HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ADDON: Simplest Roads - Footstep Consistency Patch
This mod is a continuation of the "More Dirt/Ash/Snow" mods by Gruberix. However, I extended the principle to add dirt/ash/snow normal maps to the roads and bridges as well. What this results in is a dirt road effect that uses whatever your textures as for dirt, snow or ash for all of Skyrim's roads.
Better yet, it looks great when you use parallax textures and is very compatible with everything. No mesh changes. No world edits. No major patches needed. Just a simple plugin
Anything that adds NEW roads chunks or cobbled bridges is technically compatible but won't have these changes applied.
Recommended mod to compliment this:
Northern Roads - Clutters Only - 100% compatible. Clutter like Northern Roads but without the landscape patching.
Tomato's Blended Roads Retexture - I highly recommend using these meshes/textures if not using Footstep Consistency
RVX Dirt 02 Terrain Parallax - Another great dirt mod
SB - Simply Dirt Roads for Lux Via Bridges (just the meshes from the optional files, not the ESP). At least until I make a lux via patch.
Interesting Roads - Additional roadside objects 100% compatible
Ancient Land - Additional Nordic Themed architecture on the roads and lands - 100% compatible.
But you can use whatever terrain mods you want.
