I feel sorta weird because I can't bring myself to like this mod. Some of the faces just look too bad and worse than vanilla. I wish I knew I what the mod author was aiming for, but the description doesn't really say anything. It just looks more weirder than the vanilla assets.
I don't know what others see in it, but I can't see it myself.
Yeah, while these faces do look good, they don't really fit the overall artstyle of New Vegas. I think NVR2R is probably the better option, but I'm glad there is an alternative.
I gotta HARD disagree with this whole thread. Yes the character's do look a little uncanny, all Balebandr's mods seem to intentionally invoke that weird clay-like early Fallout game CG, just bringing it to smooth higher definition. Meanwhile the other Face Overhauls just slap a 4K paint on people that feels very out of sync with New Vegas's design philosophy.
Like FranknKitty says, use close-to-vanilla redesigns and lighting mods with classic Fallout in your heart and you get close to that strange vibe the original games had.
Actual working fix for male characters (Archive Invalidation fix):
Start by disabling BSA Redirection in Vortex settings. Open your NV launcher but don't launch the game. Keep it running in the background. Go to documents -> my games -> FNV. Open Fallout.ini and make sure it's not read only. Change bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=0 to 1 and bUseArchives=0 to 1. Search for SArchiveList= and change it to:
Save the file. Go to your main FNV directory and open Fallout default ini and do the same thing. Enable BSA Redirection in Vortex. Make sure that both BSA Redirection.bsa and ini tweaks folder are in your FNV data folder. If they're missing, you will need to copy and paste them manually (RMB on Archive Invalidation mod in Vortex -> open in file explorer -> copy and paste in FNV data folder). Go back to your launcher and start the game. Check if the textures are loading correctly.
From now on you will be forced to launch the game without the launcher, as it will overwrite your changes every time you open it. Just make a shortcut to FalloutNV.exe
The hair and teeth versions of this mod look great but the base head is really buggy and a pain in the ass to install, and yes i have installed it correctly in the past just that i've noticed a common issue where it decides it wants to work sometimes while just outright refusing to work other times at all, bloadfacegen set to 1 and archive invalidation enabled only works as a fix when it wants too, it's too unpredictable and i wouldn't recommend wasting hours of your life trying to get this to work, it's a coin toss most of the time anyway.
Yeah dont use this mod, unless you dont mind spending hours trying to get it to work and even then it sometimes outright refuses, it seems like this mod has a mind of its own lol, currently only using the hair and teeth part of this mod since they're the only ones that actually work as intended.
Having an issue with female faces. The male faces and seams look great, but the female npcs have a bad neck seam and the right side of their face is completely messed up. Does anyone know a fix?
I'm having a problem with this mod. My character's face looks like that of an old man, and there's an ear texture behind the neck. Any solution? I'm new to New Vegas mods, so please bear with me
I have ARCHIVE INVALIDATION TURN ON in VORTEX , have no mod that alter BODY-FACE ( only i could think of is Titan of The New West - Power Armor mod) And no NPC traveling mod The mod face is fanstastic hoping I would find a fix soon for my new playthrough right now
Females seem to work fine but pretty much all males face BUG OUT
read the text below to set it up , just install it normally through Vortex and then head in the Data folder in FNV game folder after that follow below text
after 2 days finally fix it , loving this mod !!
Explanation for people who are having problems: Install it with Mod Manager of choice or manually. Go to your Fallout New Vegas folder, open Data folder, Fallout New Vegas ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!.exe should be located there if you installed it correctly.
Launch it and wait for a "warning" that application was unable to locate Fallout_default.ini - if you got the warning it means that mod works fine, you just need to find location of your Fallout_default.ini file. It's located in Fallout New Vegas folder. After that, window from mod should pop up, click activate and close the app. That's it, never need to play with it again (unless you reinstall the game ofc).
THIS PART IS IMPORTANT - probably the reason why this mod isn't working for you! It's possible that application won't give you the warning about Fallout_default.ini not being located. It means that it's not working as it should. In that case, move the Fallout New Vegas ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!.exe to a different folder or different drive and launch it. For example, if you launched it from Fallout New Vegas folder and got no warning, try launching it from desktop, or If you launched it from Local Disk C, try doing it from Local Disk D/E etc. Launch it and it should give you the warning now, just locate fallout_default.ini, activate mod and move the .exe back to Fallout New Vegas Data folder.
And don't forget too do this too! minor issues to be mentioned Generating facegen textures works as intended, but due to these models having a different UV than their vanilla counter parts, means without the fallout.ini line "bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles" set to 1, you will have to generate facegen for all esp/esms that either modify or add NPC entries. if anyone is curious or willing to make these patches be sure to follow this guide the most effective way to set the line to 1 is through falloutcustom.ini in MO2
If that method is not working for you then I'm Sorry. I am unable to help you.
I had the same problem, but I fixed it somehow bybreinstalling the mod few times. Well, now I have the same issue only with Russel, the modded companion by someguy2000😭

Thank you, I had the same problem and this process fixed it! All my textures were mis-aligned, I had ears on necks and eyeliner on Doc Mitchell's forehead. Not sure why this method works and Vortex's built-in archive invalidation tool doesn't, but this made the mod work and now my people all look great.
