About this mod

A Mod that pushes even furher the game's "Experimental" quality without requiring extra files or external mods. It maximizes the engine's built-in parameters through a single config file, delivering the best possible visuals while maintaining a good framerate.

Permissions and credits
Changelogs
capable high-end GPU and CPU (minimum 8 core) are recommended in order to be able to play with a decent framerate.
The mod is not meant for a low-end system (e.g. RTX 3060 and/or i7-4790K).

Tested with the following HW at 1440p which resulted with a (framerate) that ranged from 45 to 75 FPS.
(During the test about 22GB VRAM and 34GB of RAM were used by KCD2)

  • GPU: nVidia RTX 4090 (24GB VRAM)
  • CPU: Intel i9-14900K
  • RAM: 96GB RAM DDR5 @ 6800Mhz
  • Installed on a high speed NVMe drive
  • NO DLSS - NO FrameGen (FG) during the test.

IMPORTANTThis mod WILL maximize the overall built-in game graphics quality. But you can achieve even better results by using a custom ReShade.

What it does?

  • Maximizes all visual parameters for the highest possible in-game fidelity.
  • Increases texture LOD (Level of Detail).
  • Forces the best Level of Detail (LOD) of all objects for the highest graphics quality.
  • Forces the "Procedural Vegetation" (turned off by default).
  • Increased Vegetation view distance.- Forces "Dual Tracing" for a better raytracing lighting/shadowing quality.
  • Increases the quality and resolution of Volumetric Effects (e.g. fog and clouds).
  • Forces Anisotropic Filtering to never get under "x16", for sharper and more detailed surfaces.
  • Adds per-object shadow for a more realistic shadows effect.
  • Increases the overall shadows quality.
  • Forces even more quality on reflections.
  • Increases water effects (e.g. caustics effects) to a further distance.
  • Increases draw distance and overall objects detail.
  • Improves Global Illumination (GI).
  • Improves and pushes even further the Ambient Occlusion effects for more realistic shading and depth effects.
  • Forces tessellation for better terrain and object surface details (may introduce some graphical glitches - but in my opinion it's worth it.
  • Increases the number of rendered light points.
  • Forces Global Illumination (GI) effect for all light sources.- And many more graphical improvements!

Known issues

SHADOW FLICKERING:

After some research, it seems that the shadow flickering is an issue with the game itself, not the mod.

Since the mod increases the view distance and other parameters, it only amplifies a problem that already exists in the base game.

The only way to fix this is to wait for an official patch from the developers or a mod specifically designed to address this issue.

How to install?

1) Navigate to your MAIN game directory. Usually something like (Steam version):

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance2\

    2) Open the .rar file you downloaded (this mod) and Copy/Paste or Drag/Drop the "autoexec.cfg" from the .rar to the Main Game folder.

    3) (Optional) If you already have an "autoexec.cfg" file, then you can just merge (at the bottom) your file with the content of the "autoexec.cfg" of this mod.
By merging it at the bottom, it should override any previous parameters within your existing "autoexec.cfg".

Uninstall:

  • Delete the "autoexec.cfg".
(Optional) Restore your own "autoexec.cfg" (if you previously had one -  or delete the merged content from this mod).

Additional Notes:

  • For the best results (in terms of graphics quality), it's recommended to install a nice "cinematic/realistic" ReShade.
