It sounds like the issue may be related to file location or permissions in the Game Pass version. For Game Pass games, the files can sometimes be locked or require special handling. I recommend trying the following:
Ensure the game is not running when you make changes.
Verify that the oblivion.ini file is located in the correct folder. For Game Pass, the path might differ slightly from the Steam version.
Check if the folder has proper write permissions.
If the file isn't updating automatically, try verifying the game files in the Game Pass client to make sure everything is synced correctly.
Nel game pass non cè nessun file ini. te lo garantisco cè solo una cartella engine con all interno binaries e altre 2 purtoppo quindi non riesco a inserirla
Any way to edit the pak files to increase the size of the blood decals or replace the textures? It was possible on stalker 2 without modding tools but i'm a novice as searching through the pak files or I'd do it myself.
Hey! Haha, I totally agree — a sword should cut, not poke like a stick! 😂 Sadly, changing how wounds or dismemberment works would require full access to the character models, animations, and Unreal Engine's skeleton/physics systems. Right now, I can only modify blood decals and visual effects via .ini tweaks. If we ever get access to deeper modding tools for Oblivion Remastered, I'd love to explore a true brutal combat mod with real dismemberment! 🔥 Thanks for the awesome suggestion — you totally get the spirit of the Bloodbath! 😎
OK nice! so if I add [SystemSettings] at the end of the Engine.ini and the line r.Decal.FadeDurationScale=100, the blood stays on the ground. now we just have to find out what the line for the swords is called. then that would be the first real option, I would say.
the version with the Oblivion.ini still doesn't work for me, no matter what folder I paste or change it into.
es, adding the [SystemSettings] and r.Decal.FadeDurationScale=100 should work for the blood staying on the ground. As for the swords, you’ll likely need to find the specific line for weapon decals or the properties related to the sword’s visual effects. Regarding the Oblivion.ini version, sometimes the file paths get tricky. You might want to double-check the folder and make sure the game is reading the correct configuration. You could also try verifying the game files on Steam, as sometimes files get misplaced during modifications. Let me know if that helps
Yes, that's exactly what it looks like. So in the Engini.ini the additional entry at the end did it for the ground decals.
The line for the object decals is exactly the thing. So there is nothing to "find" in the Engine.ini, it is basically empty (except for a few path information) and at this point we have to add it. Maybe it's even a standard line that is documented somewhere. But for so far I couldn't find anything.
because of the Oblivion.ini. So I went through all the paths: (SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData) and that one from your description (C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows) and inserted the Oblivion.ini there ^^. This did not yield any results. I have adjusted the game's own Oblivion.ini and the Oblivion_default.ini in the game directory. This also yielded no results.
The only positive result was in the Engine.ini The other variants didn't work with my Steam standard version.
Not working for me with steam version. I added the `Oblivion.ini` file into "Document\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows" and updated the `Engine.ini` file there with lines:
and I also modified the game files via Steam -> browse local files -> "Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Oblivion.ini" to include the lines above (under Display).
Nothing has worked.
I don't have anything under AppData, but maybe that's what I'm missing? Does anybody have any idea?
Mine seems to be working now because in `Engine.ini` I've changed [Display] to [SystemSettings] and added r.Decal.FadeDurationScale=100 to increase the duration based on information i saw in another mod (blood lasts 10 seconds per 1 unit, so this should come out to 16.67 minutes or so for the blood duration). Maybe someone smarter than me can explain what's going on here and where or not i need the r.Decal.FadeDurationScale, but for now it seems to be working with these fixes.

thanks for the tip, for me it worked too, and I didn't even need to change anything in Oblivion.ini just in the Engine.ini using the [system settings] and r.Decal.FadeDurationScale=100 with the others above and it worked fine, steam version here

It seems like you're on the right track with the adjustments you've made. The lines you've added in the Engine.ini file are correct for modifying decal behavior. It's good that you've used the r.Decal.FadeDurationScale to extend the blood duration. If the decals are still not appearing as expected, it might be worth trying to disable any other conflicting mods or checking if the game is loading the correct ini files after modifications. You could also try clearing the cache or validating the game files through Steam to ensure all settings are applied correctly. Keep experimenting with small tweaks, and you'll get it working
Hey! No major performance changes have been made with this mod. It primarily focuses on improving the visual aspect of blood effects. The increase in blood effects should not have a significant impact on performance, but if you're running into any issues, feel free to let me know
Hey! Thanks a lot for your support and great question! 🔥 Right now, we’re limited to what we can change via config files (.ini), so Niagara blood effects like the ones seen in YouTube videos are not possible yet. But if we ever get proper access to Unreal Engine 5 modding tools or editor assets for Oblivion Remastered, I'd definitely love to work on creating more realistic Niagara-style blood effects! For now, this mod pushes the decals and blood visuals to the maximum allowed without crashes or instability. 🚀 Thanks again — stay tuned! 😎
Hey! Thanks for sharing your path info and suggestions! 🔥 Yeah, it seems that for some users, Oblivion Remastered may create or store the Oblivion.ini differently depending on installation type or launcher settings. Adding the blood decal settings manually into your own Oblivion.ini is absolutely a good idea — especially if you already have custom graphic tweaks you don't want to lose. (Just make sure to add them under the correct sections, like [Decals] if it exists, or [General] otherwise.) Thanks again for your input — every bit of shared knowledge helps make the Bloodbath even bloodier! 😎🩸
I found my Oblivion.ini in my game folder under Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData
I wasn't able to find an ini in any of the other spots. Also, I'd recommend just adding the lines from the file to your ini if you already have your graphics settings where you like them. I don't know how different ini files in different spots work with each other, but I do remember them overwriting each other back when I played Skyrim.

I think somebody could make an awesome mod by grabbing the blood textures from the Arena in Imperial City, and replacing the decals with those.
They're bigger, more realistic, more gruesome looking. And darker red

Sometimes when attacking I get a satisfying amount in vanilla, but too often it feels like not enough
