

PS: I removed wh_ui_ApseUnloadMode = 0 under Master Settings in the cfg and so far it hasn't happened for me.

VERSION 1.5 has been uploaded and now resolves this issue. The wh_ui_ApseUnloadMode variable was mistakenly set to 0 instead of 1, which has now been corrected.

FKN HELL FINALY..I wondering what cause it..after Italian JOB 2hrs of thinking why I cant do a s#*! in game..two days of tweaking and literally reinstaling game multiple times !!! Finally I know what cause it...its UNPLAYABLE since this happens constantly. Thanks guys.
I almost surrender and stop playing because I think its end-game related BUG. Like with Local Hero perk after mission with Rosa.
